@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

This is going to sound harsher than it is meant to. It's just text so you can't hear it in the tone of voice I want it to sound like... and I can't come up with better words. --->

it sounds like you are ready to make a "recruiting station".

I didn't think it sounded harsh.

Provided it doesn't become a horror story, I'd join.

Define horror.

Misk: I don't think VHS has been around long enough to experience the proper range of "horror". So, I figure he's probly referring to the "this is supposed to be scary" section of the genre. I may have also spooked him a bit with my Stephen King analogy. A lot of people forget that SK is simply a master storyteller first and a master of horror second. I was going for the first angle vibe. But, I can see the potential for it to go it to in many different directions, including horror and comedy.

VHS: It may depend on what characters show up and their interactions as to what sort of tone the RP takes on. For example: Vlad would make it into a more classic horror story, because he'd be trying to assimilate everyone. Rick may bring more of a comedy and/or action tone. It could also be a nice chance to resurrect "Jed" the "Cleaner" (not to be confused with Jed the Psychotic Omnian Colony). I kinda miss "Jed".

Actually, I know Stephen King more for Stand by Me than It or the Shining.

Y'know... The more I think about it, the more I like the idear of using "Jed" the "Cleaner". I still don't know what his real name is, but I just love the idea of someone who's seen seriously messed-up stuff and can't tell you about the details without being legally obligated to put a bullet in your head afterward. I should make him my new go-to human character...

In other news: I've had a dream that may or may not make for a promising RP. Essentially, SatAM taken to a less cartoony nature, and given a bit of a twist. For some unknown reason, dimensional rifts are opening around Mobius and depositing people, objects, critters, and whatever else the DM can think of. Neither side has means of predicting these rifts, yet, but both have means of tracking them when they open. For the Freedom Fighters, this means the potential for new tech, weapons, vehicles, and allies, and even just some scrap for Rotor and Sally to build stuff with. For Robotnik, it's more of a chance to roboticize new people and critters and possibly better arm the SWAT Bots if he gets ahold of a cache of weapons. I'll just need someone to DM this one. It's the kind of RP that throws curve balls at you, and I'd rather be an RPer for it, than the DM. Plus, I got woke up before the dream progressed too far, after stabbing a hobo with a box cutter because he'd rather attack me than barter for a drive shaft. We'll call this one "Rift".

Projection: If Intruder Organsim reaches civilized areas...

Entire world population infected 2,7000 hours from first contact.

I wanna do something like WiP...

Some say that he knows 2 facts about ducks, and both of them are wrong. And that 61 years ago he accidentally introduced Her Majesty The Queen to a Greek racialist. All we know is, I'm going to the tower now to have my head cut off, and he is called The Stig.

All you need is the story, and you're good.

Where WiP failed is Sliver had planned everything out but wasn't able to be on.

Me and Magenta had to fill in the role of GM but didn't know all the details of what was to happen next.

See that's where the issue starts.  You can't really Write the Story and Not GM it.  If you know what is going to happen next, you know what you're supposed to do to get the optimal results thus making it hard to play.  That's why a lot of my characters in WiP never did anything because I knew what you guys had to do to solve the problem ( I just didn't know where to go after you did...)

And the reverse is true too.  The GM has to know what should happen next.  They don't need to know everything, because players tend to be unpredictable, but they should have a fairly good feel of the story so they can guide the players through it.

But what if we have the base plot and the PCs just fill in the blanks as we go?

Still you'd know what choices led to the best outcome.  It's like watching a movie you've seen recently.  It is still fun, but since you know what happens next it's not as good as it could be.  Also you'll find all the other players will wait for you to make a decisions first so as to make sure the team doesn't screw up or not let you make decisions at all so as they can feel the challenge.

D R I F T.      So this is something I've been thinking about doing as a story… And  so far, I'm not doing too well with it. HOWEVER… I think if i were to get back in touch with my FUS MOJO, I might be

i   e n r  i       able to pull this off. A Dimensional Journey, similar to the Final Chapter of Sonic: APOC (Which I kinda regret making Zane the main character…. AGAIN….)

I does look better on the PC....though I'm still not sure what the random letters thing is....I can't figure it out.

But while we're on that subject I also have been working on an APOC inspired RPG.  Kinda following the original setting of the RPG before it became just FAR two point oh.

Sonic Apocalypse (aka APOC to go along with FAR, FARule, and all those RPGs) was an RPG started by Ther2view.  It originally was going to be a "What if Sonic failed" thing set up in an apocalyptical setting...but evolved into just FAR 2.  The setting was dropped and the seriousness sorta devolved.

Don't get me wrong it was a blast to play, but it stopped being what it was intended.  Actually all of them started off serious but devolved into random adventures.

DAMMIT ZANE!

I hate everything. It's supposed to say Drift. Dimensional Relativity in Framed Time. It's a story I've been trying to come up with, and I'm coming up with lore and stuff. I think if I can translate it into an RPG it'd be neat.

Sonic: Apocalypse. My personal favorite. Even though like Red said, the seriousness and intention devolved, I still cherish that one the most for some reason.
