If anyone's missed my postings about it, here's a topic on the subject. CMT has brought back The Dukes Of Hazzard. The reason: The show is now airing in HD, for any Dukes fans with HD TVs. I don't have an HD TV, but I'm just jazzed that the show is back. It was a big part of my childhood, and I've always enjoyed when it was on reruns on the local channels, then what used to be TNN, and then for a while on CMT. I have the boxed sets of the seasons on DVD. And I'm one of the Dukes fans who found the movie to be a slap in the face. So, for me, it's just plain awesome that the show's back on the air regularly. They're playing it at 11 am weeknights, and 7pm weekends (central US times).
I encourage the younger generation (I'm looking at you, VHS) to check it out and learn a thing or 2 about what real high-ratings show were like back when most viewers only had 2 or 3 TV stations to watch. Modern shows have so much competition that "high ratings" is a mere fraction of what shows like the Dukes had at the time the show was canceled for "low ratings".
My only complaint is that they've edited out some of the Waylonisms that took place at the beginning and end of commercial breaks, because of having to edit for modern commercial break timeslots. But, they've kept what they could get to land at a proper commercial break slot, so there's usually at least one intact Waylonism and freeze-frame at commercial break (and corrosponding Waylonism and de-freez-frame after that commercial break) per episode. The in-episode Waylonisms are still in there, though. So the roll of Balladeer still has some bearing on the show.
