@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

And...it happened.  Not sure how to react, but all I can say is a Sonic movie is finally happening.  Ill just leave it at that.

So what keeps things from reaching the final step? The rusty grip of SoJ? Lack of interest? Too little cash? What?

All of the above honestly, especially involving fan projects.  In fact, Ill give you the condensed version of the process I went through in 2007 when my film was intended for theaters.

Contacted Sega of America in 2006.  Sega of America arranges a meeting.  Sega of America approves idea; relays concept to Sega of Japan.  Sega of Japan expresses interest in 2007 by stipulation that we meet certain requirements before they officially approve anything ie wanting a big budget studio with reputable actors.  Hired an agent; invested my entire summer traveling to to 6 different studios for pitch presentations.  Universal Pictures in conjunction with DiC Entertainment jumps on board that Fall.  Universal arranges a collaborative meeting with DiC, Sega of America and Sega of Japan (on conference call).  Sega of Japan rejects the idea since they claim they were working on their own film.  Universal and Sega of America try to negotiate but to no avail.  Sega of Japan sends retraining order to me and my agent accusing us of harassment during said negotiations.

I still saved all the emails and letters from SoA and SoJ to confirm this.

See this Sal looks fine. The proportions looks SEGAish enough and the new costume and hairstyle keep it fresh, but it still oozes Sal's original personality and design, in fact it arguably does better than Yardley's design before hand with the already flattened Tails-ish face.

The biggest nitpick I can think is one many artists do, I wish more would use that cheek indent she had over her eyes, makes her face look less flat and empty.

Perfect.  Just add the cheek fuzz and its golden!

Why should we accept a design that reminds us of how when Sally was painfully transformed into a slave? Why should we even allow it? And yes her design HAS changed before but that was still an experimental phase when they were still trying to establish her signature look. And even during all those years after that short experimental period we had a few changes in minor details but that was due to different artists but the general pattern was all the same. THIS, however, is not the case.

And how do we even know this is the same character? This is a retooled universe with different history now. How do we even know if ANY of these characters are the same anymore? This all thanks to the genesis wave.

Hmm, this is an interesting case I havent heard.  That makes Sally's outfit even more disturbing.

Damn after looking at 256 I hoped they had improved Sal's design. And Antoine is looking more and more like a tanned Tails every second.

I just wished they understood that making characters more uniform with a design style isn't the same as making them into generic mish mashes of previous characters. It's even worse because we've been shown previous redesigns that were at least passable but then streamlined them some more (their first Antoine looked a bit empty coatless, but he at least still looked a LOT like Antoine, and it seems they considered giving Sally back her almond eyes but then reverted to the more generic Cream/Marine ones).

Exactly, now we have characters that are difficult to decipher cause of the same design model they are share.  Its confusing and lazy.
