@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

Topics I've Started

*pokes Head In Wearily*

07 February 2010 - 01:35 PM

Umn.... HAI U GAYZ! *Big nervous impish grin*

I've been gone for soooo long! I don't even remember when I was last active here. And I'm sorry I just disappeared suddenly like that.

So, here's a little recap of what's happened in my life.

I started a Emergency Medical Technician (Paramedic) course in August of last year. Before that I had been going through so mayor art block too so once I started studying the lack of time only made it worst. Another thing was my friend(The one I've asked donations for) whose health has had some nasty downs (thankfully had some ups right after too) and so took my general emotional state along with them.

Well, so far, my course has been going great. I'm a top student. Not to sound nerdy, but for me it means a lot because I was afraid it would be too much for me and worried about failing as I did in college due to depression. But I AM learning and I DO like it very much. My professor is an awesome guy and a blast to be around.

My friend's health continues to go up and down, but he's still in a level where he cannot do much of the things he could do before. We haven't even been able to take him out for over a month now. He used to go to the mall with us in a wheelchair. Now he has to spend more time in bed. I visit him often and bring him anything he needs from cash to groceries and a gift every so often of something he wanted. I'm also happy to say that I've gotten a few people to donate to his account and 2 are repeating donors. Little angels I found.

I had been lurking here every so often, mostly checking on the new Sea3on comic, which by the way is looking awesome, but that's about it. The only place I've kept a bit more active is DeviantArt where I write a journal about stuff whenever something I feel the need to share happens and post anything I might have done, but been real slow with art. Decent art anyway.

I owe drawings to a handful of people. The ones who donated I promised a request in exchange and haven't done any of them, but I do have the list and intend to do it....someday, but will do it. It was frustrating at first because i was trying to force myself to make them but then the art just came out terrible and I ended up feeling bad about my skills deteriorating.
So I decided to just take that break and let the muse come back when it felt like. Just keeping myself busy and entertained and draw when I felt like and what I felt like.

Right now I'm still working on it. Just posted something I did yesterday in the Creative Corner section and that one came in between breaks of working on a class project and studying for a test tomorrow.

So, will try to be around here more often again and hopefully provide more art. :]

Omg! Mara's Back!

07 February 2010 - 01:12 PM

I'M SO SORRY! >_< eusa_boohoo.gif

I haven't been here since...forever. Let's see... I'll give you a recap.
I started studying Paramedic in August last year and since then I pretty much stopped being active everywhere, only sporadically posting to DeviantArt. however, my muse continued to go down and even there I wasn't on much. (Will write more about my absence in another thread)

But I finally did something worth scanning again! Something Sonic related and I like it! So, wanted to share.

Hopefully, HOPEFULLY, more will come and this will just be my new gallery Thread for 2010.

So here's the first!

Michael Jackson rant.

08 July 2009 - 08:55 AM

(Dunno if this goes better on Controvertial Issues but it's really a rant more than anything)

Those of you idiots who have dedicated yourselves to write "Pedo" and "Freak" in the many posts about him, they make me sick. And also those like I was who only knew the rumors from the tabloids and what people said instead. Who never did any harm but don't know the truth either. You too are ignorant, myself included. Anyone who doesn't know the facts is ignorant.

Do yourselves a favor as I did and do some research about his life.

No he did not bleach his skin, he had 2 conditions, the treatments helped the conditino but made the skin worst. I was one of those who thought that was true.
I even thought the fake nose thing was real too thought I doubted it.
I did not believe from the beginning that he had done anything to children. It didn't seem right, the whole process stunk to me from the beginning and I can't even call myself a fan. Now the "kid" accepts he had lied about it.

I merely liked his music when I heard it on radio and the few times I caught him on TV I enjoyed his dancing but I never dedicated any part of my life to him like many great fans of him did. So I will not call myself a fan, I just respected and admired his talent as an artist.
I learned he had a nasty childhood and even life as an artist despite his popularity and fame.
He was still very much human like you and I and thus he was not perfect just like you and I.

I HATE when people who believed the rumors use them when someone speaks nicely of him. "Oh, but he did this and that!" Well, YOU are no saints either! NEVER poke at someone's scratch when you have a huge gaping hole in your own soul. People have NO right to judge him or anyone, even less now. He's gone, for God's sake. Give him some respect, him and his family and his supporters. And yes, just like with every other fandom, some supporters are complete retards. It has nothing to do with the object of fandom itself. It's because we people can be THAT stupid.

Now, for some others, I've read and heard that many people have committed suicide. What the hell is going on?! I understand there are people who loved him like no one they've ever loved before. I know it must have hurt a lot. I suffered the loss of Steve Irwin a lot while I know most people wouldn't understand why. He was my hero as MJ's the hero of so many more.
But this is for those of you left who had the thought cross your minds. SUICIDE or hurting yourself and others does NOT help and he wouldn't want you doing that because of him! Do you think he'd be happy his fans are doing such things? He'd be horribly ashamed and disappointed.

