[FUS News Robot]

Today, the latest series of Sonic has been revealed by SEGA of America today. New designs also expected to possibly follow up into the games.

To me, I'm unsure of this... but it still looks good

I like it. Although, the in-game models look a bit off to me... but at least it's a work in progress!

I'm mixed on the character redesigns, but I'm loving the background art and atmosphere. Kinda reminds me of "Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts".

Already, a huge improvement compared to the Mario-wannabe graphics of "Lost World".

Thoughts on the characters:
* Sonic: Lose the blue arms. Otherwise OK. Proportions seem a bit weird.
* Tails: I like this. My only concern is he looks a bit like a generic anime gadget genius kid. But at least he has an excuse for wearing goggles, being a pilot and all.
* Knuckles: No. Knuckles is not a big dumb brute, nor a big friendly giant.
* Amy: I like this design as well. I have to wonder what she's annoyed about, though. Is she gonna look like that all the time?

And yeah, what's with all the bandages?

(I had to rewrite this post several times because I kept scrolling up to the top and clicking the image to zoom in, somehow forgetting every time that it eats my post. Blegh.)

Do you guys think this will hurt the Sonic Archie Comics? Including hurting the return of the SatAM characters ???

I couldn't believe how negative the reaction is to both the show and the game; it seems like the SatAM/Archie fanbase is far more accepting than any of the others I have found. It was surprising to say the least; I thought the game fans would be head over heels for this and are usually accepting of whatever SoJ puts out. I guess you can never underestimate the fickle, vitriolic nature such a fractured bunch of fans as Sonic fans.

One of the major reasons the Sonic fanbase as a whole is so infamous is because of the reputation for nonstop complaining and seeming ability to never be satisfied. Mind you, I feel the reason behind this lies more with the degree the fanbase is segmented into various camps (Classic/Adventure/Modern game fans, Archie fans, SatAM fans, etc.)  than any collective mentality shared by most fans. I'm actually surprised at how well most people seem to be taking it.

They'll probably do a spin-off series like with Sonic X.

My only problems are with Sonic's and Knuckles' designs, more Knuckles than Sonic. Tails and Amy's designs are actually appealing and I get a good sense of personal attitude from them. Sonic's head seems a little weird and again the blue arms are throwing me off, plus the lanky legs. Knuckles though. He looks like a triangle and is way too tall and has human arms. Will take some time getting used to.

 

Actually am liking Eggman's new design from the show's trailer.http://www.youtube.c...h?v=3dm-AFKUmFw Has that classic fell from the genesis days. And the trailer did make me chuckle once...meaning there may be hope. We will have to find out and see, but I'm still keeping a beer nearby if the show winds up bad.

i am about to do an entry on IGN stating my analysis on this game and the unnecessary flak this is geting

I saw some of the gameplay footage.  When the drek did Amy acquire ninja-esque reflexes?  (There's a scene where the group falls, and she's the only one to do a flip and land on her feet.)

 

I just pray to the Seven that they stopped making her a Sonic-obsessed fangirl.

I think they'll take a step from Lost World and not make her AS obssesed.

If you take away Amy's obsession with Sonic you destroy the character.  Just like we believe you can't change certain aspects that make Sally who we know and love, you can't do it for Amy...though Love isn't a word I would use for her.

 

What they have to do is tone her down so that she has some other goals/personality/character other than Obsessing over Sonic.

I know the SatAM / Archie characters won't appear in that show. But, what happens if (I'm saying if) the writers or the producers decide to bring the charcters from the Archie Comics (The new design ones) for the TV series? I'd say until the second season (If there is one) if they want to make the new episodes be based mostly on the Archie Comics... how would you feel about that?

Perhaps that was a reason for the redesign in the first place

I am pretty sure the redesigns came from the fact that the old designs were very dated.  Save Bunnie most of the main cast didn't have any redesigns and with more SEGA influences invading the comics, the old designs didn't seem to fit in as well.  Now I could argue more about that but that's off topic.

 

I really don't think any of the SatAM/Archie cast will appear in another media, HOWEVER that being said I would love to see them prove me wrong.
