@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

#191447 What Made Satam A Masterpiece

Posted by Prince ByTor on 26 March 2014 - 01:30 PM

I think he means "SATAM isn't purely for kids" not that it's not for kids full stop. That's what constantly annoys me, when people like me, myself included, get grief for liking things like SATAM or Sonic in general when they're within my age group (20s) or older because it's seen as kids stuff, far from it. Most of the "kiddy" things we still enjoy now, we still enjoy because they're designed to be enjoyed by all age groups, not just one and they are, I mean, look at the most common age group on this site alone!

Anyway, just thought I'd clear that up. I do, however, agree with the show having many flaws but I don't necessarily agree with the animation and artwork being two of them, they're actually some of the best I've seen from DiC (I won't say in general because it was a very typical look at the time) and much better than what most production teams slap together in a matter of weeks nowadays with the aid of computer software and CG.

I agree, that's what I've been saying all along.

So i lost ANOTHER friend today, this time in a car accident...

Dang, that's some bad luck there, and you almost bit it the other day as well. Maybe it's time to consider public transport?

I'll be sure to pray for you and your friends and their families in this time of sorrow for them.

Wow, ^_^ your fan fiction and creative writing skills are amazing Prince By Tor! Love how you put in so much detail and described environments and emotions to where readers would get hooked and feel for the characters. And i love the spiritual faith and forgiveness you included as well.

Thanks a lot for your feedback on my work! At this moment I'm at about 1/3 through the next chapter, so I'm hoping to have #4 done before New Years.

I started a sonic fan fiction with some involvement in spiritual faith too, i just haven't posted it on here yet. ;) I've been working on it for a few months and have it saved on my MS Word, as soon as i have the first few chapters finished I'll just copy and paste here in the forum. Then i'll add more as I go, depending if i have the extra time or not.  I can't wait til you add more to your story, you got me hooked on it.

Cool, I can't wait to read it, you should get involved with the Fan Fict writing group; we could all use more good Sonic stories and a good unbiased reader to tell us like it is!

Thanks again!

 I start Family Dollar this Tuesday, went there 3 days ago to electronically do my W-4s and stuff. I'll be one of many who help stock and organize the inventory and all that. Then in 10 days or maybe sooner i'll find out if i become a permanent employee. To prove them that i'm worthy of their company, i gotta work hard, and in my case focus LOL cause i have ADD and  it's fuckin' annoying! I get side-tracked and lose focus many times. Sometimes i even quote Sonic and say:

ovrl.png LOL

:awesome: Anyway, i got 4 days to prep and motivate myself, cause i'm gonna be doing alot of physical work there. And if i get the permanent position, bye bye to the sign job i'm currently doing haha. I already gave the employer a heads up just in case haha. Anyway, i'll be on for a little bit then i'm out

Good luck! Don't worry, you'll do just fine. And if you don't God must have something else in mind for you.

#186603 The All-New Sonic Comic Universe!

Posted by Prince ByTor on 01 December 2013 - 02:06 PM

I thought I would chime in. Personally, there are quite a few directions I could go with Bunny's robotization, but I think what Stranger is referring to is that sometimes showing your audience what happened is the worst thing possible an author can do. Leave it a mystery, even to the one that it happened to. Each individual has their own personal fears and no matter how gory he/she gets it won't affect everyone in the way intended; there's a fine balance between horrific and disgusting, so why not just leave it up to each reader what happened; they'll surely think of something to horrify themselves. At the same time this amnesia creates an enigma, which in and of itself is powerful to the human psyche; we want to know what happened and the more we can't see the more we want to see it, so we'll give it great power beyond anything the author could do.

Also, at the same time this also doesn't give anything to one camp or take away from another; each fandom can believe it the way they want.

Personally, I think all that Ian was trying to do was show another disparity between the two timelines, but after Bunny took hold of NICHOLE she knew what it felt like to have herself forcibly turned into a half-machine by Robotnik and how it felt to live with it. And if anyone remembers this Robotnik is from the old timeline and only remembers the old timeline, so he is guilty of everything he did in the old timeline. However, I believe that this should have been one point Ian Flynn had left ambiguous.

No...no! it gets rid of a living symbol, a character arc the readers can sympathize with that mirrors the suffering of their people and what the Freedom Fighters are fighting for...it's an empty and wasteful choice when you have the brilliant option of her character being a living microcosom of the Freedom Fighter's plight, and a horrible reminder of what Roboticzation does. Her aspirations mirror the very tone of the conflict and the overall subtext of dehumanization through an abuse/misuse of technology. In comparison, this is nothing to the dramatic and subtextual potential of this throughline. But nope says Archie! Let's make her a Robocop rip-off (Rabbocop?).

Her tears mirror the tears of all the enslaved Robians who no longer have tears to shed... Here she is just  another unoriginal cyborg.

I know I'm merely playing devil's advocate here, and while I completely agree with you and Ben, if you look at her before the reboot she was most likely going to meet her uncle to be "legionized" i.e. becoming a cyborg again. Now, I know it's another "magic wand" by Archie and Flynn, but they all remember what happened to her in the original timeline, and obviously their marriage still counts even though it apparently didn't happen in this new world.

The only thing that I am really worried about in this issue is that it seems like robotitization might be taking a back-seat or retconned entirely with all of Robotnik's goons apparently being flesh and blood and no one has run into a robian or mentioned it yet other than concerning Sally not being one unless I'm forgetting something.

@VHS:

Thanks, I checked Netflix this morning and was surprised that it wasn't there.

Have you ever seen the old animated movie Rock and Rule? That's another one that's so bad that it's good, but the voice cast and music was top-notch. Another early 1980s post-apocalyptic film with mutated anthros saving the world, but this time they're saving it from a demented pop star. Oh yeah, and this one is a bit more mature of a film too somewhat in the vein of Heavy Metal.

You simply can't win with a person who's crazy enough to have The Duke of Zill as his avatar.

I was trying to place your avatar, I knew I'd seen it before! Damn it, now I can't get his awful song out of my head and it's been well over 20 years since I saw that movie last!

Awful?

You...you sicken me.

Okay VHS, I gave it another listen. It was well over 20 years since I heard it last and it isn't nearly as bad as I remember it, but Good Lord does that song earworm you! Now I have the urge to watch the movie again.
