So Archie had it's Archie Action Panel today. Lets talk news:

1.Flynn talks about how definite the changes for the comic will be going onward.

2. The panel talks about how "Countdown to Chaos " will be a "series-altering event."

3. Kaminski debuts Issue 257 cover, in which the Freedom Fighters return! 

4. According to Flynn, the Freedom Fighters have stopped functioning as a team, and he's trying to  get the team back to old habits

5. Pages from issues 254 & 255 are shown.

6. They discuss and show off "Shadow Fall," a new Shadow oriented story starting with Sonic Universe #59. 

7. They debut Sonic Universe #60 cover and variant.

8. Sonic Super Special Magazine #9 comes out in November.

9. it is revealed that a "Sonic Dash" story will be in the next Sonic Super Special Magazine.

10. the "Sonic Jump" story adaption is talked briefly as well.

11. At the very end of the Panel, Ian says that "technically, we will see Mecha Sally again" and he discusses why putting Hyper Sonic in the comic is difficult.

Someone by the name of NinjaHaku21 on Tumblr interpreted the variant cover of issue 255. This looks miles better than the variant.

I just hope we don't get another GENESIS Wave plot.

 

 

 I guess this brings us to another broader question. 

 

You have been tasked with rewriting the whole origin of Mobius. What do you do? Go.

 

 

I dunno, I've always loved postmodern science fiction, especially ones that put our present modern era as either some "bygone age" or completely forgotten all together. So, I personally like the idea of Mobius being a future, post apocalyptic Earth.

One of the main reasons that I see it as a future Earth is the anthropomorphic Furries themselves. We have: hedgehogs, foxes, enchiladas, squirrels, rabbits, wolves, coyotes, walruses, and an assortment of other creatures that we have on Earth.

For me I'd write it as such, but focus more on the rise of the animals than the fall of mankind.

Nipples the Enchilada. 

MAJOR SPOILERS!

I got issue 252, this is what happens

1.Sonic , Tails, Eggman, and Naugus remember the old world

2. New Mobotropolis is not made of Nanites anymore

3. Sonic and Tails beat the Tails Doll

4. Eggman lands in the Efrikan Plains and is on a voyage back to the Death Egg 2.

5. Sonic starts to remember "old new" stuff in which he sees Robotnik and King Max, but with a Classic Robotnik look instead of a general look, and King Max with a Sonic game redesign.

6. Max, NICHOLE, and Naugus get redesigns in the issue ( Which the only change with the Naugus is the tail)

7. Max is King again and he has a new "Sega-Sonic" look. He is not old, not crazy, and not a jerk.

8. Sonic and Tails go on a journey to find the Freedom Fighters.

9. Sonic likes this "New World" and so do I.

10. A new redesigned Sally Acorn is seen trying to make her way out of the Death Egg 2 which is still in the Arctic.

I can't wait to see Tracy Yardley's rendition of all of the redesigns for Countdown to Chaos. He is my favorite Archie Sonic Comic artist after all.

From the sounds of things, the comic is going to change only in presentation with a few newer elements added in. The series' continuity will still be kept, so no worries about loosing loosing 251 issues worth of backstory (plus spin-off material). Think of it like comparing the "Legend of Zelda" games "Twilight Princess" with "Wind Waker"; they both take place in the same universe (albeit different timelines), but they both have different art styles targeted towards certain audiences.

 

The only thing that remains debatable is Penders' material. Penders has stated that Archie can still use his characters since the whole lawsuit was dismissed, but from the look of things, they may drop them at any time. Possibly due to fear of future legal issues, or they want to go back to a more simpler presentation. Or maybe, and this is a wild guess, they'll bring them back in a new coat of paint. Who knows?

If Ian was to bring back some of the characters Ken Penders introduced, this is a list of characters and conceptsthat they should bring back.

Julie-Su and Lien-Da - Honestly, who doesn't love these characters. Maybe they can be reintroduced in a Sonic Universe arc where Knuckles ventures into the Twilight Zone to save them.

Dimitri, St. John, Hershey Rob' O and his family, - Lots of loose ends to tie up with these characters.

Knux's family 

Dr. Finitevus in the form of Enerjak - It would be an awesome final battle between Knuckles and Finitevus.

Elias - If Naugus will be dethroned, who will be king?
