EDIT: Oops, this whole post wasn't supposed to be directed toward RedAuthar, just the beginning.
On the other hand, Penders is suing SEGA over the inclusion of the comic covers in Sonic Mega Collection, he sued them over Sonic Chronicles (which didn't feature the characters), and every attempt at including them into the main SEGA Universe has failed. I highly doubt SEGA is willing to try again.
Just to be clear, it is my understanding that virtually all of the material in the comics post-reboot is fully secured copyright-wise by Sega. (Mega Man stuff excluded, lol.) Sega wouldn't not include the Archie characters because of some superstitious idea that bad things will happen to them, just because: Ken Penders. That isn't logical.
There are a number of reasons why they wouldn't though. For one thing there are plenty of Sonic fans whose reaction to seeing the Archie characters in a game would be "NO!!! ARCHIE CHARACTERS SUCK!!!!!!"
But keep in mind that there already are SatAM characters in the Sonic games. For instance, there's Sonic, Tails,... *gets killed*
No but seriously, seeing Freedom Fighters in some other form of media would be cool, but just remember that it would just be cool. It's not like there's something instrically great about them; they're just characters we happen to like. My point being, don't treat this like some grave, serious situation!
If they've got any shot of showing up in something more than the comics, it would probably either be in Sonic Boom or the live action movie, since those are made in the US. I say we start a petition to include a framed picture of Snively somewhere in the movie. That would be amazing!!!
