Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

How did this progress to football?

But what I am trying to propose is each universe have its own comics, games, series, maybe even films. You can choose which one you want. There would (hopefully) be far less fan wars, more people would have what they want, there would be more satisfied customers, and that would mean more revenues for SEGA.

What possible reason would there be to not support this?

  1. SEGA would have to pay more money out first.  They probably don't wanna do that.
  2. It also means SEGA has to find people to make these Sonic Games, Comics, etc.  Again, if they're happy where they are at, I don't see them putting forth the extra effort.
  3. This doesn't reduce the fan wars but rather change their focus.
  4. This leaves out spin off media such as Sonic the Comic, That French Sonic Comic thing (which is pretty good), and even some non SatAM/Archie Sonic American Versions.  To be fair you'd have to give each an every one it's own set of canon which is a whole lot more work than it is worth.

Again, I'm NOT against the idea, in fact if it worked I think it would be a great Idea.  I just don't think it solves the problem with a reasonable amount of effort.

It's a nice idea, but unlikely at this point and time. With Sega playing it safe with Sonic (which isn't a bad thing) it is unlikely that they would take a risk like that for a game, every other media on the other hand we have Archie Sonic and the upcoming show "Sonic Boom" to fill us on the closest thing to a "SOA Sonic Series" we'll get right now.

I mean that not to say it's impossible, just look at Megaman, that series has had SEVERAL different incarnations such as X, Zero, EXE, and so forth, those games all have a variety of success in them. You can also find different examples of series taking on different incarnations such as Spyro, Devil May Cry, and pretty much EVERY SINGLE Tokusatsu show ever made. Now if you were to ask me on how such a "SOA Sonic Series" could get started, I'd say a downloadable game made by a western developer (maybe the guys who made Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit for example) and given creative control on what will go on would work well. Granted such an attempt was made on DMC and while it's been called good it wasn't really successful, if this game has a small to decent budget with them able to use any to all of the characters from the TV shows and Comics I'm sure we would get a crazy game worth the time and effort. Granted some of the characters might not be what you would expect or want them to be but it's a start to get the ball rolling on other projects. It's a small gamble but I think it would be worth it, that way one day sooner you would get that "SatAM-like game" you guys always wanted or something.

If it were up to me I'd revive STC and have a SatAM Remake in the works, but baby steps people, baby steps.

Seriously, HOW THE HELL did nobody know that Robotnik was evil!? I mean just look at those red, glowing, hellish eyes, oh yeah I can completely trust that guy with my life! *sarcasm*

I recommend grass-roots reform, fan's infiltrating SEGA and climbing up ladder and acclumating the corporation to having a more empathic relationship with it's fan base. Instead of bickering we should advocate for what we want as consumers. When demand comes, they will happily supply in the name of profit. The more we say "hey, we want multiple canons like the Megman franchise please, and we are willing to pay your for the expense with profits" the more likely we will be heard.

This will take time, and Sega shouldn't take risks. I like this plan, but it needs to be done Menshivik style baby. Gradual reform.

You know, that is VERY similar to what I've been trying to do for YEARS.

THIS should be our primary strategy.

Also add a new front to the fan wars.

I like the idea dont get me wrong but its not gonna work any time soon

Some say that he knows 2 facts about ducks, and both of them are wrong. And that 61 years ago he accidentally introduced Her Majesty The Queen to a Greek racialist. All we know is, I'm going to the tower now to have my head cut off, and he is called The Stig.

Well maybe this cannot work overnight. And I know it may cost more but if this attracts more customers it would be worth it, right? And just to minimize the start-up costs, the other cannon would start out small, and then grow until it reaches equal size.

Right now my biggest difficulty is trying to convince fans of the SOJ cannon that a growing SOA cannon does not have to come at their expense. They would stop resisting and allow us to have what we want but ONLY if we allow them to have what they want. Is there any way I can explain that better?

People could even like BOTH if they wanted to. (I know some people here who would.)
