Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

I know this is sort of old news... but all these years I read every links, most web sites, fanfics, and blogs from the Sega Sonic (Or Sonic games Fans) fans and they express of how they truly hate Sally Acorn.

How come??? Naked or they think she's smart then Amy?! :D

Also, check out this video about why people hate Sally:

I suspect it has something to do with her overall relationship with Sonic. When you get down for it, Sonic's the type of guy who most fangirls flip-out over. He's quick, cunning, daring, suave, handsome; basically their ideal man. With that in mind, it's easy to see why Sonamy appeals to the general audience. Girls can identify with Amy's fixation on her Prince Charming and connect to her daily struggles to make him notice/appreciate her.

Aside from the games (where Sonic is trying to avoid Amy), the other media that catches most attention is the anime "Sonic X", which made Sonamy their official pairing. And since most fans confuse both series for the same continuity, Sonamy is the one pairing most fans are used to seeing (despite it not being official).

The comics, while massively popular, don't seem to grab that much attention to general fans. And when they are noticed, fans who are used to seeing Sonamy get upset that their favorite pairing was replaced with a different one. Even if the pairing suits the characters, they try spreading the hate by making up excuses to back up their stance and create false accusations to fool others into thinking they're right. In which case, you could say they're jealous.

Now, not all fangirls are like that. Some like Sally, but still prefer Sonamy for different reasons; while others like both pairings. Indeed, there are some fans out there who are considerable and humble towards others' opinions. It all depends on how they express their favoritism.

At least, that's my take at the subject. Do you agree, or do you think I missed something?

Probably one or more of the following reasons:
* As leader of the Freedom Fighters, she takes the spotlight away from Sonic. I've heard SatAM characterized as "The Sally Show".
* She's not part of the SegaSonic canon and people tend to be prejudiced against anything from foreign canons. (I know I am!)
* A lot of Sonic fans today didn't grow up with Sally, contributing to the above problem.
* She can be a Mary Sue, especially in Archie.
* When she's not being a Mary Sue, she tends to be useless.
* She can be a bitch, especially in Archie. (The Slap, anyone?)
* They don't like the idea of Sonic having a serious girlfriend of any kind.
* She has never fit in well with the SegaSonic style until her recent redesign, which is probably over a decade too late to change anybody's mind.

I'm primarily a SegaSonic fan that didn't really grow up with SatAM and I have no beef whatsoever with Sally.

I don't know where this is all coming from, myself. First I've heard of it. Hell, I "support" Sonsal over Sonamy simply because Sally isn't a psychopath.

I never heard of the naked reason. By the same token, Sonic is . . . *facepalm*

I love my God, my wife, my 5 kids, and I like my guns, my beer, my whiskey, and my pickup.

I dislike politicians, policemen, diet foods, no-smoking signs, and mowing the lawn.

I like Sonic games from the Genesis days, tolerate the Sonic Adventure series, can stomach Sonic Heroes, and can't stand the rest.

And there is only one true story of Sonic, SatAM.

I've heard of people talking about it before but I haven't heard anyone personally claim they dislike Sally for that reason.

The issue (insofar as there is one) is that Sally is rather more humanoid than Sonic is, and is sometimes somewhat sexualized in appearance depending on who's drawing her (not so much in SatAM though).

Well, these Sega Sonic fans can be quite cruel don't you think?

Also, why do a lot of people like Amy Rose so much? I do like Amy.. but sometimes she can be a annoying, stalker, angry, uses a silly hammer, not as smart as Sally... Why do fans love her anyway??? :/

Yup. I personally think its a matter of misinformation about Sally and a fear that if Sally replaces Amy they will never see SonAmy hit the light of day

Laser X5 hit it on the money one time: They prefer the shallowness of a character like Amy where she's praised for being the way she is. Put it this way: Its like how Lola Bunny is treated in Looney Tunes. The newer fans hate the "Space Jam" portrayal of her but appluade the "Looney Tunes Show" version of her. Same thing applies here

I really don't think that it is people liking Amy Rose that much, but more along the lines of just not liking the relationship aspects in the Sonic Universe and by default they're picking Amy Rose as more or less an anti-Sally Acorn. By doing this they know Sonic will never get "tied down" and the games can continue.

Given all the people actively shipping Amy with Sonic, I don't think that's the case. I just tend to file these things under "chronic insanity" and call it a day.

I'm old enough to have seen Space Jam in theaters as a kid (which I did) and I agree with these people 1,000,000%. The original Lola fit in with the Looney Tunes cast about as well as a Tetris block fits in with Puyo Puyo. There's no way people like Chuck Jones or Tex Avery ever would have come up with Lola Bunny.

With the Looney Tunes show, though, they overhauled her and everyone else enough that they fit well together. She still didn't seem like she came straight out of Termite Terrace, but neither did anybody else anymore, so it worked.

I sometimes watch that show.. and yea I admit she is very appearing then the old version from Space Jam

So... do you guys think it's better if Sally become more comedic and insane like Amy??? Lol... I think not! I'd always think of Sally as a mature, mindful, kindness, sort of a fighter, and sort of spiritual like Mother Teresa. :) I also think it's better if she wear clothes just like she does now in the comics. But... I kinda don't like that outfit she wears in the comics.

Yes and no.  In Space Jam Lola was a very uninteresting character as her personality was attractive mandatory female character. However the comics where she was more prominent she gained a much better personality.

I also love how people like The Nostalgia Critic claim Lola's original appearance was a horrible character yet praises Tina who is just as undeveloped and boring.

Nah.  We're pretty brutal on Amy here.  xD

Just ask UncleBen.

*Throws Ben under bus.*

And the Sonic fan base in general hates Chris and Elise though there are few who like the characters respectfully.

I could see her becoming a comical character while still maintaining her original personality. I mean, let's face it, serious characters can be interesting, but they slowly become generic and boring if they never change. Adding a comedic side could provide a lot more entertainment and possible development.

Since Sonic is prone to impulsive and reckless behavior, Sally could easily play the strait-man (or "strait-woman" if you will) who criticizes Sonic's actions. But just to make things even between them (since they share a lot in common), you could have her be just as impulsive and reckless in her own manner, only to get comically humiliated in an ironic way.

There's a difference between character development and being entertaining. And in the case of the "Looney Tunes", it's obviously leaning towards the entertaining side. Sure, the newer show is portraying itself in a more serious light, but the main idea is still aiming at entertainment.

With Lola Bunny, I'm with the critic on this one; her newer depiction is much more entertaining. When you're telling a story (be it a book, movie, video game, or television series), you need a cast of characters to tell the story. But if you want substance, you have to make the characters interesting/entertaining for the readers/viewers to invest themselves into. If they're not interesting, you can't identify with them and, as a result, stop paying attention due to your uninterest.

Yeah... is there any cartoon, anime, or real life tv characters that are very powerful, serious, and likeable? Without doing any comedic side? Just asking...
