@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

Either you're with us or you're with Penders!   xDEdits to The Red Stranger's speech done by the Satam Board of Reeducation and Truthful Propganda.

Okay....now you're just being silly.

Regardless of the truth to Penders's claim what good does it actually do him?  Nothing.  There's no Season 3 thus the possibility he could of written an episode is the only glory he can get here.  It's an attempt to save face and convince fans that while Archie Comics is "ruining" SatAM, he was qualified to continue it so we should all jump on board his comic.

However even if Penders was to write an episode, what good is it now?  And even then nobody said the episode would have been any good so once again all he's done is gained some self-inflicted glory and our attention for another few megabytes.

Thanks for explaining the funny out of my satire, Red. :/

I dinnae explain anything away.  I stated the facts as I saw them.

I don't think you understood my post...or are just being disagreable for disagrements sake.

But honestly we should take what he says with a grain of salt, and a calm, quick, and consise rebuttal. I worry people freaking out over every little comment Pender's make is not good for out blood pressure and only gives him more power over us...that's why I made that political refrence (George Bush - Patriot Act - Terrorism - Overreaction...anything ringing a bell?) that I think you missed.

Would it be over the top if Ken Penders was skinned alive and then thrown into a salt mine

Yes...

Some say that he knows 2 facts about ducks, and both of them are wrong. And that 61 years ago he accidentally introduced Her Majesty The Queen to a Greek racialist. All we know is, I'm going to the tower now to have my head cut off, and he is called The Stig.

Of course we would have. Don't you know that Julie-Su is an original character that Ken invented before ever working on Sonic?

Ken had his chance at writing Sonic. We got soul touch bullshit, echidna racism, microwaved babies, and mid life crisis stories.

Not to mention major emphasis of the Echidna characters...

And to be honest the Echinda in the story were not all that unique or otherworldy even though they bloody lived on floating isianlds and were mystical... :/  Some of the scenes were boringly domestic. You kind of expect the Echinda to be an ancient an alien people isolated for many years like the real world Japanese or spread out across the world like the Hebrews. There ways would be different, their traditional thinking different and that could create some cool setting, lore, and societal and personal conflicts in the plot. The thing is that species and cultures were all boringly similar...I mean you have the whole Animal Kingdom to work off from here, Ken, with all their unique mannerisms and ways of life that you could breath a sentience, a drama and humanity in...and we get...[fill in the blank as you so choose].

Y'know, I used to like Ken.  However, with the end result of "the Pendering", I have to say that I loathe what he has become.  With one fell swoop, characters that people came to love...like Elias, Geoffrey St. John, and so forth are all gone because he wanted more money.  The man felt he should be paid for work he was already paid for...again.  I think he forgets that the characters he made were based off characters created by another company.  The whole mythology around the echidnas were based off concepts created by Sega creators...chaos emeralds, guardian of the floating island, lost people, and such...his run was interesting but ultimately not as engaging as what Ben Hurst and co accomplished with SatAM.  They, as the NC put it, "took something from nothing and created something wonderful".

He could never truly call the echidnas his because they were Sega's to begin with.  Yet, he's making all this concentrated effort to make all his characters from the book "different and unique" when (from what I've seen) all they are is but a shadow of their former selves.  Sorry, but I'll take the original version of Lara-Su please...heck, I like Ian's Jani-Ca version better.  She pawned evil Knuckles.xD  Plus, she and Silver go great together.  Poor Silver getting into these time travel situations.

About the whole unemployment thing...I can feel for the man.  Living in California is not cheap but that's why there are jobs.  I know he doesn't want to work for anyone ever again, but sometimes that's what you have to do.  I was unemployed for a year and took no unemployment.  I worked temp jobs, did work for my Dad, whatever I had to get by.

I've been out of touch with the fandom for a while now and am just now getting back into things. So at risk of having an unpopular opinion, I'm willing to give Ken the benefit of a doubt here. Suppose there had been a 3rd season, and suppose he had written an episode. As divisive and reviled as the infamous Sally Dies! arc starting with issue 47 was, I recall reading it and thinking it was rather decent. Not super duper awesome and great, but decently good. The same goes for a few of the issues following.

So I don't think that Ken is incompetent as a writer. He's had some ideas that have had potential, and under Ben Hurst and Len Janson, we just might have gotten some good episodes out of him.

According to Ken he wrote an outline for an episode called "I, Robotnik!"

When the book was initially produced, Mike Gallagher and Scott Shaw! were basically given a directive to create a book based on both animated series being produced by DiC, as well as the first two SONIC games. This format was pretty much adhered to until Mike Kanterovich and I came along as it had proven to be a popular one when Mike and Dave Manak worked on the ALF series for Marvel.

Our initial stories were likewise produced with this format in mind as we were directed to, but once we sold the first several stories, two things happened: 1) I sat down and watched the SatAM episodes I had recorded on videotape for my son, and 2) Editor Scott Fulop took control of the book.

I became enamored of the storylines in the series but was told we couldn't tie-in directly to the stories in the series as DiC - just like SEGA - refused to cooperate with us in allowing us access to their material for the purpose of tying together the continuity of the book with the show, something I was very much interested in, as was Scott. It was only during the time when it was uncertain whether or not ABC would even renew the series for a third season that DiC provided us with scripts and other materials, probably out of hope that maybe the book would help attract more viewers if it were tied in more closely with the show. Mike and I were even invited to submit outlines with the idea we would be contributing to the third season as scriptwriters. (I still have the outline for the story we submitted called "I, Robotnik!")

Outright lying isn't Ken's style. His lies are more of the delusional type.
