@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

I'm Leaving Forever!!!

01 September 2011 - 07:06 PM

Actually, I'm not and you don't.

But I am leaving for Syracuse New York tomorrow morning (Sept. 2, EST 9am). I'll be returning on the 5th. I can still do stuff on the site with my handy-dandy phone, but don't know if I can keep tabs on things as often as I usually can, especially since I'll be using that phone mainly to chase that project with Evangelion's/iCON Electrobox's Arianne if I'm not already conversing with family I hadn't seen in forever while I'm gone.

:boobloodyhoo: WAAAHHH! I haven't seen my niece since she was a baby, and I've been stuck in the state of NC for over 7 years without once leaving its boundaries!!! :boobloodyhoo:

So, I dunno. Behave, I guess. Keep pacmancdi's cousin away from the boards and whatnot, and we should be good.

Freaky Adventures In Film

29 August 2011 - 05:33 PM

The weirdest thing happened to me last night.

A couple of months ago I found and friended English-speaking singer/musician "Arianne" over facebook. For those of you who don't know, she has done songs for various video games and foreign films. Her most memorable moment was probably the song she sane entitled "Come, Sweet Death", which was written for one of the most disturbing scenes in the feature-length Japanese animated film The End of Evangelion. I thought that I could possibly use her as a contact in the entertainment industry in the future, but it was also fun to get to "meet" a singer from one of my all-time favorite movies ever.

Anyway, she's currently a part of an electronic band called "iCON Electrobox" and just last night posed on her facebook that she was interested in making some videos. So I messaged her and suggested that I pitch an idea of collaborating for a music video with the producers of a TV pilot I worked on a few years ago. I've kept in touch often with these guys anyway, and we've worked on other projects since. (Seriously! Unlike that other guy I was stuck with for the past couple of months, these guys love me!) It seemed like a natural fit to have some producers who've worked with music and dance artists before to work in this project as well.

I got the producer interested enough in the project to fund some of the video's production, but I'm gonna try to see if I can't get both the producer and the artist interested in using some product placement in order to expand the budget. This way I might be able to get dancers and what not for the video if the video were to so lead in that direction.

But anyway, I thought I'd just phone in and tell everyone what I've been doing the past couple of days. And also to just brag a little about the possibility of working with someone from the original Evangelion series. :dancing:

And finally, the Anime News Network announcement:

The title of the third film was first revealed with a teaser that ran at the end of the second film's theatrical release. The "Q" or "Kyū" in the third film's title is a wordplay in Japanese; the first three films' subtitles are the names for the three classical movements (Jo-Ha-Kyū or Introduction-Exposition-Climax) of traditional Japanese music such as gagaku and Noh.

I hardly recognize this franchise anymore, but in a very good way.

Jurassic Park Franchise

23 July 2011 - 06:42 AM

:zyfingerdance: Spielberg announced Jurassic Park IV at Comic-Con over the weekend!

Why aren't we discussing this yet?! :augh:

This is the first bit of news of JP:IV we've had since that hoax we had some years ago

Hollywood Akira Remake

15 July 2011 - 06:13 PM

So, earlier this year we get a look at how "amazing" the script is. Granted, that's a review of the script, and not the full script itself. But what little in contains is horrendously bad.

And now we get news that Orphan director Jaume Collet-Serra is looking into "bringing the script to life", or whatever they call live-action animes these days in Hollywood.

Well, at least Michael Bay isn't directing. I guess there is some silver-lining to this project. And to be fair, it's not that I'm against a live-action remake. It's just that Hollywood doesn't have a good track record when it comes to the quality of these films. And I don't want that script to be filmed as it was in the review. If they at least keep everything in Japan where it belongs (because, you know, the main characters and even the title character have Japanese names), then that would be a step in the right direction. I just haven't heard of any rewrites since the script review posted in the link above, so I'm already worried about it.
