Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

The Great War

A Sonic the Hedgehog RPG

 

The World of Mobius has broken into a bloody and savage war.  The rivalry and hatred of the Overlander Nations and the Kingdom of Acorn has boiled over.  Mobians and Overlanders take arms against one another in a War that will forever shape Mobius’s History. 

And you are right in the middle of it.  Will you and your name rise to glory or will you die alone in the mud?  Shall you defend your homeland with honor, or sell your sword to the highest bidder?  

The choice is yours, but the Fate of Mobius rests in your hands.

 

The Great War is an Sonic the Hedgehog RPG based on the Great War of Mobius featured primarily in the Archie Comic Universe.  It is briefly acknowledged in SatAM as well, but little is revealed about it.  As such The RPG is heavily based on the Archie Version, but uses elements from SatAM, AoStH, Sonic X, Underground, Sonic the Comic (to a very minor extent as I know very little about this canon), the OVA, and the Games.

 

WARNING:  This RPG is NOT turn-based.  If you fall behind PM me and I’ll catch you up.  If you start to feel left out, PM me and I’ll see to fixing that.

 

RULES:

·         Be Polite – The Main Rule is to be respectful to other players.  Try not to ignore or drown out Players with your own posts.  Be Respectful to others’ opinions and choices.

·         Power Level Below 9000 – You are not all powerful.  In fact likely in this RPG your character will be rather weak.  If you get hurt, you get hurt. 

·         Timeline – This story takes place before the Main Sonic storyline.  Try to keep that in mind while you’re posting.  If you want to play a character related to a Main Sonic Character you can save for the following list of Characters you can’t play:

o   The Main Sonic Cast

o   Either Sonic’s Mom or Dad.

o   Either Sally’s Mom or Dad.

o   Either Tails’s Mom or Dad.

o   Either Robotnik’s Mom or Dad.

o   Either Snively’s Mom or Dad.

o   Robotnik

o   Snively

o   Blaze, Silver, or any Alt Dimension Characters.

o   Abraham Tower (GUN Commander)

o   Hugo Brass

o   Smith

o   A character not From the Sonic Universe

o   Ancient Walkers

o   Lazaar

o   The Guardian

o   That guy….Ruler of the Pants….whatever he was called.

·         Recreating – If you want to use someone from a non-Sonic series, you have to convert them to be in the Sonic universe, simple as that. 

·         Character Limit – There isn’t one.  Just don’t overload yourself.

Alignments – Each of Your Characters Shall be Aligned one way or another.  You Alignment can change as the game Progresses.  Your Alignment also affects your character history.

1.       The Grand Army of Acorn – The main Mobian Forces.  GAA characters are not trained to use firearms beyond crossbows. 

·         King’s Secret Servie – Special Operations Unit for the King.

·         Mobian Militia – Average Joes who took up Arms to Fight.

·         Guerrillas – Hit and Run Fighters.

·         Mobian Allegiance – Mobian Soldiers from Allied Nations

2.       Allied Overlander Military – The Main Overlander Forces. 

·         G.U.N. (Guardian Units of Nations) – Elite Soldiers.  Best of the Best, but they’re only Human.

·         Tamers – Special Forces Units Trained to Capture and Enslave Mobians.

·         House of Ivo – Knights of the Overlander Nations, specialize in Robotics.

3.       Echidnas – Mobian Splinter Group that declared neutrality in the War.

·         E.S.T. (Echidna Security Team) – Echidna Police Force.  Acts as Military During Time of War.

·         Nocturnus Clan – Echidna Splinter Group that broke away during ancient times.  Uses unique ancient Technology.

·         Dark Legion – Second Echidna Splinter group that broke away more recently.  Uses more modern Technology and Cybornetics.

4.       Dingos – Mobian Splinter Group that Hates the Echidnas.

·         Dingo Regime – Military forces of the Dingos.

5.       Kingdom of Soleanna – Overlander Splinter Group. 

·         Knights of Soleanna – Soleanna’s Elite Military Forces.  Highly Dangerous.

6.       War Claw Rebellion – Rebellious Movement in the Kingdom of Acorn.  Hates all outsiders.

7.       Mercenary Forces – Soldiers for Hire.  Can be from any Nation except Soleanna.

Also due to the nature of this RPG being a prequel...you can alter history.  How much of it I won't say...but you can make some substantial changes.

You could alter them...but the RPG plays off the fact that you're a foot soldier in The Great War, so you are supposed to feel weak, mortal, and vulnerable, at least at the start.

