She annoys me from time to time. Some days I'm fine with Sally and other days I can't stand her. But I do think the story just from an artistic perspective would've been more interesting if she had in fact died.
And I know why you do. Because then Amy would have no competiton.
I don't understand your rational that any one who even slightly dislikes Sally is automatically a SonAmy fan.

Sally is one of the best things the comic has going for it IMO, I can't imagine the comic without her.

Exactly. I was never agreeing with Sally dying from the start. But somehow I KNEW she was still alive in the end, even just some time before the 50th issue was released, even probably before the third out of the fourth part of EndGame was released.
I'm guessing Sega wants to kill off the Freedom Fighters so they can have the canon they want, regardless of any disappointments, complaints, or even protests. I just hope the Freedom Fighters won't be killed off for good since SatAM basically boosted Sonic's popularity to maximum around that time.

Lots of Sonic fans seem to be very pessimistic. I guess I can't blame them with all of the disappointments Sega has handed us throughout the years. But I see good things ahead, especially if SatAm returns.

A lot of Sonic fans are very cynical and pessimistic about the Sonic series, I agree, but I haven't met many who are pessimistic about SaTAM. Maybe I don't discuss SaTAM with enough gamers to know if they don't like the series or not, but if I had to guess, it's just that most people don't know about SaTAM.
Still, wouldn't killing off the traces of SaTAM make things more like the games? The games are what the fans are hating nowadays. Plus, I doubt the writers at Archie would approve of copying the exact storyline off of the games and only adding in their little twists to keep readers interested; that wouldn't justify a comic series.
I could be contradicting myself since the storyline of Sonic Universe [spoiler:37mynkkv]seems to pick up right around Sonic Adventure 2[/spoiler], but I heavily doubt the SaTAM tone will ever be completely wiped from existence, nor do I believe that people want it to be wiped.

Perhaps someone could serve to enlighten me as to the long, winding trail of Archie's antagonists? ... Which grim vistas and tors were scaled by ruthless hands and the force of ambition?

Hm, well, then I pose a question to you. Can that statement be backed up with evidence? I will agree with you as long as I know that someone from the Archie staff has said it themselves, but I've been subscribing to the comic for a very long time now(off and on since issue number 75), and after re-watching all of the SaTAM episodes on the DVD collection released awhile back, the same 'tone' still remains in the Archie Comics in my opinion.
You do bring up a good point though. Just because the same characters are around, doesn't mean that SaTAM's spirit lives on. I'll think about this more open-mindedly from now on I suppose. x:

I don't really think Sega wants to destroy them. On the Sonic Mega Collection Plus they have scans of every cover of the Archie issues of the comics. I'm not sure if that's in the Japanese version too, but it shows they acknowledge the comics.

Edit-let me fix that.
It's been ten years since it's original conception. Some of the elements after all this time are understandably out of the scope of what was intended.
