@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

Today my body seems intent on hocking up all the stuff that's been in my throat and lungs all at once.

Why am I telling you this? Because knowledge is power!

Aw man, you're really paying for doing that bit of lawn-mowing. Get well soon.

For those who wonder, yes, it's a authentic Soviet Russian hat. It cost me around 40 to 50 dollars. If anyone want one, you can get it here: http://www.ushanka.com/

I've got big hair. It's all the hat I ever need.

That and it's a pain wearing a hat when you usually have a ponytail.

I'm not sure I understand which picture you mean.

It took me about 30 seconds to work out what I was seeing in the left hand picture. Seriously, for all that time I was like, 'What's that? A sort of vaguely pink strawberry pie-cake with rubbish decorations? What are they even, anyway? Why's it in the shower, even? And what's it got to do with Sonic drown- Oh My God!'

I take it that hedgehog isn't pink because its body's been floating there for days? Please say no?

Err... yeah, so. Assuming the hedgehog is actually okay, that's a great pair of pictures.

In other news... I've taken an interest in tennis for the first time this season (before Andy Murray won, I swear). It occurred to me yesterday that I managed to watch the whole thing without snickering when the commentator invited me to 'watch the men's semis'. Am I losing my touch?

wait if both sides are dismissed does that mean that everything goes to the way it was before this happened

That's how I was reading it. Not sure how this goes in either party's interests, although I really don't know much about law, so perhaps that's just my legal illiteracy *shrugs*

ETA: Except that, having read the rest of this thread, it looks like Penders is going to do what he set out to do and make his comic. I'll be interested to hear how this pans out in future months...

Lovely! Well, that's two. Would you bear with me while I make a few final preparations? It shouldn't take long...

You wear contacts, Velvet? I coudl never do that...I saw the hell my older sister went through with hers and decided to stick with glasses.

Aye, it took some effort. I think I worked out at the end I'd spent a cumulative 4 hours in front of the mirror with one of my boyfriend's spare contact lenses almost putting it in, flinching, almost putting it in again, flinching again, putting it in again... I looked online for resources that might help and most places just give the technical instructions for putting in lenses. You know, all that stuff about holding your eyelid up with the opposite hand. But that wasn't really what I needed. In the end I found the help I really needed on a Yahoo Answer. Perhaps it'll help your sister and yourself, if you decide to give it another go?

The trick is to forget about contact lenses at first. Stand (or sit, whatever) in front of the mirror and touch the white of your eye until you train your brain to realise it's okay. So long as you don't slide your finger along the white it doesn't feel bad. For me, the turning point was changing my relationship with my eyes. When I started they were horrible, untouchable alien things that lived in my face and unspeakable things happened to them in horror films sometimes. But I changed my view of them.

Our eyes are among our greatest crowning glories as human beings. Much better pieces of kit than most species on earth have: perceptive of depth and colour as well as being indicators for our emotions. Eyes are awesome!

And with the contact lenses, rather than seeing those as freaky jelly discs I was expected to get far too intimate with for my comfort, I looked at them again. Contact lenses exist for no other reason than to make our lives easier. And they're made wonderfully precisely. You and I couldn't make serviceable ones with our bare hands. They're great examples of what human technology can produce!

So yeah: learn to see both eyes and lenses in a positive light and that can help.

It's also totally worth it never to have to walk from outdoors to in on a cold winter's day and have your glasses steam up, or to end up taking them off in the rain because there's no such thing as windscreen wipers for glasses. And for the way you end up walking down the street for weeks and months after, feeling like King of the World because you're glasses-less.
