Today was visitation and well, this may sound morbid but I shook his hand for the last time.
Here is why, in the last few months of his life he always had a smile on his face when he saw me arrive. So before I left I usually tried to shake his hand so I just gently grabbed a few of his fingers.
And today I did it again for the last time.
He felt all rubbery and stiff. I don't know if it was from being preserved or the decay. At least he wasn't stone cold, well, what's left of him.
I send my condolences and prayers to you, your family and friends.
May he have a great and peaceful afterlife in God's kingdom.
On a personal note,
I know how you feel about losing grandparents. All my grandparents are gone, last one passed in 2008 and he was my mom's dad. And he was a wealthy man so he left me a nice little inheritance that helped with bills during that time. But beside that,
he was a good grandparent, along with the others... except one of them
which i won't go there haha.
I know your grandfather is enjoying his eternal life, and i'm sure he's watching over you and his loved ones in spirit.
It's time to rejoice for your Grandpa, as my mom would say: "He graduated!"
"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:" 1st Thessalonians 4:16
AMEN!!!
