This seems like a pointless hypothetical question. What kind of answers are you expecting? Why summer 1998, exactly?

It should be released in August 1998. Also, the Sonic movie picks off two years after "The Doomsday Project", that involves roboticizing.

Uh... Is this some sort of new trend or something?
You are aware it is 2014, right? So how would we go about getting a film made and released 16 years ago?
Also, I'm pretty sure DiC is defunct now.

You need to make your questions more specific than "what if...?" if you want to have a discussion that could go anywhere. It would also help if you provided a possible answer to your own question; it gives people an idea of what sort of answers you're expecting. What do you think would happen if there were a SatAM film released in 1998?

Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie is released in July 1998, by Miramax Pictures, SEGA and DiC Entertainment. It features Sonic, Sally, Nicole (computer form and holographic lynx-form), Antoine, Tails, Bunnie, Rotor, Lupe, Griff, Dulcy, Uncle Chuck, King Acorn, Snively, Naugus and Robecca (who is possessed by Naugus), and introduces Knuckles and his Chaotix, and Amy Rose into the SatAM world. The movie competed to Disney's Mulan, but it has a financial success.
Both Naugus and Robecca die in the end. Robecca is thrown to the volcano, and melts into the lava (screaming), and Naugus gets stabbed to death by Sonic, and Snively is sentenced to prison, and Sonic and Sally get married, and Bunnie is confined to a wheelchair after losing her robotic limbs to Robecca before the end.
The financial success of the Sonic movie, meant that DiC Entertainment still airing Sonic Underground on TV. Sonic Underground ran until 2004, and Sonic X was delayed to 2006 and ran until 2012. Sonic Boom still airs on Cartoon Network on 2014.

Honestly, this is a pretty specific supposition you're coming up with here, what made you think of it? In any case, I guess it would be... cool? I guess?

Sounds like a fairly lame take on what could've been a good idea. We've had discussions on Sonic movies before. I rather like my idea of a movie effectively either taking the place of, or setting up Season 3. I'd start it off with Dulcy crashing into Ant, and effectively sending both to a hospitalish hut for most of the movie. And toning down their more annoying qualities a little with some character growth when they get back into the actoin. Set it up like an action movie. I'm of the belief that too much darkness added would be a bad thing. A little here and there to help the goodguys grow a bit as characters is just fine. But setting up deaths and major trageties could be taking it a bit too far, as one risks ruining things.

I hate these"what if" questions. I mean... What if what? On something with a more specific background...Okay I can see a debate. With this question.. No.
I'll be blunt. This topic is stupid. The point of it is stupid. I could say the creation of SatAM film would be the destruction of the universe. What if eh?
I better topic would be just saying "Hey I think if a sonic movie was made Yadda Yadda Yadda Sonic Boom Bla Bla Sonic X, some crazy Robecca thing and fun times".
----That would have been a better topic. Get to your point when you create a topic. Dont go asking some hypothetical question that can be answered in any direction. Because I still think the creation of a SatAM movie would have ended with the destruction of the universe.

Ah hell sorry I went off there. I just had the end of a horrid week. Ive been ready to strangle the first person to do something for a few days now.. But Ive finally relaxed a bit today. Work hasn't been calling me a hundred times ..yet. plus other things. So.. My bad. Just one of those weeks where Ive been on edge. Actually probably closer to 2 weeks.
