As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.
Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.
No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!
We open with Amy and the others, almost exactly where we left them at the end of PPP (they return to the middle of Mobotropolis, but their dialogue is different for some reason). They narrowly avoid being battered by a crashing escape pod, being driven by Sally. Metal Sonic appears on her tail, and Sally attacks with her wrist blades (yes, the same ones she had as Mecha Sally). Cream requests that Bean and Bark help them deal with MS, but with no money on offer, and the fact that they're wanted criminals in the city, they flee, much to Creams irritation.
The girls continue their assault on Metal Sonic. A group of random Mobians, who appear to be dressed in a uniform that suggests they're this realities version of the Secret Service, show up, their leader, a purple female bird telling Sally that they'll take care of the threat, only for all of them to be knocked off their feet by a single dash. Before MS can cause any further harm, a certain bi-plane flies overhead, a spinning ball drops down and slams Metal into the ground: Sonic's returned!
After being praised for his timing, Sonic leads Metal out of the city where they begin a race, cut short when a missile launched from the Tornado hits Metal. Sonic is briefly taken aback as the robot emerges from the smoke, only to be relieved at seeing the whole lower half of his body had vanished in the blast, rendering Metal out of action.
With that out of the way, Sonic races back to the city for an important order of business: gripping Sally in a tight hug (little bit of tearage from sonic too ) Sally, predictably wonders what's gotten into him, to which he simply replies it's good to see her. *Ahem!* goes Amy, and Sonic turns his attention to her, telling her that he was worried about her. Lovestruck, all Amy can think to say is "Blaze says hi!" Hearing this, Sonic comes to the conclusion that the Genesis Wave must have sent her to Blaze's world. Amy is clueless as to what a Genesis Wave is. Sally remarks that Sonic is making less sense than usual. He excuses this by saying he's going too fast as usual, but the important thing was Amy is home safe, Sally's not a robot anymore ("Not a robot?!" says Sally) and that there's important stuff to handle at the Sky Patrol. But first: Sally has a brief, single-panel reunion with her father.
Later at the Mystic Ruins, after the mass Freedom Fighter reunion, the subject of the last batch if memories comes up. After filling in Sal and Amy the situation, it's decided that the girls must share Nicole's remaining energy by having both of them touching her at the same time. After being warned of how disorientating the experience will be, the girl both hold onto Nicole:
Sally's flashbacks include a random moment with her and a Roboticized Uncle Chuck, and attacking Sonic as Mecha Sally. Amy's memories are her being kidnapped by Metal Sonic, and attacking Nack the Weasal.
Sally collapses forward, her mouth cupped in her hands: "tried to start a war...things I said...things I did...almost murdered..." She breaks into a fit of emotional apologies. Bunnie dashes over to comfort her.
Suddenly, Nicole yells from her handheld to launch the Sky Patrol: Rotor does as she says. Once the Sky Patrol is in the air, Rotor attaches a power ring to the handheld, allowing Nicole's lynx body to materialize. She is noticeably horrified by what she has just discovered: it wasn't just their reality that was rewritten, THE ENTIRE MULTIVERSE HAS COLLAPSED IN UPON ITSELF.
We switch to the Death Egg, where Eggman has discovered the very same thing. "The last time I used the Genesis Wave, it was on just this planet" Eggman explains "and those energies nearly destroyed it. This time, I changed everything. Reality has changed, but all of that excess energy has been applied to our one little fragile world..."
Basically, the world is going to tear itself apart.
Sonic: "Whoa, hold on Nicole , we save the world all the time!" Tails: "Right! What do we do to stop it?
Orbot: "Ha! Ha-ha! Good one sir, you had me going there, boss. You have a plan yes?" Cubot: "You're a genius! You can fix this right?!"
Nicole: "Stop it?"
Eggman: "Fix it?"
"IT'S TOO LATE!"
With a massive rumble, the planet begins to crack. We end on an epic double-page shot of the good guys watching in horror at the cataclysmic events unfolding below: the planet has broken, and it is absolute carnage.
