I'm not sure I understand all of this "card" business. Could you explain that a bit further?
You gave me a bio. I make a deck of Traits, Powers, Objects like the one below out off the info you gave me. Here is an example of a card:
1. [ King of Contortion (Ro'Den Race Trait/ Lvl 4) ]: Your small-built Ro'den physiology is a blessing in disguise. WIth uncanny flexibility you can pop in and out of incredibly cramped spaces, joints disjoin for those only to pop easily and painlessly back in place. As a side benefit that means joint-locks and grapples from bigger opponents are all but completely fool hardy, giving you the advantage up close when comes to agile attacks. You have no fear of cramped spaces; in fact you feel quite calm with in confines of a tight space and don't mine a good squeeze. [Dexterity Card].
These can be used to make your roles more sucessful in specific situation, special powers, or equipment you have. They are like an ace up your sleeve. You have your special cards no one else quite has, because your character is their own special person. Your cards hidden from all others but the GM. And powers are special cards which don't tire or take up action points, but can only be used so often. When in a jam or your other cards are canceld out due to your characters condition,
Note all this is monitored by the GM. There will be a Intell part on you character sheet that reminds you of what you know about others. You just see your cards and remember that you can use those abilities in a certain situation. Using them can change the whole tide of a battle, snooping and doing perception checks on others will help you figure out other people's and give you an edge. Nobody can just waltz over and see you character's traits in this, they have to learn them through snooping or asking, and they you.
In general they just help you keep track of all about your character and what he has and knows in game without looking at humongus character sheet. ![]()

I just thought this would make this more fun for you guys, not having to go through all that diffcult and unfun micro-managment. Making it card-based gave it cool go-fish/poker feel. ![]()
The less rules and statistics the better right?

We'll have to see once this thing gets off the ground. It should be an interesting experiment, if nothing else.

The less rules and statistics the better right?
Correction, the less COMPLEX the rules and statistics, the better. If you get caught up with numbers and stuff, you're playing Math, not an RPG.

Correction: That was a clarification, this is a correction. ![]()
Math is not fun unless you are using it to cure cancer. That is why Math class sucks, and science is awesome (and why they shouldn't be seperate classes).
Thoughts and opinions so far, Red?

What your final cards will look like. Note that how you explained your characters in general to me will change how the 40 points (each counting for a card) will be displaced. For example if you have low strength and high faith, you might 10 cards or five high level cards in Faith-related traits and only 2 cards in strength, ecettera.
If you have ideas of more direct recommendations for your cards, I'll bite.
General Stats (Defined by the amount of Special Cards):
1. Strength (how strong your character is):
2. Dexterity (how nimble your character is):
3. Constitution (how resilient your character is physically):
4. Awareness (how well your character’s take advantage of their senses):
5. Discretion (wisdom/mental toughness):
6. Knowledge (academic knowledge/ book-smarts):
7. Faith (metaphysical resilience and innate spiritual/mystical ability):

- TheRedStranger likes this

"Everyone creates the thing that they dread. Men of peace create engines of war. Invaders create Avengers. People create... smaller people...? CHILDREN! (chuckles) Lost the word there..."

I am hard at work at cooking up 40 cards each for each player then factoring in weakness as well as strengths. But it's getting done steadily. Everyone seems to be jazzed and ready and if I can't make qouta the first round will be in a semi-free-form. So no matter what we are good.
A bit overwealming... but worth it.

We're starting up this weekend. For chapter is going to be slightly more freeform and sucess will be based on your creative prowess and roleplaying abilties. Also this will determin how your cards will manifest themselves in the more rule-based chapters.

I ran into a technical problem that may plague me more this winter. My phone line literally froze for a few days. It just thawed out today. As long as I have internet access, I'll be here nightly. I won't have any advanced warning of the phone line freezing again, so if I'm not here for a couple of nights, you'll know that it's not by choice.
