In all seriousness. These rules are not finalized and I want some mature opinions. The better we prepare for the future, the less we regret the actions that will become our past. This isn't a dictatorship. I want your insights.
The only issue that I have is how far is too far with violence, sexual, and other objectionable material; in my opinion just saying NSFW doesn't cut it. If you go and ask someone on the street "how far is too far" you'll get a different answer depending on the person you ask.
Personally I am not writing my stories with Sega's current Sonic demographic in mind, nor do I have any intention of writing anything for the pre-teen crowd in mind. I am more or less writing for grown adults that are fans and stories that I myself would like to read. This doesn't mean that I want to write smut or gore, but I would like to know where to draw the line. In my upcoming chapters in particular it's probably going to get more disturbing and while I usually run these kind of scenes by RedStranger for editing, I rather not offend anyone or go over the line in the first place; that is the furthest thing from my intention. Like the old saying goes: "one man's art is another man's pornography."
Also what happens if one of us happens to put something in a story that another member finds objectionable but still falls under criteria? Do we just tell that person to grow a thicker skin and/or don't read the story, or do we adjust our rules to fit that person's objections?
Easy fix actually.
If you take the rating of a video game you can see it gives you the general audience and usually some extra warnings on it. We do the same.
We acknowledge a rating or general audience, and provide warnings of what we feel might need to be addressed.
FOR EXAMPLE:
War for Mobius - Rating: T - Genre: Sci-Fic/Adventure - Contians: Medium Level Violence, some humor that may not be appropriate for children under 13.
