I be in the opposite boat. I'd like to see a 3D Sonic Adventure-esque game based on the Archie Comics.
Writier/Artist/Director - I don't care. As long as it looks good. Just because they're good in one area doesn't mean they're good everywhere. There are tons of comic based games written by the actual comic writers that still suck. (I still love you X-Men Destiny).
I agree though characters should have differences in gameplay, but not make someone too different otherwise you get those Knuckles Searching moments that everyone but me seemed to dislike.
Sonic - Plays like normal in Sonic Adventure.
Tails - Slower than Sonic but can access different paths due to flying as well as use tools that Sonic can't (such as computers or vehicles).
Sally - Probably closer to Tails's speed but doesn't have the homing attack and spin jumps. Has to rely on tools/weapons and actual fighting to defeat enemies. Focuses on Strategy and stealth to finish a stage rather than speed.
Bunnie - Plays sort of like the Gamma/Tails stages in Sonic Adventure. Focuses on blasting enemies and exploring an area.
Antoine - Kinda Sonic Black Knight Style. Also could have a fear meter that fills when he takes damage. When it gets full Antoine runs from enemies until he can calm down.
Rotor - Mech Based like Eggman and Tails in Sonic Adventure 2.
