So there's an article on Polygon containing multiple Sonic and Eggman concepts for the Sonic Boom franchise while in early development.

Personally, I really like most of these designs - especially the ones with the t-shirt and shorts. Eggman would have looked really weird though, especially with the finalised Sonic design right next to his concepts.

 

But I imagine most of these were made in order to say "Hey, we brainstormed some ideas, but we felt going with the familiar modern design just looks better", when in all probability they were told not to deviate far in the first place.

 

What do you guys think?

Wow...they don't look bad...but they look like they were going to fly at all.

In my honest opinion, had Sonic been given that sort of design in SatAM, he wouldn't have looked so out-of-place.



My personal favorite is probably this design (I don't know why, exactly). It kinda looks like a cute combination of Mickey Mouse and Kid Goku.

I personally prefer the designs on the top row here:

 

 

I like the t-shirt and shorts design, and the face is slightly Disneyish. I just really really like them.
