@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

QUOTE ("Ian Flynn":b2od0hbh)
What is "Sonic Universe?"

"Sonic Universe" will be a new on-going monthly title set in the "Sonic the Hedgehog" universe. Makes the title pretty apt, ne?

What will SU be about?

SU will cover characters and settings outside of the normal scope of STH. So supporting cast members and "ElseWorld" stories will be here. The sky isn't the limit here - it's the universe!

What will happen to "Sonic X?"

SX had a good, solid run. We're taking our cue from "Seinfeld" and calling it quits while we're ahead. That, and given the nature of SU, it's not entirely impossible we'll never see SX again. Just don't look for it for a while.

We will be going out with a bang, though. More on that in a minute.

When does the awesome start?

I can't reveal the date yet, but you can expect things to get rolling very early 2009.

If it's set in the Prime universe (mostly), will there be cross-overs?

Yes and no. Lemme 'splain...

By its very nature, SU will be in a perpetual cross-over with STH, and visa versa. Events in STH will affect the SU world, and stuff that happens in SU will have consequences in STH. We're trying to make it so you don't have to read both to get what's going on, but it'll still be nice to pick up both books each month.

That said, there will be more direct cross-overs a la the old KTE days. More on that in a minute!

Spoilers? Please?!

This info thread wouldn't be very much fun without them, now would it?

First off, there's going to be a pretty epic cross-over the end of this year. Consider this your check list!

"Bold New Moebius" ends with the epic "Hedgehog Havoc" two-part story. Something will happen in STH#196 that sends Shadow and Metal Sonic away . . .

. . . and into SX#40! "The End" will be the grand, sweeping curtain call for the series. Shadow and Metal Sonic will then be whisked away into . . .

. . . Sonic Universe #1! "Living Weapons" will mark the beginning of the book and its opening story arc.

How are they transported? Where do they wind up in SU#1? Who do they meet? You'll just have to read to find out!

Whoa. So what . . .?

I'M NOT DONE YET!

While SU is gearing up, we'll be getting into the Road to #200. Did you think Sonic's "punishment" in STH#192 was light? Did you think I'd let it go that easy? HA!

And y'all have been wondering about Zonic, right?

And do I even need to plug STH#200? STH#175 was just Round One, folks. The final push by our heroes is going to be big, and the results will be affecting the books for literally years to come. That's not hype - that's a promise!

Done now?

Hardly! This is the SU info thread, right? It's time for some closing teases:

- Shadow fans: get ready for a whole bunch of Shadow.
- Knuckles fans: get ready for a whole bunch of Knuckles.
- Do you like it when we fill in little gaps in the history? Get ready.
- It's sure been a long time since we've had a new character on the book, isn't it? You don't have to wait much longer.
- And a whole bunch more . . . but I think I've reached the limit that I can reveal!

Just some info, though I don't think a lot of people here will like it.

Yayyyyy! Now they can cop-out to Sega like never before!

I've said this before...I'm letting my subscription expire next month, and this announcement is only making me more confident in that decision.

On an almost-unrelatated note, the titling of this series is kinda reminiscent of MGM's plans for the next Stargate series...where it's alleged to be open to a "wider, younger audience". I don't have high confidence in that show, and I have even less in this new comic.

I'll be fair: the idea of expanding it so that some of the side characters don't contaminate the main comic is appealing. Whether or not I have faith in them to think along those lines and actually execute that idea is another matter.

But, still, could end up being a good thing. It's just a crime that the Knuckles series was ever canceled.

I certainly never expected another companion series to the Sonic comic after Knuckles got canned...

Hell I was expecting a Shadow the Hedgehog comic that wasn't in the same continuity as Sonic the Hedgehog to be puked up more than this...

Why do comic books feel the need to make things ridiculously complicated? (Note: that was a rhetorical question)

There have been numerous spinoff Sonic titles in the past - Sally, Tails, Knuckles - and it made perfect sense. Is] anyone losing sleep that Sonic X and STH are set in different continuities? Looks like someone is. After spending years 'cleaning up the continuity' (ie. killing characters en masse) Ian is introducing more alternate dimension clutter than ever before. Not to mention this move confirms Sonic X and Universe as a mere offshoot of Mobius Prime... unless Ian's about to retcon that too.

