After Ian Flynn said he would Sonic and Sally are now just friends in the new universe, is anyone worried this will mean fewer people will make fanworks about Sonic X Sally?

You kidding? This is the Sonic fanbase we're talking about here. They'll ship Sonic with practically every character he ever interacted with.

That's the sad part...
Some say that he knows 2 facts about ducks, and both of them are wrong. And that 61 years ago he accidentally introduced Her Majesty The Queen to a Greek racialist. All we know is, I'm going to the tower now to have my head cut off, and he is called The Stig.

It isn't to ship characters who've never met....it's bad to ship characters who obviously make bad couples and post images of it on the internet.

I think Sonic and Sally work best as just friends who are kind of attracted to each other but don't know how to react to it. I think if Ian gave them little awkward moments where you can tell they kind of like each other, that'd be great. But I wouldn't want to see it go further than that.

In any fanbase, it seems that all characters have to do is be in the same room and some fans ship them.
I hope fans that are good at art and like Sonic and Sally together continue to do art. We need to make sure Sonic and Sally are not forgotten, which is what I do have some concern about that they will be forgotten and so never be a couple. At their best when done well, I think Sonic and Sally work well as a couple, I do want to do see Sonic and Sally be a couple permamently and eventually marry(this can wait until the end, and they can take their time on writing the relationship well). I want their relationship to have that basically happy ending.

I don't know... today the majority of the SegaSonic fans are sort of not into this relationship thing between Sonic and Sally no more. But, the fans are always okay with Sonic and Amy being together. I don't know why?... maybe it's because Amy is part of the game canon and Sally is not part of it. And all these years the Sonamy supporters seems to be growing bigger then the Sonally supporters. HOWEVER, the Sega Corporation still refused to let Sonic be in a relationship with any girl including Amy or Sally. That's why Ian Flynn decide to make them as friends instead.
And is the Sonic franchise still aim for small children? I'm just saying that because kids today still think romance is gross. No wonder Ian Flynn decide to change the story (Or is it because of the rumors that the Sonamy supporters told him no Sonally relationship? I don't know).
And you know, I used to be a big Sonally supporter, but I think it's best for Sonic if he remains single as he should be. And I'm sure he'll stay like that forever and ever until the day we died. I still like Sally and Amy and they are good characters, but like I've said before: It's best for Sonic if he remains single.
And if anybody out there wants to make a Sonally or Sonamy fanworks.. HEY! IT'S A FREE WORLD BABY!

Not surprised, really...as what LogiTeeka said was pretty much on point. Heck...if you guys remember the gangbusters of shipping that took place back when all of the continuities (games, AoStH, SatAM, Underground, Archie, Fleetway, OAV) were a thing, you know how bad it got.

But there isn't many fanart of it on DeviantArt, nor is there many new Fanfics of it on the Internet.

Sonic and Sally's fanbase has to keep active and try to win over more fans, the newer younger generation, that is the only way, I think, that Sonic and Sally still have a chance to end up together.
