Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

OK, While im not sure if this has been braught up before, or at least in a similear matter, But I'm going to shoot the discussion anyway.

Right so as the topic states. I find it amazing that while SatAM only had 26 Episodes before having its door closed. That it contained so much visuals, and character, teeming with life or lack there of. To have we the fans keep it alive, not just for nostalgia reasons but also because the world was so vast and expansive that we can't let it be lost in oblivion and only be seen as a dusty VHS. Ithink what I'm trying to get at is, while we make our own asumptions on what ifs, or plot holes that we try to fillwith reasoning, or better yet creating a Mobius that while still keeping the SatAM vibe, making it even more unique or unsettleing. I mean sure yes the show was for kids, but it had a lot of hidden content that our young minds couldn't pick as easily until we got older. For instance "Blast From The Past part 2" we get to see Uncle Chuck roboticized right before young Sonic's eye's, and lets add a what if to that. lets say Future Sonic, or Juice as he so aptly named himself. Ran in as his uncle was being robticized, think of how he would react. I think it would be an emotional side that Sonic never showed. Lets also say that young Sonic sees his break down. He now has broke his cover as his future self. Thats just one example that keeps at least myself dedicated to keeping this gem alive. Even more so with what some of you members know as M.O.B.I.U.S. which I have very ambitious plans for.

Now I'll bring up, the fanfiction side of things. While yes its fan work and and not official. The fact that we can completly change how things happen or characters react. For me I like to put the charaters in situations that are not normal, within their character. By giving them free reign to choose how they see fit. In other words I play god but they have free will, even though its my own mind creating it, while giving the impression I have no control over their lives. The other thing I love about SatAM related fanfictions is having the feel and tone of the show, or adding to that, and yet still make us the reader feel as if it was natrual and intergrated into that world that Ben Hurst invisioned. And I guess the last thing I'd like to put is, while yes SatAM in the modern Sonic world is another cannon and should be forgotten, and just focus on what we have now. In actuality SatAM pathed everything out from the lore that Sega of America had built, something that is so full of content and creative character, and settings. That at least for me is the biggest lore for a game that was only thought as a ( Point A - Point B ) with no story, and weather or not the modern generation agrees, we are the true Fans of Sonic, as we have watched it grow into mass phenomanon, and then with one flick of hand. Slump down to where other non Sonic gamers just want it to end.

Wow that was quite a lot, and I hope deep for your reading. as it was for me typing it out.

Well I guess I'll see now what discussion might start or not start. As this is how I feel about my favorite childhood world.

Modern Sonic fans are by and large completely unaware of the existence of SatAM, and therein lies the problem.  I once read a letter in Sonic Grams that pissed me off to no end, mostly because a fan (admittedly a child of something around 7) had no idea whatsoever that the SatAM crew are actually licensed characters owned by SEGA as well as DiC, Archie, and ABC.  The whole thing upset me to such a degree that I ranted about it here something like three boards ago, that's how long it's been since I read Archie Sonic.

But either way.  The vast majority of Sonic's current fanbase only has the games as a source of knowledge about The Blue Blur.  While this isn't a bad thing per-se, I personally believe that as fans it is our responsibility to make others aware of the existence of SatAM and all other areas of Sonic fandom.  I've read at least one issue of every Sonic comic I could get my hands on.  I've seen at least SOMETHING of every Sonic cartoon and anime out there.  And I play as many of the games as I can get my hands on.  I love Sonic the Hedgehog, ever since I was five years old.  The color and speed of it all blew my mind back in 1991, and if you had told me I'd still be playing Sonic 23 years later on systems that make the Genesis their bitch I've thought you were crazy.  I don't think it's fair to judge other fans of Sonic as being less or more than myself.  I am what I am, simply, a fan of a long running video game series.  I guess my point is, that a lot of these other fans have a limited grasp of Sonic's lore and therefore have no idea there's soo much more out there for them to explore.  I show SatAM to anyone who claims to be a Sonic fan.  Some people love it, some people don't.  But the point is, I did my duty as a fan by showing others what it is I love about the series.  I love all things Sonic, but SatAM holds a special place in my heart and always will.  I still sit in my undies, same as I did when I was eight, and watch SatAM occasionally.  That trip down memory lane always makes me smile.  In short, as fans we owe it to ourselves to show others the things we love.  Whatever you know about Sonic's past, share it with those that don't.  You may be surprised by the results you get.  My nephew loved SatAM when I showed it to him.  The 90's are still very much alive, you just gotta know where to look.

I totally agree with you on that subject. I've seen many kids in this generation who get that excited over cartoons...except alot of them are garbage! They make NO sense, there's no plots or decent stories...just bullshit. But my daughter Aaliyah, however, hasn't fallen into that. She enjoys valuable entertainment, and that's because 4 years ago when she was 8 years old i decided to admit to her that i'm a Sonic fan and he used to have cartoons when i was a kid. So she was interested in SATam, so i went on Youtube and we both sat down and watched all the SATam episodes in one day. At the end, she said "Mom that show was so cool! I wish they had more episodes." Hahahaha and i told her not to waste her time on AOSTH, but she kinda liked Sonic Underground. She said only 2 songs were cool and the rest of the music sucked ass. Aaliyah's now 12 and going to be in 7th grade, and she still enjoys watching SATam once in a while.

Here's also another thing i'd like to share. Just a few months ago Aaliyah made a new friend at school and he's a Sonic fan. When she went home that day and told me i said "Wow, cool...did you tell him I'm one too?" And then she said "Yea...but he wouldn't know shit about the 90s cartoons cause i asked him about it." And i said "Aw, that's too bad. He's missing out". Hahaha kids these days are into sloppy crappy cartoons, with no backbone or story to it. Some these days follow to oldskool cartoon spirit though.

An very rare photo of the late singer Aaliyah next to a statue of Sonic...

Now that is "One In A Million!"

Honestly, I don't mind some kids' shows airing nowadays. Sure, they're stupid, but that's what they're intended to be like. Stupid stuff is what's popular now; especially on the internet.

And really, not all cartoons have to be "meaningful" or "thought-provoking". For some people, they just want mindless entertainment. I mean, after a long day of work at your job, which would you rather watch just to relax your tired self? Looney Tunes? Or a documentary on America's economy?

There really wasn't much for world building in this show. It just showed everything was barren uninhabited deserts, and a few ruins. Not much to work off of.
