@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

Political Correctness Run Amok

Once again, political correctlness has gotten out of hand. This time, it's the massive overreactions that have led to stuff like bans on displays of the Rebel (Confederate) Flag, which has further extended to such things as Warner Bros pulling production of Dukes of Hazzard memorabillia, TV Land banning the show, and NASCAR's mostly failed "trade your Rebal Flags for American Flags" program. I've warned people about "PC Stuff Run Amok" in the past and people generally laughed at me. And now, we have what is essentially and assult on the lives of roughly half the US population's persuit of happieness. I'll not say what I think of the PC crowd here, because it involves words that could get me in more trouble than this topic is worth...

I will say that I lump them in with the hate groups they claim to oppose, but are too fucking gutless to really do anything about. Where the hell does this madness end? What're you goinna do? Try and physically remove my Dukes of Hazzard DVDs and toy General Lees? Take away my class ring? Try it and I'll put a deer slug in your fucking pseudo-nazi head, and use some tricks I know of to ensure that there won't be remains to be found...

To the PC-Nazis out there (if you're not one, you can stop reading here if you want): Just because some assholes like to use something for evil purposes, that doesn't mean that you should go after those who don't, you dipshits... If you'd let us stamp out those groups of people who are using them for evil, instead of protecting them (and even forcing us to protect them), then there would be less crime and hate in the world... Less innocent people killed. But, no... The hate groups and terrorists have to have rights, too... You're not part of the solution. You're part of the problem, to the extend of preventing the solution. Stop trying to push your agenda on everyone. That's why people hate you. It's not because of your beliefs. It's because of your actions and attempts to force those beliefs on the rest of us. Get the stick out of your ass and practice what you preach: Let those who aren't PC remain non-PC...

That is all. I just needed to get that off my chest. Have a nice day, everyone who isn't a PC-Nazi. If I've offended anyone, then the problem is most likely with that/those person/people.

Dark Curse: The Rpg

16 May 2015 - 05:13 PM

Having replied to Mayor RJ's e-mail, our heroes soon recieve a small package, containing a rune stone. Upon touching the rune stone, they are magially teleported to RJ's Mill, a 22nd century logging town. Though there have been many tecnological improvements over the years, the overall look of the town is more reminidcent of a 20th century logging town, with the exception of the various robots moving about. Initially, no one really seems to pay any mind to the newcomers, who have appeared beside Sherrif Jason Riktor's truck, in the parking lot of Arfwyd's Diner. The diner itself is made to look like a typical country diner: log cabin design, various old-timey pictures and tools on the walls, and a general feeling that this is where everyone hangs out at mealtimes. The main table layout is a series of 3-4 booths along each wall, and 3 sets of double-tables in the main open space of the room. An old Jukebox sits beside the casheir's counter.

Jason is standing beside his truck looks over the newcomers as they appear, but doesn't say anything just yet.

Crossovers, V2.0

10 April 2015 - 05:33 PM

Way back aroudn the time the box set came out, there was a topic about crossovers with other older shows and whatnot. Since there's been a lot of new blood since those days, I think it's time to dust off the topic once more. This is intended to be more of a silly topic, than a serious one, of course. So, let's have some fun.

The rules are simple:

1: Post the name of the show/movie/etc. you'd like to see crossed over with SatAM.

2: Post an explination of why or what you'd expect to result from this crossover.

3: Laugh at eachother's foolishness.

Here we go...

The A-Team (TV show): The definitive problem solvers of the 80's. It would be interesting to see what they could build from scraps of Mobian and/or Robotnik tech. Also, animated Mr. T throws Robotnik and Snively over a hover pod. :mr-t:

Dukes of Hazzard (TV show, NOT HORRIBLE MOVIE): Robotnik vs TNT arrows fired from a flying Dodge Carger.

