@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

So was I missed?

I can only assume that without my long ranting posts, that no one becides me every really read, that this place got a little, dare I say it, normal

Anyway a few of you guys and girls might remember me, I've already said a few hello's in the chat section, as for the majority of you who don't know me, well lets just say you're lucky.

By that I don't mean that you were spared the ordeal of dealing with me, or that you can look foward to the utter joy of meeting me for the first time. In fact it's somewhere in the middle.

3-years is a long time, I feel I've mellowed quite a bit, you see I used to be, how do I put this? Oh that right, completlly full of myself! Part of the reason I used to write such damned long posts was that I simply loved spreading myself and my opinions all over the place.

But that was then, looking back I'm almost amazed at how I was, but then again while I'm sure a few people used to roll their eyes when I got onto my soap box and started spouting my commie views, I do know that I was liked and respected.

The reason for that was, I think, is that even though not everyone agreed with me on many things, they could see that I was a guy with both passion and admrible princibles, not a two faced hipcrite that was just all talk.

Also, perhaps more importently, if I ever did have one constant goal in life is was and still is to be a 'nice guy,' it was never an act for me buy something that I could not help being and I think that shined through.

So, anyway now I'm back I'll continue to try to be that nice guy and see if I can't contribute to the SatAM fandom in some way, as always I have lots of ideas for the future, I just hope I'll get around to them this time around before I dissapear again for 3-years!

But don't worry, I plan on staying for quite a while.
(ps, now you know it's me with my signature ending EVERY post with the sunglass smilie)

Hello, dickhead. :] Good to see some old mates around here. All we need now is Nightweaver back here for you.

Does this mean I'm gonna have to read novel-length emails from you again, and then spend weeks and weeks replying to you? 'Cause... I'd be cool with that.

First you have to write me a really long review of the HalloweeN remake, like that great one you did for HallloweeN 6 and email it to me, then I'll be up for emailing you.

Now that would be something...

Of course I would need to go back and completely re-work all the stuff I wrote about Lower Mobius that, frankly, looking back on I can't feel anything but embarrassment about.

At the time I think I lost all sense of objectivity and was overly influenced by the stuff I was interesting in and exploring at the time, the issues of conceptions of mental illness and it's relationship to social changes. I was not only reading books but also watching movies like 'One Flew over the Cuckcoo's Nest,' 'Girl Interrupted' etc and again looking back it shows painfully.

So not only was I a blatant plagiarist but now that I am more objective I don't think these issues are 'appropriate' for a SatAM prologue, by that I don't mean so much that the issues themselves are offencive (although I fully accept that since I handled then in such an amateurish and blunt way that they almost were) it's rather that they just don't 'fit' with my or indeed anyone else's concept of SatAM.

Hence if ever the possibility did present itself to finish more MTTS I would go back and erase the whole concept and develop a more standard one simply involving the issues General Machintire authoritarian regime in Lower Mobius, thus the 'patients' would be replayed with 'saboteurs' and 'Robotnik sympathisers.' While this is more mundane it is more in keeping with SatAM and it would not be completely with concepts to explore as I look at the conflicts between 'freedom' vs 'security' that this brings into question, casting the Gereral and the small number of military elite in a somewhat morally blurred position.

One thing I am very annoyed about with MTTS is, unknown to you guys I had actually written a MASSIVE post ofline that I kid you now was just around 20-pages long, in word using size 12 font! Unfortunately with my old computer dying the text was lost, I continued my back story stuff, detailing the coup in extreme detail, including General Mackintire re-groping the scatted Royal Guard into a disciplined fighting force and making a bold attempt to recapture the city, featuring street battles and and stuff.

However before you think I was just 'indulging' in back story with no real interest in the ongoing RPG you'd be wrong. After this post my intention was for the military to cone into contact with Sprocket, who at that time was desperately hiding out in the city and trying to reach Snively. So not only would I have involved her with my back story, I planned to email her details, but not would it include the events leading up to Sprockets robtisitation, filling in the gaps with Sprocket, but it would ahve set up a connection between him and the General, which Sprocket forms very unflattering opinions about, setting up their future confrontation in Lower Mobius!

So yeah, I know it probably won't happen and if it did not soon but I would be up for finishing it, like totally.

Elaine left after the community got too belligerent for her to handle, she's told me this on DA a while ago. Something to do with Elaine's religious predisposition clashing with MistressAli's anti-religious views and how FUS is intolerant towards opinions differing from the prevalent.

Considering that, after a while, I got sick of her constant complaining about how life is pain and how it's all oh so hard, I take her word with a grain of salt.

So Elaine really had a falling out with you Ali? Oh, that's really sad! Especially since I remember her being into you in a big way, like me I think she was a little awestruck by the depth and beauty of your passion and and art for Snively.

Still the religious thing, I can't say I'm completely surprised as some people know I'm a hard-line atheist myself and when I became aware of Elaine's views I deliberately avoided the subject altogether and thfullly it never came up in conversation with her.

Even so I find it a little prejudiced of her that she simply 'could not handle' Ali's views, I mean I'm sure Ali would not have started bulling her or trying to force her atheist views on her, so what happened? Did she just she just start to get repulsed by Ali, start to believe that Ali was in league with the devil?!

As for FUS being 'intolerant towards opinions differing from the prevalent' well, I can't really say I've ever noticed that although grated I was gone a long time. For me one of the most interesting things about FUS is the wide variety of different people we have here, we've got hard core Sonic gamers, drawers, writers, amine fans, role players, cocky arseholes, gentile lambs, introverted thinkers, noisy excitable, really funny people you name it.

Sure FUS always had problems, in the past there was a lot more bitching and such things but intolerant? Hell know, when there was a really big science vs religious debate that took place a few years back, with Tristan leading the charge of the science side with his shocking intellect and knowledge the debate certainly got very intense and I won't deny that a few people like Reese got a little upset, it was none the less a magnificent example of tolerance and respect showed by everyone.

Like I said though, things might have changed while I was away but if this place at the moment is anything to go by then I can't say I agree with her, as far as the general mood at this place goes it perhaps the healthiest I've seen it.

+sigh+ I guess this means then that there is never any possibility of finishing off MTTS, shame, really bloody shame, does anything have her email though? I wouldn't mind sending her a friendly message and enquiring about her, she did give me her email address ages ago although it's long lost and she might not even still be using it if hadn't.

Elaine really said things like that? Wow I really was gone a long time! I know she had a lot of medical problems but back when I knew her she was an example of sunny optimism and putting on a smile in the face of adversity, the very qualities I liked about her. If she changed then I guess that's just the way it, although it does make me more interested in contacting her to see for myself.

My own memories are that Lady Ealaine left because she was simply becoming too busy with other aspects of her life (school, work, health, etc.) to spend much time here, and that she departed under good (or at least decent) terms with everyone. Having rechecked her last posts back on the old board, it would appear that my memory is actually spot on for once.

In any case, Sir Dom, if you want to get in touch with her, she's still very active over at her DeviantArt account. I'm sure she'd love it if you dropped her a note there.
Cheers!
