@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

For years the whole anti-furry mentality has been getting more and more out of control. It was getting to the point of no longer being funny, not even sad, but scary. I mean some of these fanatics go on and on like we're not even people and that we're all freaks and that killing us ought to be legal. And for years I've been warning people that something terrible would happen if something is not done. But no one took me seriously, always claiming that I was just "feeding the trolls" or "butthurt" or some retarded bullshit. They clearly did not see the danger of this culture of hate that was clearly festering.

And now, unfortunately, I have been vindicated. Now the anti-furry mindset has literally reached the point of domestic terrorism. I just learned that at midwest furfest of 2014, someone thought it would be funny or noble to deliberately leak chlorine gas into the convention.

But don't take MY word for it.

Thankfully, only 19 people were sent to the hospital and all of them survived.

And you know what? Instead of realizing that this is getting out of control and seeing the metaphorical blood form on their hands, the furry-haters are getting a BONER out of this. If THIS doesn't show how much of a sociopath they are to everyone, I don't know what does. You know, I have often have been criticized for comparing furry-haters to the Nazis. But is it really that much of a stretch to compare zealots who think that people who are a little different than them are sub-human and worthy only of death? Is it really much of a stretch to compare fanatics that have murdered people with poisonous gas to someone who attempted the exact same thing? In fact I think that's what influenced this decision.

I hope they find the mother-fucker who did this and charge him for attempted murder.

Uh, no. There's no overwhelming anti-furry persecution mentality going on. Most people either don't know what a furry even is, or if they do, they don't care. Just like any other subculture, haters will hate and incidents will happen.

I feel sorry for those who had their night ruined. I think the guy who is responsible for it is a dick and deserves some discipline. The furry community should do what they've always done, keep on keeping on with their own thing and not let isolated incidents stop them from doing what they want to do. That's about as far as my feelings on this event go.

Not overwhelming, but clearly not to be underestimated either.

Most people either don't know what a furry even is, or if they do, they don't care.

But that is not the part I even have a problem with.

Just like any other subculture, haters will hate and incidents will happen.

So poison gas attacks happen frequently? Are these conventions or are these war-zones now?

I feel sorry for those who had their night ruined.

Forget about that, 19 people could have died.

The furry community should do what they've always done, keep on keeping on with their own thing and not let isolated incidents stop them from doing what they want to do. That's about as far as my feelings on this event go.

And I completely agree with that. As soon as people start being afraid of being furries, then the attack was successful.

Besides, didn't Sonic's parents fight people who think like this idiot during the Great War?

Would your response have been different if this were a Game Convention?  An Anime Convention?  A freaking Yo-Yo Convention?

How many people got seriously hurt during the Zombie Walk not too long ago?  And they weren't even participating.

This could have easily happen at any other convention.  How many DnD Players are accused of being Devil Worshipers just for playing a over glorified game of make believe?  I received the same accusation for playing Star Wars D6 and freaking Pokemon TCG.

Yes it is tragic, and yes it is terrifying that things have gotten this bad, but it has always been this bad, and most likely will still be for years to come.  Rather than point fingers, future Furry Cons will just have to better prepare in case of repeat incidents.

Besides, didn't Sonic's parents fight people who think like this idiot during the Great War?

Uh...not really.  In fact it was the Mobians who were racist of the Overlanders by not including them into their Great Civilization because they were too "aggressive".  Then Paladin accidentally shot Emerson which caused the King at the time to hate Overlanders even more.  Later still Naugus had to USE FREAKING MAGIC to make the Overlanders attack the Mobians.  And during the war when two scouts had discovered that the war was pointless and futile, Kodos, a Mobian, had both killed so the war could continue.  If we're going to judge one side as evil, that side would be the Mobians, so rather Sonic's Parents fought for people who thought like that idiot.

And this is only Archie Canon.  The SatAM Great War's details weren't revealed.  We don't even know if Sonic's parents fought, or if he had any.

I have to side with Lewis on this one. Far too many people see the word "furry" and have a knee-jerk bad reaction these days. And everyone who doesn't, is apathetic about it. How is it that I can bring down a world of hurt by calling some gay guy the F-word, and equally incur such wrath of the internet by professing to be a furry? For those of us who can be classifed as furries, or identify as such, such things are a striking hipocracy. We're not all a bunch of fetishists, you know... Some of us are just disenchanted with humanity, or simply like to use furry characters rather than humans because they've got more advantages (speed, durability, better senses, claws, that sort of stuff), or because they can be more expressive (a human snarling is laughable, a snarling wolf is scary). May the person or people responsible for the attack get what's coming to them. If we're luky, they'll be found dead, choked on their own chlorine gas... May they burn in hell, along with all the other rabid anti-furries out there...
