@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

Other M?

This is Sonic we're talking about, not Metroid.

Long before the Metroid Other M, and before Ian Flynn wrote for Archie, he wrote a Sonic the Hedgehog Fan Comic on Sonic-Verse Team called Other M (I think it stood for Other Mobius).

And if you were being Sarcastic.....*slaps VHS*

Anyways...said this about Other M in another topic....

Just for the record, I never liked Other M.  While I agree the new main cast was a nice touch, and it had a really in depth story with amazing characterization, it just wasn't my cup of tea.  I didn't like that Two of my favorite characters were turned evil (Knuckles and Tails) without good reason (Miles was just evil.  Period.  And Knuckles's reasonings were limited at best), and too often the Comic felt that Everyone was on the run.  Part of the Charm of SatAM is even though the heroes were at the disadvantage, their victories seemed to mean something.  Other M seemed to focus the other way, victories were fleeting, and the defeats seemed to have more lasting effects.  Also everybody died.  A lot.  And I know sometimes you can't make a comic without killing a few X-Men, but back to the victories scenario, the deaths ALWAYS felt wasted.  Bark dies saving people...but achieves relatively nothing.  Robotnik dies trying to save the team, Bean dies anyways.  In fact the original outcome was everyone died so they sent Sonic home, just for him to use Zonic to cheat and fix everything (hey...Ian was retconing back then too).

Now again, I'm not saying it was BAD, in fact it was really good for a fan story, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

Just had to get that outta the way.

So to expand on it:

Knuckles and Tails are my two favorite game Characters (Robotnik used to be up there but he keeps being done not intimidating enough).  As much fun as it is to see alternate universes of them, making them the major villains for the longest time was a big dislike for me.  Specifically since Knuckles's evil was more over stupidity that seemed a bit overkill, and Tails was just PURE evil which was never really ever explained.

Also everyone dies without meaning.  I know in real life people sometimes die for no rhyme or reason, but when characters are just randomly killed off (and one was brought back) you're going all X-Men for the wrong reasons.  Bark was killed of sacrificing himself for the team, but other than killing Bark off, it didn't seem to do anything for anyone.  Robotnik pretends to be evil and double crosses the team only to turn around to try and save everyone last second and gets killed, and Bean was still killed when he was doing that.  Also Bean, being the leader, had a dramatic death, yet all it did was open the position for Sonic to take charge, which ended up with everyone dead and Sonic being sent back home, just to do a SUPER RETCON MOMENT.  And after that Bean was Magically brought back from the dead anyways.

When characters die, I wanna feel they had some sort of lasting effect on the rest of the team.  Even if it's just sadness that they died.  Otherwise you might as well made be using the Clone Troopers from Star Wars because Nobody feels bad when they die.

Also on that same note, nothing ever seemed to get better for the team.  Rather than feeling like the were improving situations (like in Archie Sonic and SatAM) it continually felt like things were growing steadily worse for them.  I'd like to see progression.  Instead it's Really Bad and then suddenly WE WON!

Also....I never quite understood what "Part Two" was about after Mighty defected onto the team.  But at that time when I was reading it many of the pages were missing, didn't load properly, or just flat out didn't work.  Then it kinda died around Boomer's death so....

Now I don't HATE the comic.  I did at first but I have to admit I did read it all the way through, the character's personalities were interesting and well put together, and it was a well thought out and developed change to the Sonic universe.  It just wasn't my cup of tea.

If ya wanna, you can check it out here:

And, yeah, consistent art woulda been a good start but it's really tough to get a good team together for any length of time...especially on a fan project.

*remembers how much trouble 'nique had getting people to do the pages for the first incarnation of Sea3on*

Tails, everyone has a different age for him ranging from 6-12. How old Tails should be? (FTR [For the record] i think 10 maybe 11 works fine

Some say that he knows 2 facts about ducks, and both of them are wrong. And that 61 years ago he accidentally introduced Her Majesty The Queen to a Greek racialist. All we know is, I'm going to the tower now to have my head cut off, and he is called The Stig.

I'd prefer him to be 12 or 13 at the least.

In War for Mobius, Tails is 10-ish.

Now since I've never OFFICIALLY established ages in my Fan Fic (that way people can sort of decide for themselves), Tails had to be younger than the rest.  Consider the average belief of Sonic is 15-17, 10-12 made sense to me.

By episode three of EoT Sonic is 18 going on 19, Tails 13 going on 14, Bunny and Antoine are about 21, and Sally is around 19. I do explain that a Mobian doesn't age like a human though. A Mobian can live way passed our average lifespan, and most Mobians don't fully mature untill 25 (though we both go through adolescense similtaniously).

As for the games I'd like see Tails grow up just a tad to show Sonic is rubbing off on him and he getting more competant and mature. I actually would like to see their relationship become more complex with disagreements and personality differences like in the comics. Sonic is an awesome guy, but he is not exactly perfect enough to be idolized in my opinion (he can be a jerk). Seeing Tail's gradually realize he isn't the be all end all would be great character arc. Seeing him become Sonic's equal though opposite in his own special skills would even be better.

Personally I thought he already was growing up throughout the games, I mean with Sonic's Birthday in Generations doesn't that make Sonic 16 and Tails 9 now?

As for Tails relative age it's 8 in the games and Sonic X, 4 in AoSTH, 4 or 6 in SatAM, and 10 - 11 in Archie Sonic. Ages aren't really shown in STC but apparently years go by I guess so maybe he started out as 6 - 8 and is now 11 - 12 in STC. Personally I think 8 - 11 is a pretty good age range for Tails in any series.

Seriously, HOW THE HELL did nobody know that Robotnik was evil!? I mean just look at those red, glowing, hellish eyes, oh yeah I can completely trust that guy with my life! *sarcasm*

Sonic.EXE, the story sucks but the little fan game was cute, the guy has a little following and I can understand the appeal of it. Every other .EXE character sucks worse though. Hell someone is still in the works of a Sonic 1 hack where EXE chases you, played the demo during this year's SHC and it's awesome! Not much to read but it's a hit so I can't argue with that.

Now if you want to read a GOOD Video Game Based Creepypasta (and one of the best Creepypastas EVER) look no further then here at http://nesgodzillacr...pasta.blog.com/.

To watch a video reading that's really cool check this out, http://www.youtube.c...btN398bGPrOq54i. Enjoy!

Gender bending? Okay or Not okay? (Not Okay)

I'm not a fan...  but if someone genuinely wanted to write a story where they wish to pontificate  afresh with some inventive character writing and not a focus on anything...odd...I could tolerate it. But most is just freaky and ill-executed.

However, being a writer going on seven years I can say your writing is an amazingly deep expression of yourself - and somethings, dark shameful parts of ones psyche are a solopcistic hellhole that one should not put on the page for the sanity of the readers. Writing is made not for the writer, but the reader more. Give the reader the best of you, and not the things they will find...yeah. Most people I know people who fell into the broad "creepy crowd" of fanfiction and fanart and it hurt them pretty bad, mostly because it's based on egocentric ... predilections.

Is that about my O.C. Ben? Cause he kinda is a darker (and at some points) lighter version of me.

but my OCs have a (what my friend Jon called) "an unbelievably complex, yet simple character development"

I have a whole 120 page notebook that includes all of the development of my OC characters, ranging from Ben, to his squad to his clan and everything in between. Hell i have been told i could make character for games and comics cause of how dynamic i have made them

Nope. I am painting with a broad, broad brush. If I have comment to make about your work, I would review it fairly and with even more sensative language. It's just my way.
