Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

Team Fortress 2

Oh how i love thee. let me count the ways: 9 unique, varied and balanced classes to play as, a colourful aesthetic matched by lively characters and a jazzing soundtrack; good modes to play in (no deathmatch however, maybe that's what your "personal best" stats are for), well designed maps; it's a Free to Play game that doesn't try and shake you down (unless you want keys to unlock those infernal Mann.Co crates), the weapons and items fell just right; a co-op mode that is a good take on zombies in and industry dominated by zombies, the pace of the battles is always fast and frantic... and don't get me started on all the mods.

highest recommendation!

Civilization V 8/10... but i'll mention the Mod of Ice and Fire

just as good as the normal game with the added bonus of being able to march across Westeros as any of the 7 houses and other characters. haven't tested this but i think you can use them on normal, random maps too.

Minecraft: If i ever needed to explain to somebody how every video game isn't for everyone, Minecraft would be my first target. Minecraft just has so much going against it for me: lack of a clear objective, lack of a basic tutorial, enemies aren't a major concern for most of the game... but it's remarkable in that it's detracting qualities also have rather good sides: there's no objective, so make one. (I personally set myself the "find diamonds" goal and literally squee'ed when i did). Lack of a tutorial means you have to find stuff out for yourself (which still isn't that good of a point, but my patience ran out even faster with Dwarf Fortress, so Minecraft isn't the most inaccessible indie game out there) and enemies CAN be a major concern and focus if that is your playstyle. Miner, Farmer, Nether-Knight or jack-of-all-trades, there is something for everybody in Minecraft and that is just what's genius about it.

And the creativity of indie games. Two Words: Stanley Parable. in terms of modern first person indie games, you can't get more imaginative, creative and memorable than that. If we're talking other types of indie games, Gunpoint, Thomas was Alone, Braid and The Binding of Isaac are also very creative and do so without sacrificing the most important aspect of a game: Gameplay.

Though it is the creativity aspect, among other issues, why many Indie games that sound/look like good ideas more often than not just plain pure suck for a large multitude of reasons. I shouldn't continue without mentioning Guise of the Wolf, and how that game can highlight every problem with Steam Greenlight. But that is not the debate for this forum.

In conclusion, Indie games are a candle-lit dinner of interesting, possibly even innovative ideas. Gunpoint tried the whole direct-utility hacking thing before Watch_Dogs, and i'm sure some other game has already done something similer. But i think what needs to be done is just a pinch of dedication from the developer to deliver us a perfectly functional game, because games like Guise of the Wolf and Day One: Garry's Incident seem like they're making a profit from "woah-my-god" ideas and concepts rather than being a genuinely good gaming experience that will stay with the gamer for a long time.

Ed Edd n' Eddy was literally my child hood, i didn't watch enough of any Ben 10 series to kinda of get behind them even when i remember watching a lot of the first 2, Powerpuff Girls was... "eh" for me, Billy and Mandy was pretty cool but nothing too spectacular nowadays, and i think KND was my "other" childhood. EEnE for comedy, KND for the action (man, i gotta rewatch KND sometime). and i never watched Samurai Jack, like, enough to really care. Dexter's Laboratory on the other hand... it's a very, very distant 3rd in "my childhood". It was a strange show, like that one episode where he and DeeDee were grounded and swapped rooms. But that's for another time.

But i'm all for the actual Xover (IMO, World's Collide was awesome), my main concern is the artwork, just WTF is up with the Eds? There's squiggle-vision, and then theres just plain bad art. There's something about their body structure and facial expressions that doesn't look like EEn'E to me. Sorry to rant about this particular slice of my childhood.

Reading that PPGD right now. Considering i grew up with most of these shows, the anime art style takes a while to get used to (not calling it bad, just different), but aside for that, i'm lovin' it.

In Topic: Family Guy Alert!... Brain Dies!!!!

Well I'll say that if the Simpsons raised the bar for "jumping the shark" (a bar they've been slightly nudging up every single episode since Season 9) all the way up to the orbit of the moon, then it looks like Seth has managed to launch a nuke, sending Futurama off course crashing onto the surface by nudging it slightly during launch, explode on the moons surface, knock it out of orbit like in Space: 1999 with "The Bar" still around it, and now, in this short space of time since the announcement was made, it's at the other end of the universe, about to pass into the tear in the fabric of reality into a parallel universe where both shows died when they outlived themselves.

I can just taste the "Brian isn't really dead" fan fiction volcanically erupt from fanboys everywhere. Thank god I was never a fan of the show.
