@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

For the Record:

I don't like Beavis and Butthead, Ren and Stimpy, Wayne's World, Rocko's Modern Life, or The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat. All those shows came off either two silly or just flat out dumb for me.

I haven't really liked AoStH since I was a little kid. Part of that I blame on SatAM and Underground being much better, but mostly I think I just outgrew that stage.

Based on these facts, I'm not surprised I don't like Adventure Time. It doesn't feel like an adventure or even a kid's adventure/dream/game. It feel like it's a collection of jokes that were left over from Spongebob (A show that I don't like either) because the Underwater setting didn't work and a Fantasy (Child's Fantasy?) works better.

Guess it's just my love of cartoons in general. It depends on one's personal tastes, but I like indulging myself into fun surrealism whenever I'm feeling bored. It's something we all could use once and a while.

Again, people have different tastes depending on the cartoon they watch. Some folks like realistically animated Disney/Ghibli cartoons, while others prefer the more cartoonier "Looney Tunes" or Tex Avery shorts. Some like the beautiful animation of Pixar or Dreamworks, while others prefer the sillier animation of Sony Pictures' films like "Cloudy with a Chance of Meat Balls" or "Hotel Transylvania".

EDIT: Also, did you mean to put "Wayne's World" in your collection of cartoons you dislike? Last time I checked, "Wayne's World" was live-action (unless you were referring to the humor).

Stephen Universe sucks. It's hard for me to think of this show as anything but "retarded".

Regular Show is a lot more hit-or-miss... I can stomach about half of the episode. The others are just too dumb.

I like Adventure Time. Sure, it's no MEGAS XLR, but it's a perty good show once you've seen enough of it to know what's going on. Its main drawback is that it really is one of those shows where you need to have been keeping up with it from the beginning.

And that brings us to the nostalgia part... I think Cartoon Network peaked with MEGAS XLR. Now that was a badass show. A redneck/geek who rebuilt a giant robot and uses it to kick ass on an epic scale... The Thanksgiving episode even has him fighting a giant parody of Sonic.

Megas XLR is in my top three cartoons, edged out only by Looney Tunes and SatAM.

Batman: The Animated Series is a good show, but I don't see why it's praised the way it is. The only aspects that feel worthy of the hype are the performances by Conroy and Hamill. My favorite animated take on the superhero genre by far is Teen Titans.

Top 3 from least to best are Space Ghost, Invader Zim and Ed, Edd n Eddy.

BTAS didn't insult its child audience with saccarine nonsense and dealt with issues that could edify them (unlike crap shows nowadays). Beware the Gray Ghost said a lot. Watch it. Batman deals with real problems truthfully and doesn't lie to kids, while still staying fun and uplifting at the end of the episodes.

Why is it your fave? Does it do the same?

Never really liked Loony Toons. Too old fashioned and outdated.

Don't really care for BTAS. It's just overrated. It was popular because it was darker and edgier than anything else on the WB.

I don't like most superhero shows. But Justice League Unlimited was rather good.

Another good show that needs more love is Road Rovers. That was a fun show.

-Unique balance of drama and comedy. More than any other show I've ever seen, it delved into the extreme ends of both sides of the tonal spectrum. It's an unusual approach, but it worked remarkably well. Everything was character driven, so the comedy helped make the cast more endearing, in turn making the drama more compelling due to greater audience investment.

-Terrifying main villain that rivals SatAM Robotnik in memorability.

-Well-balanced main cast of five characters, all of whom were likable and used more or less equally. All but one member received a seasonal arc in which they took center stage.

-Terra. Terra, Terra, Terra. She's only in six episodes, receiving the central arc of the second season instead of one of the main cast, but in that short amount of time she receives a character arc so brilliant and moving that it puts her as my second favorite character of all time, after only Sally. The show was mostly great normally, but in her episodes the quality of everything improved exponentially, with a great deal of subtlety and symbolism coming into play. I really can't say enough good things about this character.

Have you read the comics from which they are based?

No, but from what I've seen they bear little resemblance to the show. Comic Terra, for example, is a completely one-dimensional character that's nothing like her animated counterpart.

For the record, I've never read any Marvel or DC comics.

Not to mention in the comic...she was litterally seduced. To be evil. Oh, and she died (but came back as a superzombie in blackest knight, which was an intresting story as a whole).

You should read some. There are some great one's out there. Most right now suck though...too much pandering to "relevant issues". They made my childhood rolemodel a cardboard 2-D homosexual. :'(

Ever? I don't really have a single favorite one. My ranked list of favorite characters only features the top five, none of which are villains.

What I generally do is classify villains based on whether they're serious or comedic.

Some top comedic villains:

-Doctor Drakken and Shego (Kim Possible)

-The Looney Tunes Villains

-AOSTH Robotnik

-Kronk (The Emperor's New Groove)

-Sgt. Schultz and Col. Klink (Hogan's Heroes)

-Dick Dastardly and Muttley (Wacky Races)

-Aku (Samurai Jack)

-The REGIS Mark V (Which Will Destroy All) (Megas XLR)

-Senator Armstrong (Metal Gear Rising)

-O'Malley (Red vs. Blue)

-The Evil Emperor Zurg (Buzz Lightyear of Star Command)

-Newman (Seinfeld)

-Blind Pierre (Muppet Treasure Island)

Some top serious villains:

-Darth Vader

-Thrawn

-Palpatine

-Kreia

-Nom Anor

-Society/Big Brother (1984)

-SatAM Robotnik

-Snively

-Deathstroke/Slade (Animated version)

-Morgoth (Middle-earth)

-Gollum (Middle-earth)

-Long John Silver (Treasure Planet)

-The Joker (BTAS version)

-Scar (The Lion King)

-Monastario (Zorro)

I like your top three serious ones.

You should look into Deathstroke in other media as well. Deathstroke in Arrow is real intresting.

Is it concieted that I like my own villans a lot? I get way too much fun out of writing villans.

The list wasn't in order, and I kept making edits for several minutes. My top three serious villains would probably have to come down to Vader, SatAM Robotnik, and Big Brother/The Society of 1984. Funny how Robotnik is essentially a combination of the other two.

I love the scene where Robotnik is told that he could kill Sonic by pressing the guns of his cloaked, yet damaged ship, at the price of his and Snivly's life...and does it. It shows how much he hates Sonic, and how he has gone down the road of being more and more irrational as a villan come Doomsday. Despite his genius, his obsession with besting Sonic cuases a tactical tunnel vision that ends up being lethal.
