@  furrykef : (25 July 2015 - 03:35 AM)

When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

#197512 Sonic The Hedgehog: Edge Of Tomorrow.

Posted by Prince ByTor on 29 October 2014 - 09:27 PM

On behalf of the EoT writing team I am pleased to announce some big news concerning Sonic: EoT. Those who are acquainted with this project will know how much many man hours has been put into this labour of love and how many more countless hours are to be put into it from here on out. The project has grown quite a lot in size and scope as well as the writing team. We now have grown to a current team of six strong writers and consultants including: RedStranger, myself, Mike Arcade, Uncle Ben, Zealous Fox, and Nagol the Impaler; we are always accepting more volunteers for any task.

Now, for the big news: the project has now grown to a size that we have decided to make it its own continuation of SatAM consisting of characters and ideas from all corners of Sonic lore, both official and fan made, but with our own flavour and spin where we have fixed what most would find irksome. That's basically how we've been handling this; instead of throwing away bad ideas we've been reimagining them.

We will start with the episode “The Day After Doomsday” and go from there onto not only the return of Robotnik, but the introduction of many brand new baddies, allies, factions, as well as loved characters from both official and from fan works making an appearance in a fresh manner. We are hoping on making this one of the most unique and innovative takes on not just the continuation of one of our favourite shows, but of the entire Sonic continuities.

Very soon we will have some sneak previews available from our already finished mountain of work and hope to have it out very soon!

#196875 Princess Sally Game

Posted by Prince ByTor on 20 September 2014 - 11:15 PM

And in a year+ absence, another update:

242aaet.jpg

Sally's projectile is now REAL and long distance! A very special thanks to Snkenjoi for coding this.

Admittedly there are parts where a projectile in a Sonic game seemed better on paper, Sally frequently outruns her laser attack and some elements are extremely difficult to aim onto (see SCZ and OOZ boss) but owning parts such as the last boss are a lot of fun and at least now Sally isn't an Amy-lite. I'm wondering whether to keep her hitbox when she fires so she isn't completely vulnerable, since it's now extremely easy for her to get hit.

Bugs:

* The slide and close range fire is still needed for some objects such as the CPZ and HTZ bricks until I figure out how to code the projectile object to work with them.

Go to the wiki entry for the new revision.

Nice, I found it. It works good on Kega; I'll check it on my PSP's emulator soon. Great work!

I got through the first four levels and I can tell ya, being able to have a projectile certainly has changed the game. Taking away the closeup attacks makes it feel more like SatAM Sally although being able to shoot another direction other than just horizontally would be nice. Other than that maybe making her jump higher to show he acrobatic skills and you're getting close to making it feel like you are controlling Sally.

Again, great job.

#196596 Archie's Dumping All Of Their Exclusive Comic Characters.

I agree with Stranger here; there's a lot of 'facts' being thrown about without anything to back it up.

I too am missing a lot from the 20 years of comic history that has been lost because of Penders and Sega of Japan's mandates. Ones like Elias, Megan as well as the anti-selves and ones like Fiona I personally will really miss; they'll have to live on in fan works, which in my opinion is more cannon than anything that has come out officially in some time. Personally I really don't like how two-dimensional and bland the SatAM cast has become in the comic, but at least they are still 'alive' officially unlike the comic-only characters.

#195927 Sonic Epoch: A Look-Back, The Future, Etc.

Posted by Prince ByTor on 27 July 2014 - 07:13 PM

Was that meant to imply you didn't like her character after Sonic came back or...?

No, I loved the character afterwards too, I just really liked her before; I think you did really well on both.

Well, Sally was sort of Tails' "mother" figure, and I guess that might get a little creepy, but I dunno. I mostly meant it to be like they were both destroyed by Robotnik's creed but in different ways. The PC version actually had a short scene that showed Sally actively antagonize a young Tails who is pestering her when Sonic will be back when it's become clear he's not coming back. Maybe having a scene like that actually helps establish why they are who they are. It should probably be re-included.

