That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

I went to the comic book yesterday.. I've been checking out this new issue of the Sonic Archie Comic of # 254... and yea we know the changes what Flynn did... when I turn the next pages... I've saw this new character. Actually, I just find out that this new Mobius character is... :weird:

Oh, well. I don't think is too much of a big deal after all xD  That's why I don't buy them no more. Ian Flynn and the Archie Comics can do what they want... for the changes.

Hmm... It's not that bothersome to me. I always thought it was rather odd that they had a was a feral quadruped dog as a pet. It sort of reminded me of that conversation in Stand by Me in which the kids are discussing how weird it is that both Goofy and Pluto are dogs, yet totally different. (TV Tropes addresses it, here)

 

While it may be a somewhat strange shift, I think it makes much more sense.

I'm surprised some people actually care. I mean, Muttski never left that much of an impression and wasn't that memorable of a character since his introduction. Heck, he was dropped from SatAM altogether after the pilot episode. And in the comics, he only served as a background character for longtime readers.

Who knows? Having him as a Mobian might make him a bit more interesting, depending on what Ian has planned for him.

Until Mutt actually does anything I can't say if I like the new direction, however I'm kinda with Shadow on this that if feels awkward for them to have pets.

Though i found it kinda surprising myself (considering i've been a Sonic fan for almost 21 years), having Muttski as a civilized Mobian rather than a pet might be better for him. Like Logiteeka said, this could make him more interesting.

Personally...I think this change is twisted in the most awesome way possible.  I may even use this in my own fanfiction reboot.

I honestly did not expect this. To me, this is a good change. With this change, Muttski becomes more of a character. To be honest, a blue anthro Hedgehog having a dog was awkward to begin with.

He didn't really have much importance in his prior role, so who knows, maybe this change is for the better. I think he looks kind of cute. :P

 

This isn't too crazy, when we consider originally Muttski could talk to Sonic due to the fact Sonic had that implant in his ear that could translate any language. They never really expanded on that, probably for the best.

 

It is really weird to have a dog, anyway. The Tasmanian Devils exist as ferals because the echidnas devolved them, so what would feral Muttski's backstory have been?

Oh dear lord, Sonic's pet Dog can talk now!

 

 

 

It's like it's a different reality or something!

 

Really, of all the changes this arc has thrown at us, turning Sonic's Dog, who I'm sure has offered an untold amount of depth to the series prior that no one could ever forget, is now just like the others isn't going to make me lose that much sleep.

I'm wondering what the ancients thought about this when they made half-man half-animal deities? I mean did Anubis have a pet jackal or did Horus have a pet bird?

In EoT normal animals exsist like Muttski (who makes a triumphant return), but ithe rest are more Avataresque. If fits well because look at the strange messanger bug-bird in Season two (called a Dracokeet in EoT). Animals and Mobians are the for most part different. For Mobians have a highly atypical genome that would bend a lot rules we would try to apply to them. That also means I am stuck with a lot of inventive creature creating.

I dont like this, granted i like how this is supposed to honor Ben Hurst in a way... jst dont recycle a character

My biggest issue is the hideous design. Beyond that, having Muttski in this role accomplishes nothing but generate buzz, which was likely the intention (as if there wasn't enough controversy surrounding the book already). It could just as easily have been a new character. Better yet, drop the role entirely and focus on...oh, I don't know...developing the core cast. Flynn's characterization is wanting enough already without pointless things like this being tacked on and drawing focus. If I don't find the main character interesting, why on Earth/Mobius/Whatever should I care about his dog?

 

For the record, there's already cases of non-sentient animals existing alongside the anthropomorphic ones in both SatAM and the games. We see that the Freedom Fighters eat fish, while Big the Cat has Froggy. While it's likely for the best that Muttski was dropped from SatAM, I don't find the idea of him having a pet inherently weird.

Ultimately is still comes down to if Mutt becomes an interesting character or not.  Considering the sizable cast that has been removed I'm not surprised that they're trying to replace it with new ones, but if the character is uninteresting you doing things for the wrong reasons.
