As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.
Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.
No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!
Red Authar its actually the same mesh one just doesn't have fur applied but if I thicken the geometry up and break up the specularity it wouldn't look plastic like at all. I didn't want to do the work but I think I'm going to do it for comparisons sake.
Leptailurus, No I used Xgen for the fur but it has major problems in Maya 2015. The plastic appearance is mostly there because that surface was covered with fur and I didn't see the need to texture it. I will ad a color spec and bump to break up the material a bit. I think its a standard Lambert.
My whole problem with the fur is very complicated and it can be done but the question being raised is do I want to spend the rest of the year correcting fur descriptions for two characters?
I'm thinking of getting rid of Sonics hair. Its been incredibly time consuming on my own and its going to complicate it even further. I would like to have already been animating. What do you think about this decision? I have a comparison pic on my facebook account.
Hey Red, thanks for the reference. I actually enjoyed that, I didn't think I would because I never played any of the Sly Cooper games.
I see they have a lot of detail for the characters, like Slys' nostrils.
It gives me some ideas for Sally. I'm having a hard time creating fur along the mouth for her. She obviously has fur everywhere but making any sort of mouth expression adds so much problems.
I don't want separate geometry for her two shades of fur so I think I'll work with a ptex color map and it should have good results.
No the Cyclopes Design is not Sonic. I think the character has more to him than that. The spirit of Sonic is not in his eye shape.
Light-years ahead of me is a big over statement. Google "Sonic Wink", by looking and analyzing the images it doesn't look natural. When they do it they move the center brow down close to his nose in order for it to work (some of the renders are practically closed). I do have the two models from Generations on file and I've studied them and how they would animate, there are lots of problems and people don't see them because they hide them well. For instance look at Sonic booms design, what is behind the scarf?...... a neck! A neck increases the mobility of the head. Look at Sonic Booms head movement of Knuckles, its terrible.
If anyone feels that strongly about it then they can help me write it. Sega shows me they are not scared to change design with something like Blue arms..... then they show me they are scared of change, example scarf.
I for one think Sonics eyes can change and have the same spirit. Its simply an art style nothing more.
