@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

Also I'd like to note my favorite scene with them where they tell Naugus off when he tries to make a pact with Jules, THAT was badass!

That is true.  50's Housewives can't do that crap.  xD

Good point

Some say that he knows 2 facts about ducks, and both of them are wrong. And that 61 years ago he accidentally introduced Her Majesty The Queen to a Greek racialist. All we know is, I'm going to the tower now to have my head cut off, and he is called The Stig.

Never understood that. That was Penders right?

Tails? Very Nice, I actually know how I would write him in the series, but the way he is now during Ian's Run is Really Good and pretty much has the write idea, as he's gotten older he's become more mature as time has gone on, the kid has suffered a LOT lately and it seems that everything around him Is messing with is mind (especially now in 252 having two sets of memories, then again that will apply to everyone eventually I suppose). The way he's handled now wouldn't be so different on how I would write him really, but I would like to see him more when he gets pissed off as it's been said his anger outdoes even Sonic and Knuckles. I'd like to see him try to reason with most of villains, while some (like Mogul and Scourge) he would just stop trying and bring them down maybe due to a grudge or some good reason to him. I liked the conflicts between Sonic and Tails, the first real fight they had was cool but it can be done better, with each conflict (for whatever reason) maybe things will get more heated as time goes on. Perhaps he'll even start to have doubts on the Freedom Fighters. There are A LOT of things you can do with Tails and I hope to see all of them done someday by Flynn and Co. He's really starting to become the reasonable guy of the group nowadays (kinda like Sally) with his skills and confidence growing (almost like Sonic), the skies the limit for the kid and I can't wait to see what they are!

As for the Chosen One stuff, I'm sorely disappointed on how the previous writers handled this. From what I know it was Mike Gallagher that wrote that in during the Tails Mini Series, after that was set up pretty much no one had any idea what to do with it. But they made it so that Mogul was his Enemy (which is pretty cool) and that he was suppose to do something called "The Great Harmony", whatever the hell that means, but it's suppose to bring a Golden Age to Mobius apparently. There were two events that were suppose to be this Harmony, the first being Tails and Mogul fighting with Tails becoming Titan Tails (NEVER AGAIN, at least with that look), the second event was when Tails and Shadow got every Emerald in the Prime Zone into the Void with Feist, who turned them into 7 Emeralds much like in the games. No Golden Age in sight that's for sure, then again what do the Ancient Walkers know anyway, they're dead. I do hope that's revisited as it's really interesting, maybe Tails ends up saving the day by the end of the comic with Sonic! However, with all this talk about Tails' great potential there is naturally a flip side to that. Maybe all this Great Harmony stuff has been misread and could bring a Golden Age nobody wants. Who knows, because no body does and I can't blame them, too bad though.

I honestly preferred just seven chaos emeralds as opposed to the numerous ones that used to exist.  It's easier to keep track of just the seven, and it's one change to better resemble the games that I don't actually mind.

You are tasked to do your own reboot of the comic series. How would you go about it?

Bonus points if you drop the concept of a Genisis Wave and give me something new and unique.

Simply just slowly restart everything.  Make it gradual, no need to rush things.

Gradualism is very unique! I like the idea. I have never seen it done. You could do it as big a conspiracy plot, perhaps a temporal cold war.

Pretty much.

All reboots seem spontanious, why not give gradual a try

My own reboot?  That would depend on the following...

"Okay, Sega?  I will agree to help write a reboot on one condition.  You stay as hands off as possible.  That means I will do my best to stay within your guidelines, but I will not accept any micromanaging of the story and plot.  In fact...you even THINK of trying to rewrite my rewrite, and I'm out.  I am not sacrificing a good story for the sake of your paranoia over your precious IP.  Besides...let's be honest here.  If this story sucks, it's not going to work as advertising for you guys.  So...best leave the story writing to me."

