@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

Every time one thinks that Ken Penders' project can't POSSIBLY sink any lower...

They will be wrong.

Mr. Penders, I feel, needs to change his priorities. He's planning an animation before the comic itself is even done. It doesn't matter whether or not you like his work or ideas; that's just a bad decision. For larger companies like SEGA and Sony, sure, it's doable to jump the gun and start a follow up before a first installment is even finished, but... for a small guy, it's not a good idea.

Let's be blunt as well. He should have spent the money hiring an actress and animator on hiring a better artist for the graphic novel. There's a reason that the writer and artist of a work are usually different people.

I'm fine with Sonic remaining single, due to a) Archie having a really bad habit of messing relationships up and devolving them into constant drama, and b ) well, I like characters to be single normally simply so fans can imagine them with whoever they want. I'm content to leave relationships primarily to the realm of fanfiction; that way, everyone can have what they desire.

As for Robotropolis: it not existing would make some sense. Take a look at the memory of Robotnik and Max meeting: Robotnik looks like his video game counterpart. To me, this indicates that maybe Robotnik never was able to conquer the Acorn Kingdom in this reality, though he did still build a huge army that remains a constant threat, sort of like his game counterpart.

I presume the Egg Armies are the greedy, the outcasts, and other misfits on Mobius (if I recall they changed the name, but I'm still calling it Mobius either way, the same way I ignore Ian Flynn saying Ogilvie isn't Sonic's first name) who find running into his hands the only way to really make a living.

While Penders is given the blame on a lot of this, I think SEGA also did some sort of forced trade with Archie; Archie would get more liberties with characters like the Black Arms but would have to also give up a lot of comic-exclusive characters to do so, whether they are Penders' in origin or not.

Uncle Chuck is nowhere close to being an invention of Penders (as I'm pretty positive everyone here knows), but it looks like he's been removed from an exclusive uncle status in favor of being nicknamed "uncle" rather than being a biological uncle.

Really it's stuff like this that makes me appreciate Sea3on and Sonic the Comic Online more by the day. Neither of them has to deal with this legal nonsense, or SEGA watching over its stories like some predatory hawk. It shows, too; STCO has its fair share of stories I'm pretty positive SEGA wouldn't have allowed, and while I've only just finished Chapter 1 of Sea3on, I'm certain as I read more there will be some element here or there that SEGA would be a control freak over.

#183610 Ogilvie's Introduction

Posted by Ogilvie on 23 October 2013 - 08:41 PM

Thanks to all for the warm welcome! :)

Welcome bro.

I'm a 20-year old Sonic fan residing in Las Vegas, Nevada, though I'm a New Yorker at heart.

Better not be a Yankees, Giants or Jets fan...

I don't follow sports, so no. :P

Ogilvie?  Like Sonic's "real" name Ogilvie?

Correct! I adopted the name as Sonic's real name for a (on hiatus) fancomic project of mine, and I started using it as a pseudonym in places... and it stuck so much I decided to make it my username for all things Sonic-related.