I planned on severely nerfing them both, Inertia can't actually control the law of inertia and Dirge will have a movement impediment, limiting him to hopping, which can tire him out. Inertia would be a merc, as per the usual. I'm not too sure about Dirge though

Age: 40 years

 

Species: Humanoid Robot

 

Alignment: Mercenary

 

Personality/Description: Inertia is cocky and arrogant, constantly flying head first without hesitation. While he doesn't think far ahead, he can make split second calculations at will, so his strategy is to wing it and see what happens. Shockingly, this strategy tends to work out well for him in the end. He is neither hulking nor lean, resembling a human wearing armor inspired by the Megaman X franchise, just painted white with hot rod flames. On pretty much every surface of his chassis, save his face, Inertia has hidden thrusters that will foldout when needed. These allow him omnidirectional flight and frightening agility, able to slow from Mach 1 to a halt in no more than 20 feet. This agility coupled with his lightning fast reaction time allows him to dodge blows many would deem impossible, Inertia is even able to dodge low velocity bullets at point blank, and high velocity bullets at 50 feet. However, he cannot dodge indefinitely, using thrusters generates substantial heat and he must use his thrusters sparingly lest they melt. The thrusters on the bottoms of his feet, palms, and shoulder blades are resistant to over heating because they are constantly exposed and well ventilated, allowing air to cool them easily. Inertia can also project a special shield around himself similar to Megaman X's fully charged Rolling Shield shot. This shield is like a one way mirror, mater can come out but nothing but light and air can get in. This shield is 100% indestructible and impenetrable, Inertia uses this to his advantage as a weapon and not just for defense by using his body as a flying wrecking ball to crash through heavily reinforced concrete bunkers up to 10 feet thick. This shield cannot be held for more than 10 seconds before requiring 3 seconds to recharge, so his defenses are not perfect 

 

History: Inertia is high powered bunker busting war machine created by GUN, but was shelved 90% through development due to lose of funding and concerns about using a sentient robot for that specific purpose. Inertia waited for nearly 40 years in storage until he was stumbled upon by none other than Rouge the Bat while she was searching through the GUN storehouse for anything interesting. Happening across Inertia's storage unit and flipping through the paperwork on "Project Wrecking Ball", Rouge took interest in him and booted him up. Upon waking and getting an explanation of his status from Rouge, Inertia thanks her for releasing him before leaving GUN behind to find his way through life. After reading through his own paperwork, he discovers that he is lacking something called the "Juggernaut Drive" a device that would allow him to temporarily warp the laws of inertia and make him immune to a loss of momentum during an impact, effectively making him unstoppable once started. Further reading revealed to him such a device doesn't exist, yet. The idea was scrapped with him when the funding ran dry. So now Inertia works as a mercenary, trying to raise the money to continue the funding to complete him. He often works along with Rouge, partly out of a sense of honor to repay her for giving him freedom, but mostly because of the friendship they developed. 

 

 

 

 

Name: Real name unknown, answers to "Dirge"

 

Age: Unknown, but his death date confirmed on October 9th, 1735

 

Species: Jiangshi

 

Alignment: Mercenary

 

Personality/Description: Dirge is a Jiangshi, an incredibly powerful undead. His personality varies due to his condition. When healthy, Dirge is quite intelligent and wise for an undead, but the more he decays, the more zombie like he becomes, reacting on pure animalistic instinct. Dirge can reverse decay by consuming food, grow stronger and sturdier by consuming souls, and heal wounds by consuming anything else. With physics breaking jaw and teeth strength, Dirge can literally eat anything he can fit in his mouth. His stomach is enigmatic to say the least, for it can store infinite amounts of matter but never expand more than any normal human stomach. Once something is eaten, it doesn't come out, all useful matter is used for healing and such while whats left succumbs to whatever happens inside his stomach. Due to the fact that Dirge is, in fact, a corpse, he is in a constant state of rigor mortis, stiffening his joints to the point that he must hop to travel, making him slow and tire easily, his arms outstretched for balance and to snag any unfortunate passerby. Even with this physical limitation, Dirge is capable of incredible feats, such as jumping over an entire city in a single bound and land without harm, he is also extremely strong, able to lift something as heavy as a tank and throw it with ease though the extent of his strength is unknown even to him. Dirge is also practically unkillable by conventional means, his only weaknesses are fire, vinegar, axes, and anything made of peach tree wood. He is terrified of his own reflection, so mirrors work well. 

 

History: The details of Dirge's life are unknown, all records of his family were lost in a fire shortly after his death. Simply put, shortly after his death, he was reanimated by a Taoist priest with the instructions to hop home to be properly buried, but he got lost and fell into the Knothole. Now he wanders aimlessly in search of food and a purpose. Due to his rotten brain, he will often follow any order given to him with unending determination until the order is carried out.