It's that time again guys! Time for Spoilers! Here are spoilers for issue 255!:
Sonic the Hedgehog #255 Countdown to Chaos Part 3: The Rabbot Written by: Ian Flynn Art By: Jerry Gaylord Colors By: Matt Herms We start with Sonic and Tails flying into Metropolis Zone talking with NICOLE about if Bunnie has contacted them yet. Since she has not, they assume that she’s been captured and, leaving T-Pup in charge of the Tornado, jump down into the action. They run through the Egg Army goons and into the Command Tower, Sonic noting it’s harder to keep the two timelines separated in his head. Upon reaching the top, they encounter the disguised Bunnie, and a Goon with “Tassels”. They are locked in, as Sonic makes fun of Tassel Boy, making a “You Want Fries” with that joke. With an order to attack Bunnie gives him a left uppercut to the gut, knocking him out as he states he knew there was a spy in the ranks. Bunnie goes to the comm, and using the name Scarlett, tells the rest of the army to NOT open the door. She turns to the duo, and takes of her helmet as the text box states “Bunnie D’Coolette The Rabbot”. As they have their reunion, they talk about what’s going on with the others, why Bunnie didn’t communicate for a while, and how they can help her complete her mission of taking a shield generator meant for the Death Egg. As they work out a plan, Sonic and Tails react to Bunnie’s robot parts like they’re in the original universe before remembering that she was made that way when Robotnik first attacked, and it was Uncle Chuck that did it to save her life. They decide that restoring Bunnie’s memory should wait until they’re not in enemy territory. Bunnie wants to know what the two are whispering about, but before any excuse can be given the army wants in. Bunnie gives an excuse as they tell her they are coming in anyway. Meanwhile in Artika, Eggman arrives and gives his regional boss Tundra the Walrus, a test. As Tundra has his transport ready, he passes and Eggman tells him to get back to work. On the way back to the Death Egg Eggman talks with Orbot and Cubot about how the two sets of memories are becoming apparent. Eggman also makes it clear that this isn’t his concern right now, the readings he picked up in Efryka are, and that it may already be too late. Back in Metropolis the Egg Army is using a Shellcracker to open the door, when a surprise call from Tassel Boy tells them to go after Sonic, who is heading to the Shield Generator. Sure enough Bunnie and Sonic are blasting their way through Astarons, on their way there. Bunnie hijacks the Shellcrackers claw after Sonic blasts it, and rams it into some goons. They reach the big door shaped like a gear, as the Egg Army nears, with tanks and Slicers. The door behind them opens, as we cut back to the Command Center where Tails is at the controls, while NICOLE imitates Tassel Boy. Then an Earth Quake happens, as Tails evacuates the falling tower with NICOLE, carrying Tassel Boy to safety. Bunnie Mag-Locks the generator, as Sonic looks for a safe route out. Lucky for them a hole blasts in the ceiling and they fly out safely. Sonic remembers his escape from Metropolis in Genesis, as he plays it off in front of Bunnie as the earthquake in Wood Zone he’s remembering. He brings up the theory that Eggman is behind it, but Bunnie says that it’s also been happening to his own troops. Sonic briefly considers that Eggman wouldn’t be crazy enough to do that, but after a quick flash to the ending of Worlds Collide, he reconsiders. As they head back to the Sky Patrol, Tassel Boy wakes up in time to hear the Clean-Up procedure order. Aboard the Sky Patrol, they encounter Ant, who has finished his escort mission, and is now wearing his wedding ring. He’s romantic for a bit before Bunnie wants to know what they were whispering about. Ant explains he is also here to help Bunnie through this, and Sonic wholeheartedly agrees. Tails heads off and Ant gives NICOLE to Bunnie. Her memories return, flashes of being Sally’s hair dresser, her wedding, being turned back to normal, and Antione in his coma. She hugs Ant, and her wedding ring has magically returned. There are no words on this page. Sonic checks on NICOLE, and it seems it’s down to restoring Amy or Sally. Sonic reassures that the bridge will be crossed when they get to it, and has a brief thought balloon reassuring Amy that they’ll find her once they’re all together. On the Death Egg, Eggman has switched into a fresh outfit, and it seems that Sally has escaped prior to his arrival, but not before a camera snapped her picture. Eggman orders them to track the pod and send Metal Sonic.
-The Freedom Fighter Redesign section states that Sally has a "secret weapon" in her gloves.
-They explicitly point out that Rotor has traded in his gut for some pecs and that he is a "battle mechanic"
-Nicole's lynx form is now supported by a ring as a temporary battery.
-Bunnie has her old arsenal, but it may or may not run off her life force
-Antione wore the old uniform at some point but switched it for his new attire because it's the new standard for soldiers of the Acorn Kingdom. Also his hair is natural.
