@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

What games do you think were the top 10 for 2013, bare in mind that the placement on the list isn't how I rate each game but how I feel about them right now.

10)Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate

Being a monster hunter fan living outside japan, I have to take what little releases come out in the west and they really hit the series out of the park with this one.

9)Bioshock: Infinite

This one should be on everyone's 10 ten, it really started 2013 with a bang.

8)Papers Please

An under the radar indie title that set itself from the rest

7)Final Fantasy XIV: A realm reborn

In 2010 I bought a desktop just to play ffxiv and boy talk about epic fail. But rather than let it sink SE rebuild it and now we have a true spritial sequal to FFXI.

6)Pokemon X/Y

It's pokemon, nothing else to say

5)Grand Theft Auto 5

While I think Saint's row 4 is better for those that want a sandbox to go crazy in, it's a huge step up from GTA4

4)The legend of Zelda: A link between two worlds

A new entire in the series that returns to the overhead 2d style that also takes the series norms into a new direction to create the best puzzles in the series

3)Super Mario 3D world

Seriously if you own a Wii u, BUY THIS GAME!

2)Dead Rising 3

If you need a reason to pay $500 for an Xbox one now, this is your reason. This is hands down the best game in the series that I have played. Many of the annoyances from the previous 2 games are gone and the game is no more steamlined. You now have more than enough time in the campaign to finish the story mode and do alot of side missions and PP grinding.

1)Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag

If there is one game I played more of on my ps4, it's AC4. I thought ubisoft was now going to milk this series dry after they announced this game but I was proved wrong.

Unfortunately, most of my 3DS and Wii U games are from 2012 and past. So I'll do just top 5 for now.

5. Animal Crossing: New Leaf
4. Fire Emblem: Awakening
3. Super Mario 3D World
2. Pokemon X and Y
1. Sonic Lost World (Wii U): Yes, I fully enjoyed it.

1) GTA V

2) Black FLag

3) Last of Us

4) BioShock Infinite

5) Pokemon X/Y

6) NHL 14

7) Ni No Kuni

8) FF XIV

9) SMB 3DW

10) Sid Meyer's Civilization V: Brave New World

Some say that he knows 2 facts about ducks, and both of them are wrong. And that 61 years ago he accidentally introduced Her Majesty The Queen to a Greek racialist. All we know is, I'm going to the tower now to have my head cut off, and he is called The Stig.

I'm like VHS; I play a lot of older games, so I don't think I can actually list 10 released this year that I have played. In no order:

1. The Last of Us

2. Sally Acorn in Sonic 2 (Thanks again E122psi)

3. Bioshock: Infinite

4. GTA V

5. Ni No Kuni: The Curse of the White Witch

6. Lego Marvel Super Heroes

7. Killzone: Shadowfall

8. Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag

If I can think of any more I'll edit them in.

1. Bleed: Easily one of my favorite games of all time; I'll still be gushing about it decades from now. (XBLA version was released in 2012)
2. Spelunky: Hyperaddictive. (XBLA version was released in 2012)
3. Tomb Raider: Pretty solid, but it works better if you forget that this character has any connection to the badass archaeologist we all know. Story's a bit stupid and hokey, but hey, I don't play games for the story.
3. Surgeon Simulator 2013 (tie with Tomb Raider): Great value for the money, at least.
5. Payday 2: I haven't felt any urge to play it lately, but I sure put in a lot of hours for a good while there.

My list has to stop there because all the other games I've played that were released in 2013 don't belong in the same list as these. Which isn't to say they're bad, but they don't feel like anything special. Very unfortunate that one of those is Total War: Rome II, which I waited a whole year for, but oh well.

  5. Fire Emblem Awakening
  6. Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon
  7. Pokemon X
  8. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
  9. StarCraft II Heart of the Swarm
  10. New Super Mario Bros U/Luigi U

I haven't bought many games this year, but two I particularly enjoyed were Metal Gear Rising Revengeance and Batman Arkham Origins.

Not a Metal Gear guy, and I think Arkham City looks better.

I'm more interested in the Metal Gear Solid series.

I almost got a PS1, but because of the memory card, I couldn't afford both of the games I wanted for it. (Darkstalkers and Crash 3)

Twin Snakes is a remake of the original Solid.

Just be warned about older games, just because they were good at one point and time, doesn't mean they've survived the test of time.

Oh. Now that you mention it, 3 was ported to 3DS too.

Thanks for the warning.

MGS1 has a PC version, but I don't know whether it runs on modern versions of Windows. I believe you can get it to run on 32-bit WinXP, though. Seems to me both the PC and PS1 versions have advantages and disadvantages over one another.

I haven't played The Twin Snakes myself, but from what I heard it's an awful and unnecessary remake.

You must have heard wrong because virtually everyone gives this game good ratings.

The only downside is that it does include some elements from MGS2 that weren't in the original that do make some parts of the game easier.  However if you're like me and the first version you played was Twin Snakes, the nostalgia block isn't a problem.

MGS1 is good, but graphically it's very inferior.

I'm referring to stuff like the voice acting being worse (why do characters lose their accents?), the cinematic scenes being way out of control, etc.

This scene was pretty ridiculous even in the original, but now it's apparently in slow motion to highlight just how ridiculous it is. And at least Snake reacted in the original version of the scene (though Meryl still just stared at the dot like an idiot).

Yeah that's some of the MGS2 infection.  The problem with the voices is that they had to re-record the entire game due to the fact the original had the sound of the Elevated Train going through the background when brought onto a higher sound quality.  Some of the voices were a bit rushed.  Also somethings were moved/edited for the GameCube's hardware.

Was the remake Unnecessary?  Probably.  It didn't bring anything new to the table really, however it's not a bad remake.  Think of it less as a remake and more of a port.
