Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

Gender bending? Okay or Not okay? (Not Okay)

I honestly don't mind it. It could work as an alternate universe plot of some kind:

Like maybe the cast gets sent to an alternate reality where everyone's genders are reversed. The characters meet their feminine/masculine counterparts and, due to their common interests, begin to fall in love with them. All seems like heaven, until it becomes a problem; everyone is too busy spending time together to pay attention to the villains teaming up with their transgendered counterparts, forming a pact which knows the opposite genders' weaknesses. Eventually though (like most couples), everyone ends up fighting each other, and in the end, they split ways in favor of finding somebody else to be their partner.

That could be an interesting story.

Gender bending? Okay or Not okay? (Not Okay)

Ooh, that's a tough one. I guess it's okay if it's done right, which usually it isn't in fan fiction, if not at all unless someone tells me otherwise. I have seen designs of a different gender character before and sometimes it's pretty cool actually. The way it goes from what I've seen is that it's for a crack shipping fic only, OR it's just a design/cosmetic change and doesn't distract from the story, but those are few and far between. The only one I know of that has handled Gender Bent Characters well is Sonic Sketchy, while that's a pretty messed up series on several levels that's saying something, but It's a really good fan fic too. There's only 2 characters in there that have their gender bent, one is Tails (course that should have been VERY OBVIOUS) while the other I'll just let you find out for yourself, but you'll be VERY surprised who it is and she's a badass silent character.

Overall, if it's done right that it's possible for it to be okay, it just depends on the story and if it's just a cosmetic change then it's alright. There are some good possibilities with such a concept, it's just gotta be done by the right writer.

Seriously, HOW THE HELL did nobody know that Robotnik was evil!? I mean just look at those red, glowing, hellish eyes, oh yeah I can completely trust that guy with my life! *sarcasm*

Indeed it was a tough question, but it was a good one to ask Ben.

Now let's dig deep into fan-fic plots and their common pitfalls as well promises. Insights?

Some say that he knows 2 facts about ducks, and both of them are wrong. And that 61 years ago he accidentally introduced Her Majesty The Queen to a Greek racialist. All we know is, I'm going to the tower now to have my head cut off, and he is called The Stig.

Gender bending? Okay or Not okay? (Not Okay)

I find it funny.

I'm not really into the whole Gender Bending opens up new Romances and all that stuff, but I think it's funny for one character to randomly have to deal with the whole new view on life thing.

I also don't mind those alternate worlds where the Genders have been reversed.

Tails' Age:  I would put him around the same age as Amy, to be honest.  They seem to act around the same age, anyway...so I'd have him at around 12.

Sonic.EXE:  That...is barely...a GAME.  I've seen it, and it just looks like some excuse to do something disturbing.

Gender bending:  This isn't so bad if it can be done right.  Alternate universe fics have explored this in the past...albeit with varying results.  It also works well in cases where the gender of a specific character is in doubt.  (Like with Tails, for example.)

I hear a common complaint that most fan-fic is purely reactive (characters reacting to situation rather than thinking and doing something with a clear set of motivations). Shall we pointificate on this?

Many Fan Fictions in GENERAL are Reactive.

The Reasoning for this is many readers complain that characters don't act the way they were supposed to.

So people write more about how the character would react to the situation.

because some people cant write or dont know how to fully potray characters (i'm not being hyper-critical, i have seen this)

This is why more writers need a better understanding of the characters' personalities and behavior.

That is a good point.

So, to fix this problem we must the common maladies we see in character writing for non O.C's . Care to list them?

Sonic falling in love with Amy.

 Oh indeed.

I say you could make a relationship between the two of them work if you are a skilled enough writer (but trust me, it'd be pretty hard) ...but just falling in love like you say, and about 99% of the Sonamy stuff is crappy (if not creepy) dribble...then again, so is most shipping in general: for it is more about the fantasy of the readers than the cogency of the characterization. Sonic doesn't fall in love he'd have to have more credible character development and for Amy likewise for something like that to ever happen. I think I found a way to make that work...but I'm not telling anybody for the sake of humanity. It's like a schematics for a Doomsday weapon. Plus Sally is Sonic's woman so back off you pink-faced codependant leech!!! *I kid*.
