@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

In Topic: Lupe The Wolf

Her name is Latin for Wolf (ironically fitting for Sonic names). In Italian it is the plural form of female wolf. Name-wise she could easily be another Latin based culture.

Culture-wise the Wolves seem inspired by generic Native American Culture leaning mostly towards Central American Culture.

You sure? The last time I checked, the name was listed as being Spanish in origin.

I found it listed as Spanish in origin - the shortened name for Guadalupe, which is based on a river in Spain with an Arabic-Latin name. The "-lupe" does come from the Latin lupus, ī (m).

However, her name could have a different origin, since the derivatives of the Latin lupus are present in most of the Romance languages, and could possibly be adopted by other cultures to form names; just like the case with the Rìo Guadalupe, which has an Arabic-Latin name although is located in Spain.

Oh, I see; then it probably wasn't a SatAM reference.

In Topic: Satam References In Popular Media?

It amazed me when I saw that there was a SatAM related question on a Pointless episode (BBC One quiz show) sometime last year.

The question was about favourite food of cartoon characters. They displayed 5 types of food and the initials of the character/s. One of the types of food displayed was Chilli Dog, and initials StH. It was the lowest scoring answer (least people surveyed knew the answer), but I was pleasantly surprised that they referred to one of the less well-known Sonic continuities - and it was around that time that I had finished watching SatAM and was binge-reading Archie Sonic.

(As far as I know, Sonic eats chilli dogs only in SatAM, AoStH, SU and Archie; please, correct me if I am wrong.)

That's a good question, especially since Robotnik could simply extract the information he wants via the device he used in Spyhog.  Maybe he didn't think the bear & equid had useful knowledge?

Perhaps Buttnik wanted information quickly and thought he could scare it out of Cat?

*shrugs*

Anybody have a better explanation?

Yes, that is quite possible, but he would have expected resistance. So if it were possible to extract information by roboticisation, it would probably be quicker to roboticise him, considering that he would be roboticised eventually, but Robotnik didn't. He also obviously did not get the information he wanted from Cat. And Cat was placed in the Detention centre, suggesting that further interrogation was planned, and he could have been roboticised instead.

However, if the roboticisation were quicker, the fact that Antoine was also interrogated and not roboticised immediately makes less sense. Well, Robotnik was not present at the "escargot interrogation", and it could all have been Snively's arrangement - and his enjoyment of psychological torture and misrendering of French cuisine was obvious.

Another possibility would be that the bear and the equid were detected and automatically captured and roboticised, as a default action when intruders are detected, and without the knowledge of either Robotnik or Snively.

12.How did Uncle Chuck create Power Rings, and why did he make them for Sonic before the whole Coupe?

The rings have always been associated with the power of the Chaos Emeralds; being the leftover residue of their radiation. I'm not so sure how Uncle Chuck created them, but the series did suggest them being used as energy sources and amplifiers.

Perhaps that's where the Archie comics got the idea.

The glowing solid in the device producing power rings could have been a specific type of rock which stored some of the chaos potential energy after being exposed to a chaos emerald for a long period of time in the ground. Mobotropolis likely did not have access to chaos emeralds, but they utilised the energised gangue for energy.

Chuck could have designed the device, which captures the chaos energy from the gangue and stores it in manageable amounts within rings which release it in the presence of consumers of the energy, such as appliances, transducers or specific mobians.

During the coupe, Sonic was five years old (as far as I remember correctly), so Chuck probably did not intend for Sonic to use them in combat. Perhaps they were not intended for Sonic at all in the first place. He could have come upon them by chance, discovered that he could enhance his superspeed with them, so Chuck manufactured some for him.

4.What Happened to Cat, Robotized, Killed, or other?

I would assume he was Roboticized, given that's what happened to Ari's group.

Which reminds me of the bear and the equid in Blast to the Past part 1, who were captured and roboticised after their sabotage. Based on the fact that the Freedom Fighters were surprised about how promptly they were roboticised, there would most likely be no time for interrogation. Robotnik or Snively must have known that they were associated with the Freedom Fighters of Knothole, because Sonic was detected.

So why weren't they interrogated and Cat was?