Stay alive and SHOW him your love! Do your tributes, listen to his music, watch his videos, SPREAD the word on how much you love him. Spread the TRUTH about him! Teach the rest of the ignorant world about him.
The media decided only NOW to tell his real story. To show how wrong the rumors were. NOW, NOW that he's gone!

I am no fan and yet it pisses me up to find out all this. That one of the reason's he's probably gone is because of all the crap greedy people did to him. those seeking his money because he's a celebrity, spreading the rumors because it brought ratings and the idiots who loved to bash and flame because they love making fun of others to feel superior.

Do yourselves, him and us a favor and FIND THE TRUTH! LEARN! It's good for you!
Wikipedia and Google are your friends. If you don't trust one site search many.
Don't ask me what's true or not or tell me what's what. I've been doing my own research and will continue to do so. The good and the bad. I'm also ashamed of myself that I had to wait until now to do this but at least I'll try to make others follow too. Again, I cannot and will not call myself a fan. I don't deserve the title. I'm merely an admirer.

And if you simply don't give a damn about him. Then don't go blabbering ignorantly about him either. You're making yourself look bad.

Rant off. Move along now.

A Lesson about Eggman/Robotnik

07 June 2009 - 06:36 PM

Hey guys. I wrote this on dA and thought I'd spread it.

----------------------

I've written something like this to people several times in comments, so decided to make a journal about it as I continue to see the confusion.

It was the original manual of the very first Genesis Sonic game were they first introduced the name Dr. Ivo Robotnik as a translation to Dr. Eggman as it's what Japan as always called the guy.
Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog followed that name and I think it's been the only time I've ever -heard- that name being said by Robotnik himself. "I, Dr. Ivo R(rr)obotnik!"(You know how the guy loved to roll his Rs) SatAM Introduced the name "Julian", though it never did mention the Kintobor.
"The name is no longer Julian. From this day forward, I am...Robotnik!"

It was later that the comics mentioned 'The House of Ivo' and the Kintobor last name spelled backwards as being the origin for the surname Robotnik.

Eggman stayed Eggman until they made Sonic Adventure 1, as they wanted to bring the american and japanese fans together they made Eggman introduce himself as Robotnik:
"I am Dr.Robotnik! The greatest, scientific genious of the world!"
But kept Eggman as a nickname first given to him by Sonic's crew to mock him:
"Whatever you say, -Eggman-!"
To which he reacted rather upset.
After the game's hit and revival of a fandom the released the dubbed version of Sonic OVA (Sonic The Movie) where Eggman was once again translated to Dr. Robotnik and Eggmanland to Robotnikland. His robot, Metal Robotnik was originally called Dark Eggman aswell.

I suppose, America wouldn't take the guy seriously with a name like that. I know I used to hate it myself...

But in Sonic Adventure 2, however, even while they used the name Robotnik as a family last name (Gerald Robotnik, Maria Robotnik), he used Eggman in the screen while he threatened the world. "Join the Eggman Empire!" and introduced himself as Dr. Eggman several times.
This was all to make things less confusing for the fans, since from that moment on Eggman has simply been Eggman. The comics now use the names interchangeably as they still have fans from both sides but you will still see someone asking, every now and then "What's his real name? Robotnik or Eggman?"

So, are they one and the same? Is there a difference? Oh, yes, there are many. Do not make the common mistake of thinking of them as the same character because they are not. Yes, they are Sonic's antagonist and they all want power and taking over the world and love robotics and creating havoc and obsess about the same blue Hedgehog, but they are still not one and the same.

Dr. Eggman (Doctaru Egguman):
The original, the one from Japan, the one in Sonic X, the current games and Archie comics post #76 is Eggman, even if he's called Robotnik and even Ivo. He was born(created) as Eggman and that's the name to tell him apart. His goals are to always be after the Chaos Emeralds or any other source of power from the planet, created an army of robots as well as one big nasty one and go and take over the world and take Sonic down with it too. Or does he really?
He IS power hungry and he is a megalomaniac and loves what he does, but he probably loves it a little too much. He never puts too much effort in truly finishing off Sonic or destroying too much. Perhaps he doesn't want the fun to end as frustrating as it can be to continue "losing". Unless he wants to.
Characteristic traits: Round head, wears glasses, bushy brown mustache. Cartoony version has no freaking jaw, he was redesigned in Next Gen to be more human like and so gained a jaw, neck and *cough* crotch. Wears a red coat with white lines and yellow buttons/squares/bolts on his chest over a skin tight black overall. White gloves and black boots with metal details. His NG redesign sported light blue eyes.
He had henchmen for the first time in Sonic X. Two robots called ocoe and Decoe as well as some weird thing calle Bokkun. I'm not completely sure if the guy's a robot, he looks a lot more like a Chao or some alien species... I go with the former.
In the game Sonic Unleashed Eggman has a robot that's part of his ship as an assistant of sorts, as well as comic relief.
His voice actor was the very awesome Deem Bristow, who sadly passed away in 2005. His last Sonic game being Sonic Advance 3. The current Eggman VA is Mike Pollock. Each game the character a very differnt tome. The former a more badass, intimidating one while the latter a more comical one.

Dr. Ivo Robotnik (Doctaru Eebo Robotonikku[oh I adore that name]):
Pingas! Oh, yes, that's the one. Damn the internet for making him even more comical than he already was. He wanted to turn the world into....uhh....whatever he came up with at the moment. He just wanted to prove to everyone that he was a genius and his word, as absurd as it was, was law. The only one with a mother(if the thing can be called that) and also the only one who had managed to have a sort of Super form by gathering all power gems from his world. Never taken seriously, much less by Sonic himself but he was the ONLY incarnation who actually managed to grab Sonic at one point and strangle him. He could have killed him off right then and there, but he just tossed him in a cell, just to prove his inventions were awesome.
Characteristic traits: Egg-shaped head, buck teeth. Black eyes with red pupils, has an iris. His mustache is brown and looks like a brush on each end. He wears a skin tight overall divided by a yellow cross symbol with a circle on his belly. The upper half is red while the lower one is black. Sometimes sports a yellow cape reminiscent of the original Eggman who had one too. His gloves are grey with stud on them. Grey and red boots. His henchemen are Grounder, Scratch and Coconut as well as many other minor robots he makes that get destroyed every episode.
(personal note: He was adorable as a baby, looked like a water drop xD )
His voice actor was Long John Baldry, deseased also in 2005.

Dr. Julian Robotnik(Jurian Robotonikku):
My main guy. :3
He is the ONLY one who managed to actually conquer the world, most of it anyway, and the rest are barred wastelands and random nature areas here and there. His goals are to expand his territory of industrialization and turn every living thing into metal and slaves to speed up the process. He's the antagonist of the most darkest and serious Sonic cartoon. Dr. Julian Robotnik it's the ONLY incarnation to have ever made Sonic the Hedgehog cry and be the only one who has Sonic expressed how he hates him instead of just the other way around.
He also has a pet chicken called Cluck. His henchman or lackey is Snively, who has a story of his own as well as differences from the cartoon and comic incarnations but he's not my specialty. He is Julian's nephew who's been with him since the beginning and though at first he seemed to have respect for him harbors a deep loathing for his bad treatment eventually and desires to get rid of him and take his place. Something that Robotnik himself probably knows but doesn't think of it to be that big a threat.
Characteristic traits: are black eyes with red pupils, round metallic bulbs for ears and a left robotic arm. Sports pretty much the same attire as Ivo Robotnik, adding large pointy pauldrons on his shoulders and a longer cape. His head is also egg-shaped but more round. Loves showing teeth as he actually has a rather large jaw. His mustache is the most modest of all, being thinner than the other incarnations and colored orange. Grey gloves and black boots with Red toe and heel. He's shown to have quite an variety of attributes hidden on his body. His metallic arm can fire lasers from his fingertips. His boots activate boosters by either smacking their heels together or pressing a hidden button on his "belt".
His grudge against Sonic began when a future Sonic traveled to the past and caused him to trip and have his arm robotiziced by his own machine. Also only incarnation to have achieved world domination long before Sonic became his enemy.
Voiced by the very awesome Jim Cummings who really does make the character what he is.
Archie comics added a larger arsenal of weapons to his arm including a missile launcher, a shield and a much lager and stronger laser blast. In Archie comics it seems his father was the one called Ivo, or either as a family name as he came from "The house of Ivo". There he had a brother named Colin who was Snively's(Colin Jr.) father.

This incarnation appears also in Sonic Underground, a more comical cartoon I can speak very little of because I barely saw it, but was voiced then by Gary Chalk(Optimus Prime and Grounder). He was seemingly less threatening though he also had taken control of most of the planet and was still turning flesh into machine.

Sooo, did I forget anything?
I'm surprised at my own memory! Most of this things I learned years ago when I did nothing but search for "Sonic the Hedgehog" and "Dr. Robotnik" on Google~

Online VS Stores: Where to buy...

30 May 2009 - 11:47 AM

Hey guys, I'm dying to get me a Netbook now that I'm taking a course they'll pay me $1000 when I'm done around June 9.

I've checked many stores near my area to see if they have the one I want.
(This one: http://crave.cnet.co.uk/laptops/0,39029 ... -11,00.htm )
But none of them do. I've found it on eBay and my friend has an account so I could have him buy it but I'm skeptic. Already had a bad experience with a camcorder that came defective and though I did sent it back and got my money back it was a hassle to deal with it.
Now, 2 days ago I went to a store I completely forgot existed in my own town and they can order it. This is, there with shipping and damn taxes it will be about $510, while online the most will be $430. Store, however, offers maintenance and help during the process of claiming the warranty if need be so that would be less of a pain.

My very first laptop was bought online and it lasted me a full 4 years before it started breaking down at the lid's hinges and the the mother board died, but it was 4 years without any sort of maintenance and not a single virus because I'm paranoid about that and had the thing full of anti-virus/malware stuff.

So, what do you guys think. Anyone with online buying experiences before. Should I save myself some money and still get good customer support or spend some more to have it from a near by store?
I also will try to check larger stores at the capital like Best Buy, only it's a 2 hour trip. But I do want the best and more convenient way if there's any troubles.
