To get one of your very own, buy a 3DS AND TURN THE FUCKING 3D OFF.

WHY THE HECK DOES THIS EXIST!?  Is it cheaper?  Why should I get this at all?!  My 3DS Already Does all that it advertised and more!

It's 130 bucks, and it's geared towards little kids with parents who are too stupid to know that there are Parental Controls for the 3D.

At this point, to be honest, stupid things like that from Nintendo don't surprise me anymore. Nintendo have turn themself into complete goofball. I miss the time where Nintendo was awesome

i honestly thought it was a hoax at first but i can see a reason why they make this:

...dude...PS3 causes seizures.  Heck in Metal Gear Solid 4 they even warn you that you could have a seizure playing on the PS3.  

 

Sure if you play on the 3DS too long you get a headache.  But that's no different than if you watched a 3D Movie for like 6 Hours.

Parents are stupid.  They still complain that kids get a hold of Mario and learn to shoot people.

Dumb as this is, this is probably what I'll get over a 3DS.

 

Cheapest 3DS I can find is still $160. And that's used and not refurbished. So I'll buy this instead. It's completely supported.

 

I just don't see the point in forking over extra money for a feature I do not intend to use.

Understandable.  If this had come out first it would have not been as dumb.  However because many of us already bought a 3DS, the 2DS seems like a slightly dumber version.

I may find the design stupid, but i might going to get this. Since i hate 3D gimmick (and yes, i know i can desactivated the 3D fonction on the 3DS, but it's still here and i hate that), this may be not too bad. The price is acceptable and there's more and more game coming out, so maybe i'll get one......maybe.

To be fair I don't think the 3DS let me solve the closing the DS to solve the Puzzles in Hotel Dusk anyways.

The reason Nintendo (according to them) are releasing this to have it as a device aimed at 5-6 year olds.

 

Personally I think it's because 3D isn't appealing to everyone. There's probably people out there who didn't want to get the 3DS because of the 3D, completely unaware that the 3D can be turned off. Plus the price point was probably a turn off for them too. Why spend $150+ on a handheld that has 3D as it's selling point if you don't want the 3D?

 

Making the 2DS seems like a retarded step, but at the same time, it's probably a smart move for Nintendo. Since it won't need to include the 3D tech inside, that'll bring the cost down and it might make those who didn't want a 3DS think overwise now.

 

I didn't want a 3DS because I find 3D a truely terrible gimmick, be it used in a movie or a video game. When I play video games, I wanna sit down comfortably and play a game, I don't want to keep that thing perfectly still and level to view something which I can only stand for a short period before it starts skullfucking me so hard I get a headache.. Same thing with Wii/Kinnect/PSMove, when I play a game, I wanna relax and not stand around flailing around like a total moron.

 

As for if I'll get one, I dunno, probably not, but knowing there's now the option, it's more tempting.

Prime said it all, i have nothing more to say. I hate the 3D gimmick as well and many other stupid thing.
