Just because things are different, doesn't make them bad.
That said this is Bay....and while I liked his original Transformers...I can't stand the two sequels.
I'll probably go see this movie. I'll probably not like it. Oh well.

As long as they stay faithful...
Well from looking at the 90 second trailer alone:
.Hinted that Shredder and April O'Neil's father created the Turtles.
.Shedder is Caucasian instead of Asian.
.And finally, Michael Bay is involved.
Yeah, they'll stay faithful.
"The Devil Inside is the new scam from director William Something Something. The movie stars actors and was edited on a computer. Somewhere. This movie is the latest film in a series of very low budget films designed to look like real movies! And be released in theaters to make a quick buck via a horribly off kilter budget to profit ratio that the general public seem to be stupidly unaware of! These films use to be called 'direct to video' but now they are called 'first run features'. These films then vanish from the theaters, like a rapist leaving the scene of a crime." - Mike Stoklasa of RedLetterMedia

To be fair...Bey's been good with research and staying true to the spirit of the source material. (Note that the canisters say TGRI, which is a reference to the original live action TMNT movies.) So, I'm going to wait until the full movie's out before I pass judgement.
One good thing to note...that was DEFINITELY classic Mikey there with the goofball way he was acting. So, take that as you will.

Sorry, but any man who takes something which has a long history like the Turtles has, announces a new reboot and it's script leaked that says "Hey, you know how the Turtles were mutations? Fuck that, now they are aliens! And the title will just be Ninja Turtles because I'm Michael Bay and I crap rainbows" to the point where the backlash was so bad they had to go back and change it in rewrites doesn't tell me they are staying true to the spirit of the source material. Plus look at the trailer and posters. Yeah, the title might be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but funny how the "Teenage Mutant" part is so small, like they threw it in there to please fanboys but keep it small enough so as to pretend it's not actually part of the title.
And by source material, I get the feeling you don't mean the Mirage comics.
And as for that canister, if it's a nod to the second movie, then its a nod they couldn't even get right. Pretty sure in the second movie the canister had TGRI on it, but looking at this trailer, it's TCRI, aka the company name from the comics, the 2003 and 2012 cartoons and it's a company with heavy ties to the Utroms alien race, while TGRI had no ties to them. Now I'm not gonna use that as an excuse to say "ruined forever" because its a little bit to early to tell if this new movie is gonna go down the alien route like it's original screenplay had, or if TCRI will have links to the Utroms or not, but if not, then, but if TRCI has no Utroms tied to it, why not have it as TGRI then? Because if you are gonna make a nod to something, at least do it right or not at all. Jesus, it's just like when Michael Bay announced "Hey guess what? We're gonna have The Wreckers in the 3rd Transformers movie!" And what does the team comprise of? Two members (in name only) who are basic "Who the hell are these guys?" characters that only Marvel UK comic or IDW fans are gonna realise and another guy who leads them who isn't based off of any previous leader of the team. Should they use the actual Wreckers leader like Springer, or for ultimate fanwank, use Impactor? Naaaah, just name him Leadfoot.
Look, I'm not saying this is bad because the origins of the Turtles has been changed, nearly every incarnation has changed the origin story up compared to the original, but by having white guy Shedder and April O'Niel's dad being the ones who created the Turtles because the world "needed" heroes, then that's pretty far off from the original origins... Jesus, if they have it that April's dad ends up being Splinter, this movie can catch the boat to Fuck-Off Land. And why do I get the horrible feeling that at the end of the movie, it will have a cameo appearance by Casey Jones, played none other by Shia LaBeouf.

Aside from certain issues (they're way too big, and why does Mikey look like Shrek), it doesn't look bad. As long as they stay faithful...
At least they aren't aliens.
To be fair...there is no accuracy in source material in ANY of the Turtles Media.
The Original Cartoon wasn't even close to the comic.
The Movies were kinda a hybrid of the Original Cartoon and the comics that went its own way.
The 2003 Cartoon started off close but again went its own way (Though gets bonus points for the Usagi Crossover stuff).
And the Current Cartoon Is going its own direction and barely following the comics at all.
And nobody wants to talk about that live action series....ugh.
So what source material is Bay supposed to follow? Heck even the comics retconned themselves on multiple occasions.

1. Shredder did make the ooze, that maight not be it exactly.
2 and 3. Can't argue with that.

Shredder never made the ooze in the original comic, so that's not true to the source material.

Use the best parts of each. And dis-own the live action one.

"Hi, I'm Johnny Knoxville, welcome to me voicing Leonardo in the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie because Michael Bay is a Jackass!"

Oh and Tony Shalhoub will also voice Splinter.
AMERICAN Splinter!
TRUE TO SOURCE MATERIAL! 8D

I'll probably go see it. At least the whole concept of the Turtles being aliens was dropped. That being said, why on Earth is Shredder white? I'm expecting it to be either simply okay or mediocre.
