Someone took this picture from comic con of Archie showing off Nauguses new design.
Personally I like it especially the hat.
What does everyone else think?

It's not too bad...

Not bad... I would like for them to remove 'Walter' from his name, though. If they're not going to call him Ixis Naugus without invoking another lawsuit, then they should just call him Naugus. No one is going to take a villain named Walter seriously.

Ixis is a Satam name for Naugus that was never used Archie is free to use it if they want.
Here's what Ian said.
In SatAM, early development documents had him named "Ixis," but he was called "Naugus" in the final script of the one episode he was in.
During the Bollers/Gabrie era, he was introduced as "Ixis Naugus," and there were allusions to the Ancient Order of Ixis. During the Flynn/Pellerito run, this was expounded upon that "Ixis" was both a title and the name of the organization. Obviously, post-reboot, we can't continue on that approach.
The terms "Ixis" and "Naugus," however, are both SatAM in origin and thus safe to use. I have long-term plans for was "Ixis" is now (extremely long-term - as in who know if/when that'll see print). As for Walter Naugus, the reasoning behind the naming was two-fold. First, it was to make it clear we were in a new continuity. Secondly, it will have some alliteration with his other family member(s) (pending editorial approval).
It was not, in any way, shape or form, meant to reference Wally West/Flash. And the fact it happened on STH#252, prompting a lot of fans to call it "nu252," was 100% coincidence. We were too busy wrapping up "Worlds Collide" and plotting out the future to worry about any "cute" nods like that.

Okay I get they want to be a new continuity and all the fun shit and all that, but Wally/Walter? That's almost laughable. Now if that's his name hundreds of years ago before he became Ixis Naugus that would be acceptable where he doesnt want to use that name. That would be better

Most of Crystal Skull would have been better if they kept the aliens inter-dimensional beings out of it. Spalko isn't bad per-say, even her mind control desires would fit right in, if they had a better artifact.
Also compared to Walter who just wants to live forever, she is actually more villainous. Walter is a villain based on his means, she's a villain based on her means and goals.
But Crytal Skull still sucks.

Ixis is a dumb name. A really dumb name. It only worked due to it being the Cult/Group/Order name. Besides, everyone called him Naugus anyways so who needs Ixis or Walter anyways?
I believe the true reason for calling him Walter is to give him something they can make fun of. Since Sonic is a rebellious teen, he and his cohorts need to be able to make fun of their enemies' names. Naugus has what, "Naugy" and "Gus"? Not much to work with. Walter being an actual name and not a "fantasy" name gives them more material to work with, allowing for Sonic and co to make fun of Naugus.
Like we're doing.

I think the hat makes him too likable looking. He's still a bad guy right? He shouldn't look likable.

Heh, that's plausible. Sonic -does- enjoy taunting his foes ^.^
...
Still not sure what to think of the new design tho'...the wizard hat is such a cliche.