Airwolf: Something 2.5 times faster than Sonic, with the capability of leveling Robotropolis before the themesong ends. :augh:

The Thing (Carpenter's version): RJ McReady vs Robotnik. :hairy: :Flamethrower: :Burnbabyburn:

The Dark Curse

09 April 2015 - 06:31 PM

The Story: 30 years ago, a fireball landed in a large lake, surrounded by forest. Back then, the area was uninhabited. But, now, there's a small logging town nearby. There have been a number of strange disapperances since that time, and rumors of some sort of monster lurking around the lake. Some claim to have seen glimpses of this monster. A few have claimed to shot at it. One or two of those people claim to have fired multiple rounds into its head and body, with no effect, and ran away when they ran out of ammo. The more superstitious locals claim it's not a monster, but an angry spirit... But that's just the beginning of the weirdness... Lately, it seems that Death has taken a vacation. People who should be dying are surviving what should be mortal wounds, and are regenerating lost and damaged tissues. And this, my friends, is where you come in...

I'm going to greatly relax the character rules for this RPG, since character death will not be more than an inconvenience... I am, however, going to limit you each to one character, simply to avoid clutter and help streamline the RPG. You are an outsider (and I'm extending "outsider" to include aliens, interdimensional travlers, etc.). You may work up your own storyline for your characters, and even intertwine them if those involved in the intertwining all agree to it. However, the endgame and the over-story will be about this mystrious "dark curse". Your characters may not leave the area of the forest, once they enter. That is another part of the gameplay. If your character wants out, they'll have to figure out the mystery...

Rules:

  1. Turn-based RPG rules, as usual. 2 week maximum intervals, barring notification of impending inability to be here. No strikes this time. Your character will simply stand there looking stupid for any and all skipped turns.
  2. Any non-squicky characters can be used. If you want to use a character from a pre-existing source (videogames, movies, etc), please incude a wiki link to that material, so that everyone knows what you're talking about. Pictures are welcome, but must not be too large. Videos are still something I can't view, and are thus banned.
  3. Once again, this is an RPG not a porno, so no squicky posting stuff.
  4. Character death in this case is simply a means of slowing your character down, and giving them something to think about. They will simply be out of the action (IE: they can't talk or move) for a turn and will be back in action the next one, feeling a bit sore but otherwise unharmed. They will, however, feel all the effects of what killed them during the turn that they're unable to interact with the others. So, have some fun with that for the "dead" turn. They can still think to themselves and would be aware of everything that's going on around them. They're just immobile and mute for that turn.
  5. I will be playing the NPCs, the "monster", and a special DM "guide" character. I'm not going to reveal their information in this topic, as it would ruin some of the surprises and dull the story a bit.
  6. As mentioned, your characters may have their own stories, in addition to the over-story of the RPG. Your characters' alignment doesn't have to be good, pure, noble, etc. You can play as a badguy, one of the heroes, someone who doesn't care what side they're on, someone completely self-serving who may switch sides... Or whatever type of character alignment you want (to quote Bruce Campbel's most infamous line: "Good... Bad... I'm the guy with the gun."). The over-story is very flexable with an as-yet undecided number of endings. Just don't let your own stories get in the way of the over-story, though. I'll warn you if this is starteing to happen.
  7. *Actions like this*. [OOC like this]. "Character speech like this". <>, {}, (), ||, or no surrounding markers will indicate "thinking to themself". This is simply for standardization of posts for better readability. If I can't read your post, I'm going to have to try to interpret it, and you may not like the results.

Carnook: Rules, Registration, Etc.

01 March 2015 - 09:25 AM

Welcome to the planet of Carnook. It's an eath-like planet with earth-like weather and only a single doughnut-shaped continent, stretching around the planet north-and-south along the western and eastern sides.

Ancient History:

Eons ago, this was a primordial planet, lacking civilization of any type. 2 beings came from the stars to set up an experiment. Jed Colmillos believed entirely in the "assimilate everything and sort things out later" approach. Vlad Yvhv followed the path of "test first, then assimilate if worthy", for the most part. This difference in ideology had long been a point of contention amongst the Omnian community. And so, a test was carried out. Along the western side, Vlad releases a cloud of Omnian cells into the rainforest. Along the eastern side, Jed released an Omnian cell cloud into a lake. Then, they left, agreeing to return at some point in the future, long after the biosphere had been assimilated and had time to "properly evolve". And thus, a new breed of Omnian came to be. The Carnookian Omnians.

