As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.
Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.
No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!
So basically the FAA has decided that if you make money using a remotely-controlled aircraft with a first person view camera, your plane is suddenly considered to be a potential threat.
So this is what we have come to? Have we allowed Osama Bin Laden to terrorize us to the point we are afraid of people who use RC planes to make money? You know, the planes involved in the 9/11 attack were hijacked airliners that were FAR heavier, faster, and carried MUCH more flammable fuel, and yet did we get rid of the airliners?
And what about the people who use this for utilities? Like arial photographers that use that for their income? Now they have to fork over a couple extra hundred thousand dollars just to buy their own helicoptor or go out of business. And what about people who use such devices for search and rescue? Or fighting fires? Or what about people who are sponsored to perform at R/C events? Or those people who make money by uploading the videos to youtube? What is to become of all of them? You know how Republicans keep complaining about "Regulations hurt the economy"? Well what do you call THIS?!
The worst part of this is how barely any regulation/legislation to govern the unmanned systems that HAVE killed thousands of civilians, and yet the legal burden falls on R/C hobbiests. Let the facepalming begin.
You know how Republicans keep complaining about "Regulations hurt the economy"? Well what do you call THIS?!
I call this finger-pointing that won't get anything done. This is not going to help you with your cause, Louis. It will only divide people, and thus weaken your support group to generate actually positive political change.
First let's address a blatant reality: you are aware who has the big majority in the senate right (53 Democrats, to 45 Republicans, to only a measly two Independents). These guys. Harry Reid? Nancy Palosi? John "Let-Hamas-Commit-Genocide" Kerry? And what about President Obama who had the power to veto this bill? I mean are they all hypocritical republicans? Ergun Cantor was one (he supported a lot of crappy regulations and even the Bailouts, which go against the very principles of minarchy)...but he just lost his job to a true Libertarian. And more of that old guard is starting to get replaced by Paul Ryans and Tom Marinos.
__________
You pointed the finger on mere republican partisanship and totally missed the mark, just like many want you to do, Louis. They don't want you to read the laws, just fit in a certain series of lines in the sand. These Senators want you to blame the Republicans/ Democrats/Jews/Videogames/ Evil Invisible Gnomes/ Jewish Evil Invisible Gnomes/ Global Warming to herd you and galvanize electorally and politically. When it's "Us against them" then they got you to stop questioning your group and star questioning what is "other than" the group, no matter how valid or human those people on the other side of the fence might be. Savy politicians and media pundits create oversimplified narratives that micro-target potential voters to keep them from looking behind the hood and seeing that the whole first-past the-post, gerrymandered, earmarked, corporativistic, system is bonk. I mean, remember who re-signed The Patriot Act and whose administration was involved in the NSA, IRS, and CIA's recent snooping on average people as of late? He wasn't a Republican... Something tells you don't want to face a big defect in your own worldview and just want to randomly blame a people group, and this won't help you overcome this problem This isn't going to help Louis. If you think this law is wrong - and I am with you there, dude - then you can't be finger pointing and going off the mouth but actually advocate for your position. If you are going to address the issue and seek a solution - then don't oversimplify and vent at people: be a responsible citizen do something about it.
To paraphrase one of the foul Republicans 'They work for you Louis...It's not the other way around.'
So let's think of what needs to be done to change this, and what you are going to do about it. Bud, if you make a petition I will be the first to sign it. If you have place to point out to us where there already is one - I will go an sign it. If you can tell me what bone heads supported this legislation (both with a D and an R in front of there name please) - I will then warn people not to vote for them again (Guys like Mitch Mcrackpot and Harry Greed alike). Give me something to work with here. What can we do to help your cause?
