Why is it that everyone thinks Knuckles and Relic are in love? There was never any hint of romance whatsoever in the issue she first appeared in. She's just an archeologist examining the Floating Island ruins for her research; nothing more.

It just goes to show that fans will try to ship anyone together, even if there isn't any romance.

But at the same time its just one issue she's in thus far, there isnt enough to say they are or not or the possibility.

I voted Unsure... Because I don't know if they'll actually fall in love. Depends on the fans of the Archie Comics, if they think they are the right couple or not... we'll see.

 

Also, I still miss Julie-Su And if she was alive in the comics... do you guys think she'd be too judgmental when Knuckles hanging around with Relic?

...really?  One interaction and suddenly there is enough proof there isn't a romance?  On the contrary.

 

Just these three Panels alone hint that she alone could have budding feelings, showing that she feels embarrassed about babbling in front of him, and seems to be bothered by his "A Little Crazy" comment.  While no concrete proof, they are enough evidence to say there could be previous history, though if it's a friendship, romance, or just acquaintance is still up to debate. 

 

The second page confirms their previous history, saying Knuckles, at least Knuckles deciding to let her stay on the island for her research begrudgingly.

On top of that, Knuckles at least trusts her enough with guarding the Master Emerald, something he rarely lets any of his closest friends do.  And doing so allows Relic (no seriously...an archaeologist named Relic....her career choices as a kid were so limited) the Pika to turn him into the bumbling fool, and stammer over his words.  Again no proof, but enough to say there could spark between.  

 

There is legitimately enough here to say there could be a romance, either future, past, or present.  

 

Is there?  No.  Why?  Knuckles is a SEGA character, and like Eggman, Sonic, and the rest of the SEGA cast, there can be know relationships with them.

I don't think she'd care if they were already acquainted with each other. I mean, Julie-Su showed disgust towards Rouge because she was openly flirting with Knuckles just to make her feel jealous. There really isn't anything implying romance between Knuckles and Relic, so why would she bother? Plus, there were an unknown number of female Mobians already living on Angel Island in the old continuity, and Knuckles didn't really give much thought about them.

I never took it as romantic feelings. I always thought she was just a shy girl, considering that's how most bookworms are depicted as being.

I'm not saying you have to.  I'm just saying that you are wrong about:

In this situation.  In many other situations it is 100% true.

I doubt it for a number of reasons the main one of course being Sega. Now that Sega's way more involved with the book then ever before I doubt that they would let Archie hook Knuckles up with an original non-Sega character again.

 

That being said I wouldn't mind if Ian hooked them up as long as it's well written. Again that most likely won't happen because of Sega.

 

Character wise I like Relic so far, and I think that she already has more of a personality then Julie-Su, and I say that as someone who liked Julie-Su.

Its Sega. Unless they approve ANY sort of romantic relationship (which is doubtful) I doubt it would happen.

That's fine... it's great that Relic is helping Knuckles... But, if Relic wants a love relationship with Knuckles, I wouldn't like her for that. Just saying.