-Freedom HQ doesn't exist anymore. The Sky Patrol has taken its place.
-The Egg Army are a group of cyberized Egg soldiers that answer to the Egg Boss. When back up is needed they call in the Badnik horde that is commanded by one super badnik.
-Black Death, a new villian, was created by Black Doom to finish harvesting worlds. He is there last leader.
-Eclipse the Darkling, a new villian that will be introduced in the "Shadow Fall" arc, was created to counter Shadow in every way and a unique version of Black Arms. He may be connected to something called the Dark Arms.
I believe that I've said it before, but Archie and Sega need to drop the shroud of crap and let us fans know what's exactly going on and spell out what exactly their restrictions and edicts are. Us fans only getting these ambiguous little sound bites is leading to a lot of damaging theories and conjecture. As consumers of the comic we deserve the facts, that is unless they want all of this fearmongering based on bits of nebulous info they sprinkle about leading to people getting mad and walking away this has to stop.
I really have no clue as to why Archie and Sega are keeping their restrictions secret from the fans, but it is doing not only their fans, but their comic more harm than they realize and could end up blowing up in their collective faces. I mean, I'm not talking about spoiling story lines here, but for them to show some transparency to the consumer; in my opinion if we knew what was going there would be a lot less dissension between the ever-fragmenting fan base.
Well, we are getting Sonic Super Special Magazine #9, which will be giving us info on Sonic's new world, including a timeline. I was private messaging Ian Flynn a couple of days ago about the SEGA family mandate. Here was our conversation:
Me:
So, SEGA mandates say that characters can't have family members. Is this true? If so, does it only apply to SEGA characters?
Ian Flynn:
Yes to both.
Me:
So I have to questions concerning this:
1. Uncle Chuck: Is he still biologically Sonic's Uncle & is not mentioned as such, or is he not?
2. Mighty and Matilda: Does the whole family thing count for Mighty? It seems SEGA has pushed him aside, and I was wondering if this same rule applied to him too?
Ian Flynn:
I can't get into details right now. You'll find out along with everyone else in time.
I'm glad Ian Flynn kept Bunny and Antoine together; he's doing the best he can under the circumstances. In my book I only wished he had shortened the Mecha Sally arc; 2 1/2 years was just too long. Other than that if you look at it objectively he has done a lot to repair the damage Bollers and Penders did. I'm really hoping that he is using this reset to kind of clean away many of the scars left from their tenure.
GUN Jets attack Eggman's ship causing it to crash in Avalon's Egg Army Base (Mobius' New Mercia)
Sonic and tails stroll just outside of Knothole (Which is the Wood Zone at Westside Island)
Sonic and Tails find Uncle Chuck
Sonic and Tails Find Antoine
Sonic and Tails meet the New Muttski who Chuck calls, "Mutt." (Chuck's Assistant)
Sonic whispers to Tails that they should give Chuck back his memories. Tails replies that they should focus on the freedom fighters only, at least for now.
Tails gives Antoine NICOLE and starts freaking out as well. Sonic explains how Ant got into a coma. Antoine interrupts and demands to see his wife, Bunnie.
Back in Avalon, Eggman has turned his damaged EggMobile into the Walker from SA2
He destroys a few of GUN's Vehicles before stealing one of their Jets to get to the Death Egg.
Back at Outside Knothole, Sonic explains what's happened when trying to restore Mobius.
Sonic says they're going to find Bunnie first, with Ant willing to come
Suddenly, a big earthquake causes a hole in the ground
Sonic, Tails, & Antoine save Mutt and Chuck with Sonic going after Chuck's machine.
Sonic gets the machine, but on the way up, it hits a rock, with Sonic breathing in the gas it spews
sonic goes Feral for a bit but then says he's fine.
Uncle Chuck gets Muttski so they can check to see if the villagers are safe and to go to Spagonia to study the remaining samples.
Antoine changes his mind and goes with Uncle Chuck. Sonic asks if there was anything he wanted to say to Bunnie. He says, "Tell her... I am well, but will not be until I am with her again." (Awwwww)
We cut to Metropolis zone, where we see Bunnie in an Egg Army Suit.
A girl on DeviantART named "AwesomeBlossomPossum" (I swear that's her username), has been doing various sketches for redesigns for the Sonic females based on the ones from the "New Mobius." Check it out:
