What will you do when Sonic finally ends?

So anyway When Sega retires Sonic for good what well we do? Me? I don't know. But my life would be in ruins if this guy never appeared on store shelves. I was 3 when I played it in 1993 and never stop. Sonic amazed me because I never seen a game character like him before. I wish I could be like him care-free and always there when you need him. I mean everybody wants to be like him since he has no worries. This franchise has been in my child memories laugh and cry. There must be a real reason we support Sonic the Hedgehog. Hopefully I think I want the last thing for Sonic is a movie simply called "Sonic the Hedgehog." The comic should reach its climax to a ending where Sonic and Sally married. and the last game should include every character (new, hated, and scarped.) And include a lot of famous music artists. And hopefully win sonic best video game/comic/movie/and music/cartoon of the year awards.
But after this I think I still be the same as I was as a child and pass this on to my children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and etc. But Sonic will always be in my heart.
So and the near future (hopefully for the next 10 years) So long, "Fastest Thing Alive."

If it ends, I hope Archie and Sega honors their longtime fans, and ends if not with a marriage, a clear indication that Sonic and Sally are going to get married. Resolve all relationship conflicts. I couldn't think of a better ending than a leadup to the events in M: 25 yrs later. Sonic married to Sally, Tails and Mina, Knuckles and Julie Su, etc.
Here's what Ian Flynn (writer for the comic) said in response to a question on whether the story was headed for a climax.
Medium answer: I definitely have a few goals / points I want to reach in the narrative and I'm trying to lay the groundwork for them without bogging down myself or any other potential future writer. I think I could come up with a game-plan to end the book, and I'd like to think I can keep coming up with fresh ideas. It could go either way.
Long answer (run while you still can!): STH has defied all logic with its success. It has set records, defied odds, all that jazz. I would like to think that as long as it is popular and profitable - which it is, thank you very much - things would continue. But there are so many things that could kill off the book:
- poor market conditions
- Sega revokes the license
- Archie decides to drop it for some reason
- sudden loss of paper supplies / ink / other technical failures
- menacing cyber-lobster from Dimension X
STH is such an oddity in mainstream comics that it really isn't predictable. By all odds it should've been dead a long time ago, not as successful as it is and certainly not with all the spin-offs it has generated over the years. So I can see the book lasting well on into the 300s just as I can see it suddenly vanishing. It's ultimate fate is impossible to predict.
And so I'm not going to. I gave up on that a long time ago. I'm perfectly content to write it for as long as I'm allowed, to do the best job that I can, and to enjoy myself in the process. IF the book were to come up for cancellation, I would like it if we could see it through to a conclusion. But usually when a book goes, it's just gone, and we're all left going "But-but-but....what happened next?!"
Ultimately, don't sweat it. Just enjoy what we've got now and get eager for what the previews show coming up next. There's plenty of other things to worry about right now.

I would be much less devastated, as in not devastated at all.

See, Sonic the Hedgehog was probably the coolest thing to ever happen to not just my gaming life, but to gaming in general. Mario was GOD at the time, and sega was able to create a character that could stand up to him and say "fuck you, mario!" and back his stuff up. Then came SatAM. This was quite possibly the best saturday morning cartoon made to date. Sonic was at his prime in 1993: he had two cartoon series, a very popular franchise that was handled by Sega of America and Sega of Europe, and even had two comics starting up, Archie in north america, and Edgemont-Fleetway in england.
Since 1997, however...sonic's been suffering a terminal illness and slowly dying. i think he would do better to just be retired (a la bubsy the bobcat from atari). sure, i would be saddened by his passing, but it would perhaps be for the best. i would lose the biggest hobby i have, but at hte same time... at least he would no longer be suffering. I would also be glad that Sega of Japan can no longer ruin him at every turn, so i would celebrate and mourn at the same time. (i'm starting to think Dr. Robotnik is on their board of directors... )
I would only HOPE that the comics tied up all possible loose ends before being cancelled, but as ian stated, in the comics industry, the cancellation notice is usually sudden, with maybe 2 months' warning at most. Unfortunately, this also means killing off any and all hopes of reviving SatAM or its universe.

All in all I'll go on living, and I won't be any worse off then I am now.

at roughly "Shadow the Hedgehog", the sonic franchise became unsalvagable. it would take SO MUCH retconning, killing off of characters, and rebooting the series that it would become either unrecognizable, much like it was in 1994, or it would simply fail to succeed, and slide even quicker into oblivion. see, you have sega's addiction to "new ideas" (shit), "new characters for every single game" (also a terrible idea), and the fact that htey don't want local storylines.
frankly, sonic's gaming series needs to end as painlessly as possible, and by painless, i mean as quickly as possible.
comic-wise, the comics COULD have ended at 50.... they also could have ended at 78 or so IF given a proper ending... the whole series (and fandom) are just complete messes at this point. fans would be pissed off that their favourite (new?) characters were killed off in order to restart the series in a proper manner.
See, Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 were fine. they were a natural evolution of the sonic gaming series, and Sonic Heroes was fun, though needlessly difficult, thanks to the arch-villain, Camera.
what sonic needs is a return to pure 2D stuff, like what Bioware (Sonic Chronicles) and Backbone (Sonic Rivals 1 and 2) did. those seemed to succeed, as did the Sonic Advance and Sonic Rush series. If we were to reboot hte series back to 1994, we would have to avoid the pitfalls of isometric 2.5D views (Sonic 3D Blast), and stay purely with 2D. in 1994, we had simply archie, SatAM, and Sonic and Knuckles.
But... if sonic goes away, it will be a bitter-sweet moment...

If Sega wants their mascot to stay alive, they really need to stop having a lot of pride & just stop with the crap being shoved down our throats. If they kill SatAM for good & erase everything on it, then Sonic won't be alive anymore.