It was just musing to myself being that they are the only man/woman left alone and with her being 26 and Tails being 21 or thereabouts, but yeah, you should add that scene in.

Back on topic though, I don't see a problem with putting those drives in Sally's character.

Always a difficult thing about designing a plot-driven game like this .. I could have cut-scenes that run for like 10 minutes because I have that much exposition to get out. But I don't want to make the player TOO anxious. There needs to be a balance, but it should also be realized this is meant for a particular demographic, i.e. players who are going to care there's a story. I suppose if they are too impatient to care about it, then this isn't the game for them. That should probably be a rule.

Don't get me wrong, the game was good and I never got "too anxious" but the story and cutscenes did outweigh the gameplay in my opinion. However, like I said, it felt rewarding when you got to the cutscene after a level.

For me when playing the game the only cringe worthy aspect was Tails' cursing; it was like Sally completely failed him and let him go totally out of control; it was a detractor and came off as being gratuitous.

I actually liked Sally's character, as Misk said above I'm surprised she didn't loose it being that her friends were dead or robots, her boyfriend MIA and her nephew turned into a potty mouth jerk. xD

I really liked her character at the beginning before Sonic came back.

As far as the bloodshed, I say that was done pretty well, it wasn't in your face and such and fit the mood of the game. That being said I never saw the original PC version, but I think it was done pretty well on the GBA one; maybe should have some more in places, but not too much.

As far as Sally's innuendos I actually liked it and did give the game some maturity; albeit it should be more mature and sometimes more straight forward. As I see it she's been alone without Sonic for 10 years and it definitely fits her character's state that she wants to be with him. Heck, I'm surprised that her and Tails didn't get together in some form.

Anyway, personally I found the gameplay to schlep along a bit, but not too bad; I think it was more due to the fact that I wanted more of the story. And in that respect I felt like I was being rewarded for finishing a level more than a normal Sonic game.

As far as the atmosphere goes, I'd say keep it dark, just for the reason that Robotnik has won and has had ten more years without resistance to make a mess of things.

Anyway, I hope that answers your questions; just my 2 cents worth.

Welcome back even though we're meeting for the first time; I've been on here since March of last year and a lurker for a few months prior.

I have played your game and got through it; I love the story by the way. It's nice to see a talent such as yourself back on here!

I have, albeit a MUCH older pic that I don't have anymore.  I have, however, done one with her and Nicole.  Not liking the opened hand to the left of Sally, though.  Looks a little weird.

Also to note:  That Sally pic was for someone else whom had that design originally.  He's actually an Archie Sonic cover artist who did the variant cover for issue #257 - aka Lamar Wells.

I've seen that one of her an NICHOLE before; it's a nice pick. I think the thumb is the issue; it should be further out to the edge of the palm.

That's "way past cool," I know him more by his Trunks24 screen name and have obviously seen his work. What did he think of what you did?

Yeah, the perspective really sells that shot; that character has a lot of energy and your picture tells a lot about her.

I like this one as well, and your Sally isn't too bad either. Have you ever tried to draw her classic Satam look?

#191555 The Princess And The Demon

Posted by Prince ByTor on 31 March 2014 - 10:35 AM

I have to say, your first chapter is a breath of fresh air compared to many of the fanfictions I've read since coming back into the SatAM/Sonic fold. I think you really captured the existential nature of the characters, which really drove the story and made me emotionally invested in both Sonic and Sally's struggle and their mortality. This is something that a lot of Sonic fanfiction writers don't do enough of; going into the feelings, the fears, and hopes of the characters. In other words taking it well beyond the two-dimensional stories based solely on either action/adventure or shipping that has pervaded the Sonic fandom.

I really liked your in depth descriptions of the scenery/objects/characters; it really helped in painting the overall picture and gave me the sense that I was watching an episode.

That all being said, I think it could use just a modicum of more action, but for Heaven's sake, don't take away from the deep, existential narrative; for me that's what sells this story and my favourite aspect.

Keep up the good work and I'll be looking forward to chapter 2.
