SONIC THE HEDGEHOG #189
"A Bold New Moebius Part 1: Unwelcome Guests" : The Freedom Fighters face an unexpected challenge when the Suppression Squad drops by… and they haven’t come over for tea! Meanwhile, Sonic, Knuckles and the Chaotix are in New Megaopolis keeping Eggman’s New Dark Egg Legion at bay. Includes an appearance by Anti-Rotor, now known as "Boomer"– a name that will be familiar to long-time Sonic comic fans!
Anti Mobius? This wouldn't have anything to do with Ian's attempts to write Evil Sonic out of the story by sending him back to his own zone would it? I wouldn't be surprised. To be honest, I actually liked Scourge and we've got lamer villians we could get rid of, namely
Mammoth Mogul. At least Scourge wouldn't overshadow Eggman and it makes my skin crawl that Mogul can be a godmodding calculating sort of guy to replace Julian and to seem more competent than whatever Robotnik we have left. Every other comic its Mogul.
Granted its a bit dissapointing that Scourge had to be a hedgehog, had to be another evil incarnation of Sonic and all (he was around way before Shadow, and perhaps even metal Sonic though). But at least the cassonova nature is a little interesting every now and then, and made him someone I could tolerate on an occassional basis. I think of Bean, Bark, Mammoth Mogul and the other list of villians, Scourge was a villian who did bear
some potential. Since Scourge arrived in the comic he's perhaps one of the ONLY villians granted *gasp* character development through his dynamic with Rouge! For some reason it was like the Sonic and Sally pairup only it was developed from start to finish, and we actually got to see Scourge a guy rough around the edges and pretty much only looking out for himself grow to care about Rouge and develop some form of compassion. We were actually seeing some character development until Ian ripped it to shreds by making Scourge totally forget about Rouge whom he considered "the best (didn't he say forget the rest once he saw Rouge so why's he paired with someone else)" so he could have a poorly developed (and perhaps OOC) relationship with Fiona who was probably shoved on him for no other reason than to leave Sonic open for Sally. Its boring and Scourge has little to no respect for her. For goodness sake Fiona/Scourge is the most rushed and poorly developed pairup since Ash/Mina.
if we dispose of characters because the villian count is getting so high then why make Fiona a villian in the first place (oh yeah, SonSal riiight), and why not get rid of duex ex machina, godmodding pests like Mogul. Digging up the potential for Scourge would be difficult, but I don't think it'd be as bad as me having to deal with Mogul. The fact he's not on the top of the list for removal is an insult to villany. But anyway, its also nice to see Sally is as OOC as ever. They were better off leaving her hair long. To be honest, its hard to imagine Sally making expressions like someone whose lost all sense. I guess at this point she'd have to be a nutbag in order to run around trying to be a feild leader as heir to the throne and unnecessary to the movement. Because Freedom Fighting is sooo like going to the movies with yer girlfriends at 9 pm. I like I don't go then it shall hurt my social life. Liek peer pressure OMG! It's just sad. If Sally beleives its okay to jepordize her life and kingdom to hang out with friends then she's fit to be neither a ruling figure or leader, or tactician to the freedom fighters. I have to admit in the end the Sonic X cover wins. I always like how well its colored it almost looks like it came straight out the show and Spaz does a good job with it. If I didn't like Sonic X I'd probably have picked it up a few months ago.
Wait?
What's this!?
I didn't know Spaz was a Bean fanboy and I immediately began wondering if Ian were writing the stories. Normally Spaz would settle for sticking his self insert in the comic and be done with it. What a coinkydink.
