@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

The whole Ken Penders part was actually a joke. Someone needs a sip of some OJ.
She annoys me from time to time. Some days I'm fine with Sally and other days I can't stand her. But I do think the story just from an artistic perspective would've been more interesting if she had in fact died.

And I know why you do. Because then Amy would have no competiton.

I don't understand your rational that any one who even slightly dislikes Sally is automatically a SonAmy fan.

Anyway I'm sorry for getting this thread off track. If you want to harangue me for liking SonSal, I'm sure the mods would appreciate it if we kept it in the appropriate thread.

the argument of whether sally dying or not was addressed in a side-story in issue 69 or 70... one of sonic's dreams. one of th echaracters he met said that sally's death as a martyr (dying for what yuo believe in) would have been a far stronger and emotional statement than having her miraculously awaken. dying to defend your country, your friends, even your god is the ultimate sacrifice one could make.

I don't think her death was needed in the first place.

I believe I have said this before, years ago I may have accepted Sally dying, but reading about Ken's attitude about Sally after Endgame turned me off to the idea forever. Plus, with Ken's idea about replacing Sally with a robot double, I lean towards thinking the story would not have turned out so great.

Sally is one of the best things the comic has going for it IMO, I can't imagine the comic without her.

Exactly. I was never agreeing with Sally dying from the start. But somehow I KNEW she was still alive in the end, even just some time before the 50th issue was released, even probably before the third out of the fourth part of EndGame was released.

I'm guessing Sega wants to kill off the Freedom Fighters so they can have the canon they want, regardless of any disappointments, complaints, or even protests. I just hope the Freedom Fighters won't be killed off for good since SatAM basically boosted Sonic's popularity to maximum around that time.
Don't you ever mess with the hedgehog.

Why does everyone think that Ian and SEGA want to destroy all traces of SatAM? They would have done so already if they wanted to, and Ian wouldn't have bothered with Snively going back to Robotnik, Bunnie and Antoine getting married, and NICOLE getting so much development if he was just going to kill them all off.

Lots of Sonic fans seem to be very pessimistic. I guess I can't blame them with all of the disappointments Sega has handed us throughout the years. But I see good things ahead, especially if SatAm returns.

A lot of Sonic fans are very cynical and pessimistic about the Sonic series, I agree, but I haven't met many who are pessimistic about SaTAM. Maybe I don't discuss SaTAM with enough gamers to know if they don't like the series or not, but if I had to guess, it's just that most people don't know about SaTAM.

Still, wouldn't killing off the traces of SaTAM make things more like the games? The games are what the fans are hating nowadays. Plus, I doubt the writers at Archie would approve of copying the exact storyline off of the games and only adding in their little twists to keep readers interested; that wouldn't justify a comic series.

I could be contradicting myself since the storyline of Sonic Universe [spoiler:37mynkkv]seems to pick up right around Sonic Adventure 2[/spoiler], but I heavily doubt the SaTAM tone will ever be completely wiped from existence, nor do I believe that people want it to be wiped.

I hate to break it to you, but the 'SatAM tone' you speak of was wiped from the comic eons ago. What's left are simply characters originally derived from the show, which is not the same thing.

I, for one, know very little of the Archie continuation from the SatAM establishment. For now I am content to read what I can here while inferring what I will. Be that as it may, I stand beside Lord Exor: without further information on the (doubtless complex) history of the original Robotnik (and also his 'descendants,' alas) I remain disinterested.

Perhaps someone could serve to enlighten me as to the long, winding trail of Archie's antagonists? ... Which grim vistas and tors were scaled by ruthless hands and the force of ambition?

Hm, well, then I pose a question to you. Can that statement be backed up with evidence? I will agree with you as long as I know that someone from the Archie staff has said it themselves, but I've been subscribing to the comic for a very long time now(off and on since issue number 75), and after re-watching all of the SaTAM episodes on the DVD collection released awhile back, the same 'tone' still remains in the Archie Comics in my opinion.

You do bring up a good point though. Just because the same characters are around, doesn't mean that SaTAM's spirit lives on. I'll think about this more open-mindedly from now on I suppose. x:

I don't really think Sega wants to destroy them. On the Sonic Mega Collection Plus they have scans of every cover of the Archie issues of the comics. I'm not sure if that's in the Japanese version too, but it shows they acknowledge the comics.

Shadow's kinda declined in popularity, if SU is gonna continuously parade him, it may be a problem. but I dunno. I'll judge when I read.

Setting aside the essentials, Sonic created a good overall impact in catching the interest of many to this day. It's understandable by now if any particular fan didn't get exactly what they wanted.

Edit-let me fix that.

It's been ten years since it's original conception. Some of the elements after all this time are understandably out of the scope of what was intended.

Of course if the main comic continues to fail then this is probably going to tank with it whether people find it a decent read or not. I could see if this were another universe like Sonic X but its focusing on the continuity of the main book. IMO, big no no.
