An idea has struck me, and I don't want it to get lost in the infinitely big topic. Here, I ask that you post about things that have meaning for you. People, pets, movies, games, and music are disqualified. It has to be a physical object that you own. It can be something small, and seemingly insignificant, or something more substancial. I'm going to also disqualify vehicles, guns, and houses, though, because those are too obvious and have meaning for everyone. This has to be about something that has meaning to you, beyond whatever uses the object may have (such as a hammer being a tool). You need also tell why it's important to you.
If I haven't listed it as being disqualified, then it's fair game. If you wish, you may also tell the story of how it came to have meaning for you, or whatever led up to you getting it.
1: Mid-sized claw-hammer. Belonged to my dad. One of the few things of his that I was able to claim when he died.
2: Worn and scraped and scratched metal twist pill-containter key chain. Same as with the hammer.
3: Decapitated heavy-duity ratchet handle. Belonged to my grandpa. When the ratchet head broke, grandpa cut off the head and used the handle for a punch. It's been beaten on many a time, pushing out large bolts that have been sheered off via the awesome forces exerted upon farm equipment. I picked it up so it wouldn't be scrapped or sold following is stroke.
4: 18-year-old Colman machete with slight bend in the blade. Bought to 1-up my brother's with his knife collection. Turned out to be quite useful for decapitating snakes. Bent slightly by accident, and mostly bent back into shape.
5: Off-brand swiss army knife. Bought by my grandma as gifts to all the guys, the last Christmas we had with her.
6: Large hunting knife with 8" blade with militaristic tiger emblem at base of blade and handle that seems built more for ceramony than practical use. A gift from my grandma, before she got cancer. Purchased from a flea market, and the origional basis of Rick Tyger's hunting knife.
7: Formerly blue Yatming toy truck, labled "Cheveorlet Stepside". A gift from my great-grandpa, who died the year before my brothe was born. Not the first of my collection of toy cars and trucks, but one that's always stood out.