A Reboot of the Comic without using The Genesis Wave. I'm probably one of the few people who liked The Genesis Wave, because of it we basically got Sonic 1 and 2 Adaptions. It was established enough and it made sense to me. For a Reboot I'd probably start it with someone opening it with a Prologue Speech (Zonic maybe?) or have a brief flash of an apocalyptic battle happening in the old world. Something maybe like how Mortal Kombat 9 did it, that was really cool! When one world ends, another begins...

As for the Reboot itself, establishing creative control is priority one. What would I do with it? Being that this is from Archie Comics and considering how the New Prime Zone is more Sega Based I'd have it so that it has it's roots from the Archie Comic and more close to SatAM, maybe we can have the SatAM Nate Morgan we never got? I'd have it balanced out the Archie/SatAM and the Sega, doing things pretty differently while at the same time making it recognizable to Sega Sonic fans. As for the characters Penders made I would probably use them, but for some characters I would replace them with Proxy Characters if they don't fit in well enough into the world. Maybe I'd even use some characters from the Sonic Bible like Johnny Lightfoot and Porker Lewis if possible. That's how it would go down if I was in charge of a Reboot.

I too have an idea for a reboot of the franchise. It's mostly a revamped retelling of the official SegaSonic universe mixed with elements from SatAM, Underground, and both the Archie and Fleetway comics to broaden its universe. Characters and events from the respective continuities are explored more and given a new coat of paint.

You can view it here if you like: link (suggestions are welcome)

Would you believe I already know about it? I just didn't know the author, until now.  It was the first fan-fic material I ever read when coming back to the fandom. I was looking for some good material and your stuff intrigued me, especially the world-building. I enjoyed your ideas about the chaos emeralds in paticular. You actually have been a part of what inspired me to make EoT. I saw that there were creative minds in the fandom that could enjoy more than corny shippings and could strive for a good narrative, characters, and world. You gave me more hope in the potential within our fandom.

Now that I've put two and two together...I guess I need to thank you.

We should PM sometime about our ideas, bounce them back and forth.

Who's ready for another Mike Arcade question? Too bad.

What if Archie Sonic wasn't based off of SatAM, but the Early SatAM(http://sonic.wikia.c...edgehog_Cartoon) or the SatAM from the SatAM Bible (http://www.sonicsata...ind-the-scenes/)? How would have effected the Comic?

This is actually a continuation of my most recent question from the SatAM Reconstruction Topic, just if any of you were wondering.

Here's a question I was pondering concerning the comic: Does anyone else wonder if Geoffrey St.John was an idealization by Ken Penders, a Self-Insertion into the comics so to speak?

I don't know, but it seemed odd how he seemed to 'best' Sonic quite often and to me he seemed to be a 'pet' during Ken Penders' run.

What does anyone else think? Or do you think that there might have been another character/writer that fits "Self-Insertion" more?

To prove this, we will need to compare the character to the writer and see the simularities, but more importanly the man's personal wishes. No one is guiltless when it comes to self-inserts, just look at King's protagonists (usually writers, susbstance abusers, and likeable creatives with flaws that are slowly withering them and their families). Some character's we wish to be like, sometime it projects the other way around and we bring our baggage into them. Also we she note the shift betweeen writers and monitor the change in St. John's character to get a more wholistic perspective. So let's being our examination.

I don't know a lot about Ken Penders the man, but to me it seems like Geoffrey St. John was a pet of his and maybe an Idealization of himself.

If you look at the character he was created like a mix between James Bond, MacGyver, and Errol Flynn; seemingly able to best most of Sega Superpowered characters. Under Penders watch he seemed sure of himself, and was the majority of the time proven right even against the regular characters, he was definitely egotistical and constantly belittled the other characters; and under Penders he also seemed like the perfect MI5 agent for The Crown. However, during Ian Flynn's tenure he was downplayed as a major character and even became a traitor.

Now, I'm not outright accusing Penders of putting an idealized version of himself in the comic, but it does make me wonder.

Hm, and did he have much flaws in your eyes? Or did he play off as a full Mary Sue?