Modern History: Few, if any, remember Jed and Vlad, and their little experiment. The topic of assimilation is moot, as all life on Carnook is Omnian life. Inorganic matrials are mined and refined, along with organic waste, to produce food and useful materials. Most Carnookian food is simply processed mineral/sugar water with a variety of flavors. That which has no nutritional or functional purpose is often turned into material for artworks. Carnookian artwork is highly sought after by other races in the same galaxy, who are willing to trade for vast quantities of non-processed foods. This is usually because Carnookian artwork contains metals, gemstones, and other things that are of no value to Omnians, but hold great value for other species. Carnookian households are elaborately designed and often require one to shapeshift multiple times to get from one room to another. All Carnookian houses feature a hot tub room, which takes the place of a bedroom. Omnians would rather rest in a nice warm pool of water, than an uncomfortable slab of building material coated in fabric (the fact that it's impossible to drown an Omnian is also a factor, here).

BREAKING NEWS!: A massive black ship identifed as the Omnian vessle "Warwolf" is approacing Carnook! It's known far and wide throughout this galaxy that this ship is owned by the first Supreme Alpha ranked Omnian, Vlad Yvhv. What could the crew wan with Carnook? The world will soon find out!

This just in!: A pair of Omnians have teleported to the surface of Carnook, from aboard the Warwolf. One resembles a black and white anthropomorphic wolf-dog, and has arrived in the east. The other resembles a humanoid black dragon and has arrived in the west. More as the story unfolds....

The Basics:

Rules:

  1. Characters: You may have 2 characters. Both must be Carnookians.
  2. Character species: You will be playing an Omnian Colony. What forms/shapes/etc you take on are up to you. If you wish to have a preferred form, that's fine. Otherwise, you'll be an ever-shifting biomass. In this world, there are no advantages or disadvantages to either of those options, since you can shapeshift at will, with the effortlessness of moving a finger. Omnians Colonies are highly resilliant, because each of the cells in their bodies is a true Omnian. They are controlled by an Alpha (you, in this case), whose mind and soul are the strongest in the Colony. They can withstand extreme volcanic conditions (extreme heat, lack of oxygen, poisonous gasses, acids, etc), antartic conditions (extreme cold), and are immune to acids and highly resistant to fire. They are, however, succeptable to strong electrical current, which disrupts the Colonies' ability to communicate and causes them to freak-out, shapeshifting wildly until the current is gone. Though capable of eventually digesting any type of toxin, strong toxins will weaken the overall Colony as they try to neutralize it.
  3. Squick: Omnians reproduce through assimilation of non-Omnian life forms and via mitosis. A new Colony may also form from a severed part of an oder Colony (such as an arm got cut off, that arm decided not to re-join the main body). So, don't bother with any sex-related topics. Also, Omnians are technically genderless. Personality of the Alpha may be male or famele, but may not switch. In genral, just try to keep the RP clean. It's an RPG, not a porno.
  4. While it's possible for a character to know OF Vlad and/or Jed, it's not possible for them to KNOW Vlad and/or Jed without meeting them personally. Thus, I'm not going to be putting character pages up for them. They're GM characters and extremely high level Omnians. They know how to kill your characters.
  5. As everyone should know by now, I only do turn-based RPGs. I post, y'all post once, repeat until the RPG is resolved. I will give you guys 2 weeks to work up a post before forcing the RPG further. Anyone caught not posting will have their character stand there looking stupid for that round. Please don't make me do this often. If something is going to come up, you've got a 2 week window to notify me, so's I can give you an extention. 3 consecutive strikes and something catestrophic happens to your character(s). I will PM you with a warning to act 3 days before you get a strike. Please don't make me do this often. Most of you are online at least once a week, so you can take the time to post. Don't think I don't see y'all in the Online list at the bottom of the main forum page. Because I do...
  6. Actions are indicated by use of *s. OOC comments are incicated by any sort of bracket () [] {} <> || and so on. Example: *Vlad Gibbs-slaps VHS* or [VHS! I should Gibbs-slap you for that!]. Character dialog should be put in quotes to ensure that I know who's saying what. Example: VHS: "Ouch!.
  7. Please try to keep OOC comments and chatter to this topic. I would prefer that over PMing me, and over cluttering up the RPG topic. This way, we all know where to go for Q&A and the RPG can be paused for me to do some Q&A here if need be. I don't want to be PMed about stuff, because it's probly a situation that everyone should know about, so they don't have the same misunderstandings that you do.