Well honestly this Universe thing might not be that bad of an idea, from what I understand the Sonic X continuity is flat out coming to an end, and will have Mobius Prime's Metal Sonic and Shadow in the final issue, but then that will be the end of Sonic X and their stories...I think...

Can't they just keep Metal Sonic and Shadow in the Sonic the hedgehog comics, and not have another comic spinoff come around. I mean, I'm glad that Sonic X is ending, I never really liked the thought of them making the show into a comic book in the first place. But getting rid of Metal Sonic and Shadow in the STH comics, is like getting rid of some of the action, and it feels as though the comic isn't complete without them.

zzzzzzzzzzzz...*bobs head* wha?

I'm up, promise!

Um er. yeah, sonic universe um... it's not that the idea lacks the potential to work but I really don't think Ian will pull it off well. If he does...maybe he can write for *just* Sonic universe.

Why does this not make me happy? Why do I get the feeling that I'm going to reeeeally reaaaally hate the idea and will consequently not like the fact that the aftermath will take years to get rid of?

To be honest no. I figure that there are other characters who've been on people's minds a lot more then him.

With all the plot goatses being pulled in the current StH comic, its a wonder why Archie hasn't just "wrapped things up" either in that continuity, like with Sonic X.

Personally I think this might not be that bad. The idea of Shadow and Metal Sonic leaving sounds good; we've all hated how there are too many characters in STH, what better way to drop that number than to send the the other characters to a different continuity? My only concern is that SU might contaminate the STH continuity. I don't want any SX elements in STH. I do like the part about filling in gaps as far as historical stuff, that always makes stories feel more solid to me. If done carefully, this could be the introduction of good comic, as well as continuing to get STH on the right track.

Just to clear some things up, Universe will take place in the Mobius Prime mostly. It will be Ian's way of focusing characters who haven't shown up in a while (Downunda FF's, Mercia, Dulcy, etc.). There will be the occasional Sonic X story, or another Universe, but mainly the one where Sonic is in the main comic.

Also Spectre, I don't think that Shadow and Metal Sonic will be sent away forever, just for the beginning of Universe. As well, no Sonic X elements will be brought into the main comic, they still reside in their own universe/Dimension.

Well I never wanted Shadow and Metal to leave the Prime universe permanently, I just thinks its a good way to lighten the load of main characters that are in StH a little bit.

I fully admit: I have very little use for Shadow.

Just as Amy fits the anime stereotype of the obsessive, one dimensional fangirl, Shadow fits the just as flimsy cliche of the anti-hero who's supposed to be cooler than the main hero. You know the one: the character that all the 12 year olds think is "deep" and "mysterious", when he/she's really just a poorly written fanboy idea.

Granted, I never really saw Archie's treatment of him, so maybe they did an OK job...don't know for sure.

this could be either very VERY good, or very VERY bad.

Good ("blue pill"): Basically, this is the Knuckles the Echidna revival we've wanted since 2000. Downunda Freedom Fighters returning? YES! Whoever said that this could ligthen the load or spread the cast out more evenly is right. Hopefully, Ian could even be relgated or shoved to SU *only*, while someone else fills in on STH (Bollers? Penders? Hell, i'll take ghallager and kanterovich over ian "plothole" flynn!). *IF* ian can pull this off half-decently, then it will be every bit as epic as he envisions it to be. However, from past experiences, things may not always go the way you plan, particularly in writing. Example: i wanted my story to go one way and planned it out as such, but when i started typing it out, i found it was going in a completely unexpected (but even better) direction that improved the story. if he can work with a story that potentially veers into left field, he has a winner.

Bad ("red pill"): Alright, SatAM fans. bend over, spread 'em, and take a deep breath. We all have seen the carnage that "hurricane ian" has wrought to the Gulf of Mobius Coastline, killing thousands of echidnas and mobians, leaving ruined cities (mobotropolis, knothole village) and black plotholes in its wake... seriously, this comic could very well strain STH by crossing over TOO much with it, or at least...confuse the hell out of new readers and old ones alike. This may mean killing off more and more of the "old" cast in order to bring in the "new" cast members. i weep for Remmington, Knuckles, Rotor, Sally, Walt, and Rob O' The Hedge. x.x

The choice is yours, the red pill, or the blue pill. here's lookin' at you, sonic!

Sonic Universe is nothing more than a "Sonic Super Special" revival in a 32-page monthly format. Think about it for a sec. They had all sorts of stories over there...alternate and Mobius Prime.
This is just the same thing.
