That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

Yet your votes don't count because of Gerrymandering, microtargeting, and mass stupidity. Seriously, you think it bad where you are from - try livin' in California with Mike and Zealous.

Important.

 

So if people can't get together all at once (and most of us can - Bytor, Zealous, Mike, and me) I can do it in two sessions. But that would mean I have to read everything twice. 8[

 

Right now I need you guys to do one thing and set up your Skypes if you don't have them already. I will IM you notifications from time to time and set up reminders of notifcations via Skype, which is easier overall. This way I can tell when everyone is online or not and ask them if you all can group-talk. Remember to share contacts. I'd also like for us to sometimes have freeform chats about our work and just build a sense of community over our work as well sometimes. 

 

Also here is some basic ground rules for the more Formal Calls-

 

*Be respectful and constructive.

*Take turns talking and do your best not talk over people. If we get problems with that from the size of the call then I will simply moderate and mediate the call to where we all get a fair share of time to talk.

*IM any relevant messages to others rather than interrupt when there is a chosen speaker. 

*Stay on topic and stay relevant - no talking about your own work or your favorite anime while we are all focused reviewing someone's work obviously.

 

 When we read the work we are looking for:

 

Text - what the text is talking about.

 

Subtext - What the text is trying to say.

 

Style/Prose - The artistic qualities and storycraft - diologue, pacing, setting, tone, characters, ect.

 

Praise - Things you liked overall.

 

Constructive Criticisms - Things that could be improved. 

 

Q&A - This is the part where we give the writer a chance to answer questions and respond to feedback.

 

+ Pro-tip: try to take notes in the sections above when we do readings so you can remember your thoughts.

 

+ If you feel uncomfortable reading - don't worry: we don't expect you to be a professional voice actor.

For me, Thursdays through the weekend are usually open, with the exception of Saturday afternoon and evening. Any other times, I'd have to play it by ear. Monday afternoons and Tuesday/Wednesday evenings aren't an option due to classes.
