@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

I'm gonna wait to see which idea gains the most popularity.

Basically, it's similar to It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. A dying man reveals that he's buried a boatload of cash, and people go to find it. Shenanigans ensue.

This would be a fun one, because, being comedy-based, more stuff could happen. Say, one person could get caught by the government, while two are stranded on a plane, or two others are fighting on the road. You could use fictional characters, original characters, different species, aliens, all of whom just want the cash.

I'm gonna be a downer but I don't like that movie. :/ Everyone was a scumbag.

Here, I have a wonderful idea or two.

Dead Space RPG or something equivalent: Once upon a time, I was a DM for the Renraku Arcology supplement. Its like System Shock with fantasy races. i was told my Survival Horror DMing skills were nice. So I wanted to try it out. Everyone is survivors, main goal is to survive, alone or eventually in a group. Will feature a Sanity system a la Call of Cthulhu, and if it is Dead Space related, it will also have a Marker Influence level.

World War 2 RPG: Exactly what it says on the tin. You play a soldier of any stripe during the events of WW2. Being the WW2 nut I am, the DMing would be pretty spot-on. Will incorporate a Trauma level and a Fame level.

World War Z: Yes.

Pandorum RPG: You wake up out of hypersleep. You have no memories. You are not alone. Follows a movie of the same name closely, and is quite like Dead Space Hard Mode. It also will incorporate a hidden sanity stat called Pandorum. Your perception of certain things is affected by your Pandorum Level.

Let it be known that Reed Teran is never short of ideas.

No idea how I missed this thread for so long.

Anyway, I've had an idea or two that's been sitting on the burner for quite some time.

One of them I've simply titled "The House." The premise is that a group of random characters suddenly wake up in a mansion. The character may/may not have met before, but the one common thing among them is that they have no idea how they got there.

They also cannot get out, as hard as they try. But, aside from that, the house seems harmless. Plenty of food, working water, and I refuse to put some killer in there. At least myself. That leaves, then, the mystery of how they all got there, why they can't get out, and the mystery of the place as a whole/

There would be a story in this RP, but it would be developed at the players' pace. Otherwise the focus would all be character interactions.

It's all completely my thing, not based on any pre-existing work, though if desired I can easily tie it into the world of SatAM.

What's the general opinion of this idea?

Oh, I see.

Well, kind of, at least in regards to the tv show. But only as far as a random group of people living in a house together. There is nobody nor no thing that watching them. They are alone in the house.

No. I'm getting strained from writing extremely long posts from multiple people playing multiple characters each.

And now you know why I killed the "up to 3 people" limit in the Cannon Race.

I like how it's got a kinda Stephen King feel to it. Provided I not have to use a human character, I'd love to join in on that one.

I haven't totally decided on that part yet. I was more leaving that open to suggestion.

So if you're dead-set on not being human, we can definitely work that out.

Honestly, I'm good either way. I just prefer to use non-human characters. I'm more comfortable/use to using non-human body language to accentuate feelings and whatnot. One could say I'm disenchanted with humanity (or ascribe some psychosis to it or whatever)... I'd still be happy to jump in with a human character, because it's a good RP setup. :evo:

Define horror.

Misk: I don't think VHS has been around long enough to experience the proper range of "horror". So, I figure he's probly referring to the "this is supposed to be scary" section of the genre. I may have also spooked him a bit with my Stephen King analogy. A lot of people forget that SK is simply a master storyteller first and a master of horror second. I was going for the first angle vibe. But, I can see the potential for it to go it to in many different directions, including horror and comedy.

VHS: It may depend on what characters show up and their interactions as to what sort of tone the RP takes on. For example: Vlad would make it into a more classic horror story, because he'd be trying to assimilate everyone. Rick may bring more of a comedy and/or action tone. It could also be a nice chance to resurrect "Jed" the "Cleaner" (not to be confused with Jed the Psychotic Omnian Colony). I kinda miss "Jed".

Well there wouldn't be any ghosts or psychotic murderers or the like from my end. So if that's what he meant, that shouldn't be a problem (though again I speak from my end only).

Though the House does hold a secret, but as to if it would qualify as "horror" I'm not really certain. If it did, it would certainly not be "traditional." If it qualifies at all.
