Anyway, these are just like those LAST Antoine shorts, only worse 'cuz they're not funny. At all. The very CONCEPT of Ro-Becca makes me want to tear my brains out with a spoon. >_<
"To grasp happiness!"
"ERUPTING GOD FINGER!!! SEKI..."
"HA!"
"LOVE LOVE TENKYOKEN!!!"

Ro-becca, I mean seriously, who thought of putting this story up when the 2nd Season was supposed to be about continuity? As if the other Antoine shorts weren't bad enough, a female robot falls in love with him, and everything goes black from there. The acting was terrible, the lines were unfunny, and it felt as if it dragged on and on. I watched it twice, once when it was on the air and another when I got the SatAm DVD set, and I promise you as long as I can still remember the Antoine shorts, I won't be watching Ro-becca again, ever.
I'm surprised Ben Hurst never mentioned the shorts in his interview, especially since he liked talking about Season 2. Oh well, I guess we'll know sooner or later.
But yeah, I think you could of picked another episode. Like I don't know... Ultra Sonic? Sonic & Sally? The Doomsday Project? Blast to the Past? All of those would of been better choices.

Ho boy.
The Odd Couple wasn't any better either, talk about painfully un-funny. Sonic acts like he's got brain damage. At first he's HAPPY about moving in with Antoine (Looks like we're gonna be ROOOOOMIES!)?? And for no reason at the end he says Antoine lives like a pig? WTF?
Even if you were forced to make funny and light-hearted episodes of Satam couldn't you come up with something better than this? Or are these eps some kind of protest message? Way to make everybody hate Antoine more than they already do.
PFFT okay something positive something positive.. Well, if you turn the sound off and mentally block out Ro-becca and all the badly drawn "wacky" expressions you can get through it.. There are some cute bits with Antoine amongst the infuriating and baffling ones.
Other random observations:
-When Ant holds his boot up to the light, the background is from Rotor's workshop, you can see the table Ro-becca was strapped to.
-None of the other uniforms in Ant's closet look like the one he usually wears.
-In one shot, Ant's portrait has buck teeth.
-Ant has a portrait of Sally, and one of a brown dragon.
-Before Ant went to bed he went to the trouble of arranging some stuffed animals on his pillow and putting sleep masks on them.
-Sonic's Super Awesome Chili Dogs:
Cover hot dogs with canned chili, whole olives, broken glass. Serves 1.
-All the freedom fighters have bathrobes and slippers. Bunnie has bunny slippers, and Dulcy has bows on her head.
-I still don't get why Rotor built Ro-becca in the first place.. Does he have some weird Joan Rivers/Bride of Frankenstein/Fran Drescher/Drive-Thru speaker fetish we don't know about?
Long story short these eps blow, but you don't need me to tell you that.

It's kind of strange too, because Disney's One Saturday Morning took over right after SatAm got cancelled, and their shows were just as bad if not worse than the Antoine shorts.

Satam is a series based on exciting adventures with a little bit of humour. When they try to make a story with all humour and no excitement (apart from Dulcy's bad landing) it just DOESN'T work. Even for filler episodes you need to keep the story moving to hold the attention of the TV viewers. I wonder what effect this episode/s had on the audience ratings?
I admit I had a mild chuckle myself over Antoine's Arnie impersonation.
Note also that Antoine remarks "stain in the carpet" while babbling over Sonic's footprints, yet Antoine's hut has a WOODEN floor?
Antoine is using a portable vacuum cleaner... is there a Walmart near Knothole? Where did he get it? How does he power the thing, given that Knothole would have very limited means of generating electricity (look at the water wheel in Super Sonic!)
Now look on the bright side everyone; Rocky can't make us review these stories again for a long while!

It showed an aspect of how the people of Knothole lived. With many episodes it's mission after mission, and those episodes are well done in their own right, but so often in big action films or action series, we can't ever seem to envision what our heroes are like in the normal every day...what they're like in their downtime.
So it's winter. Knothole is under a heavy blizzard. There's no war, no Robotnik, no clear and present danger. It's people living an isolated existence and dealing with a problem that could happen to any one of us (just not necessarily caused by an out of control dragon).
The two two-part shows in Season 2 I really think were meant as lighthearted breathers so the entire season wasn't one long action/adventure. This one most especially is my favorite though because it gave a good image of what life would really be like in Knothole.

1. Seeing Rotor as a mad-scientist type. I tell ya he was born for that role in this ep.
2. Whoever did the score snuck some bars from "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" into the background music when Antoine appears and starts screwing things up. Priceless.

I said it before, but i'm entirely convinced that the only reason they made the Antoine shorts is to show off Rob Paulson's voice talent.
If they had to make episodes without Robotnik in which the Freedom Fighters were living out their everyday lives, surely they could have portrayed the characters in a better light. I would have preferred an episode about Rotor making some kind of improvement to Knothole Infrastructure as opposed to the nymph robot. Surely the freedom fighters should display the same professionalism and discipline at home as they do while at war.
I will watch the Odd Couple again. There were a few "cute" moments and cheeky lines, but whenever that section ends, i have to cut the tv off.
I thought Ant's obsessiveness over his house being clean was a little out of character. It seems like the Antoine shorts are willing to put his character aside and take shots at the French.
"Where do i put my socks Ant?"
I think Antoine should have kept the big white coat, he looks a little better with it on.

Other than that I'm not sure if it should be liked but I'll quote what Sonic said in one of these episodes.
"You can't have another helping."

And who else thought the robot cat was annoying even with her Fran Drescier sounding voice?

To defend them, the eps had as much substance as your post Korben. Ha ha..
*Korben's post only had two lines at first*
